She was such an underrated beauty. From the 1950s to the 1980s Shirley was gorgeous without trying to be so. True legend of the screen.
what happened in the 90s then😭 she will always be beautiful!
this was when stars were really STARS!!!!!
She's shit. She's a starfucker thot (the entire rat pack) who sold her soul for fame, and abandoned her child in the process. Has yet to meet her own granddaughter, to this day. When stars were stars, my arse..
I agree Stephen Garrison
Really STARS!!!
They really knew how to do it back then; at least she did ! Amazing first scene when she dances and twirls on in!
I just Love Love Shirley MacLaine
A beauty and a great actress.
She is so funny in her speeches. Love seeing her always.
So sad many people have died from the Golden years. They were True Hollywood!!
Shirley MacLaine is just amazing! Spectacular!
David Linx She was. Lousy mother though! It was all about her!
@Ez G Who? Her daughter said that when going to Europe it was the attendants who looked after her, not her mother!
SOME ENTRANCE!!!!!!
Class, intellect and authenticity.
She's a bowel movement.
Class? You know what a bad parent she is right?
@@lepetitchat123 was she your mom?
@@lepetitchat123 do you have a bad thing to say about everyone?
@@yourmommmmm264 It doesn't take long to google what I said and see if it has any validity.
James Cagney is one of the best actors ever. He was a treasure.
(1) Love Shirley MacLaine's dancing entrance with no introduction.
(2) Her close at 6:22, until the moment she utters "only $4.95" is absolute genius.
The short answer, Sandy, is yes she is an idiot. Sadly people trip over themselves to idolize this apparently bankrupt soul.
I miss old Hollywood. Just like I miss Old Las Vegas. Some things just aren't the same anymore.
Thank you for this 😚😚😎
Grand entrance, back in the day, we had Stars who had to make many pictures to learn their craft. Excellent, don't know if this was the opening, but it was great, by one of our Greatest Stars: Shirley MacLaine
AAAhhh, my beautiful seventies FOREVER!
The hairdo remains me of Gina Lollobrigida, those days were very glamorous
I loved all of this. And thanks Shirley. 😘
I have always loved her and always will.
Sedona Kelley me too until her daughter wrote the book! All true. That stuff cannot be made up!
Sedona Kelley Shirley’s books are a very good read, as well.
Brilliant simply brilliant shirley Maclaine 👏
I'm so proud of Goldie Hawn @ 2:40. Her pride and honesty is apparent.
She reacted that way because George C. Scott made a point of saying how much he hated the academy awards & he would never attend or accept one. So it was a big deal at the time when he won.
The SFX bit at around 4:52 was a hoot!
Give me the good old days!!!
This is when humour was a real riot! 😂 ... not of these days but love these days.
"You're never going to believe this but I'm Shirley MacLaine!!" Huh??
Perhaps one of the first clones?
Paraphrasing one of her lines from Steel Magnolias... "Shirley, are you high?"
Shirley MacLaine has always been one of my favorite movie stars ever since I saw her in "The Apartment". What her daughter or anybody else says about her means nothing to me. A fan is a fan is a fan - and so on.
She decided to be a movie star and not a Mother. Sophia Loren and Audrey Hepburn did the other way round, the First doing only italian or european movies from 1970 until 1979, the latter retiring to raise her son. Shirley decided to put her career First. That"s all.
Robert Anderson dear God these people are all about worshipping themselves and not about our risen savior Jesus Christ
"and so on''; fuck are you even talking about??
What a stunning woman
she was a very beautyfull woman and a good artist. Chapeau.
What a much more glamorous and respectable time it was then at the Oscars. The morals, the class and the mystique has just drained out of Hollywood. No wonder viewership has dropped in the recent years?
Boulderdash.
What a talent.
It amazes me, what people do for a bit of admiration...
musiclover6133 f*ck u
Frankie baby, she's a vacuous hole.
Great as usual Shirley
0:15 and 0:47
Shirley MacLaine is Adorable, wonderfull 👏👏💕💕💕
I love Ellie Sommers’ hair in the clip
Amen!
Flawless !
Good delivery
Beautiful and lovely
She's quick witted.
Love Shirley.
She is number 1 to this day
2019
☝
magnifico
One of the most talented actress.
fabulosa
1975. When I was a young adult.
Class act!
Nice to see her so young and beautiful again
Such a gorgeous woman
She's always funny!
RIP Eireann Hagan 1912 1976
I remember seeing Ms.Maclaine..wearing that beautiful dress and dancing onto the stage of the 1975 Oscars.
Oh my god. She’s just like the character she played 15 years later in Post Cards From the Edge. She seems a little young here to be rocking a bouffant hairdo.
It's obviously a wig, and in the 70's wigs were very popular -
I had a couch upholstered in that dress fabric
I bet -unlike Shirley- you would look like a couch in that fabric !
1:38 why she always do that sounds like (chuck!) with her lips before speak?? Is anyone has noticed?
Shirley McClain is my stage name
That entrance is so ethereal dancer land and faintly weird. But Hollyweird IS. Her hair looks like a wig. I think it is. #cape
Some Sunset Boulevard, Norma Desmond, type shit. She's a freak.
She's such a cutie!
She looks great here at 41.
If you pay attention, at the beginning she says you may not believe she is Shirley. In 1968 at the Democrat National Convention she made a speech wearing a moo-moo because she weighted over 200 pounds. She hardly looked the same.
@@USA24541 wow! Never knew that! I can't help but wonder if she childhood trauma like so many in Hollyweird. I've always admired Ms. Maclaine.
@@kimperes5987 She did not have a Hollywood childhood. She was born in Richmond, Virginia and grew up in Arlington, and attended Washington & Lee High School, as did her brother, Warren Beatty.
She is such a funny woman. Every time she nails the ceremony with jokes
This is weird. But fabulous
What a great actress she is(was).
Still is
Man is she high - love it
So the moral to this story is don’t have kids if you don’t want them. She thinks more about her dog than she does about her daughter and grandchildren. That says a lot about her life.
That’s just it - it’s Her life ! Instead of aborting the child she gave Sachi a chance to make a life of her own . To publish a book of resentments tells you more about Sachi than it ever does about Shirley
@@lenwelch2195 No it doesn't. It was to wake you up to real life for the forgotten. There are some real life lessons to be learned for all of us.
She’s beautiful with glen ford in the western.
Its 2/13/21 and I'm watching it right now! Thats why I got into YT to research Ms. Maclaine 😄
Melissa Villasenor could play young MacLaine so easily.
@Paul Miller
Melissa is wonderfully talented but I have never seen her dance; is she hiding that from us? ;o)
the music at the beginning?
Shirley is just a natural comedian
What did she say about her brother ?? Listened a few times and still can't make it out
Shes says she was lucky to get her brother to do her hair. He had done Shampoo a couple years earlier . But its tongue in cheek because she has on a wig.
Weird. She was incredibly wonderful on film: Some Came Running, The Apartment, WAWTG, Woman X7, and Two For The Seesaw (my favorite.) Early on, she filmed absolutely beautifully. But, Weird in real life! Reputed to be callous and unemotional and just one of the guys. A Shame.
4:52 who is her? she is gorgeous...is she Shirley MacLaine?
Only 23 wievs? That's because people haven't seen this at the video section of the channel. And good advice to the nominees at 6:18!
What is a wiev ?
Imagine this level of ego. It must be so fun.
3:04
Sad, she is truly mentally exhausted. So sad. She left her child. But it is more than ego, it is mental illness.
Who is the guy winner with the great hair?
Alex Cord
What's with the dippity do wig...
It's definitely a lotta dippity🍥🤺
@3:42 Marilyn Monroe 💗💗💗
Sometimes I wondered how come my friend suize de la Pena exactly look like Shirley...😱😱
Fabuleuse !
What was that bizarre brother Warren comment?..
Lee Grabelsky Warren Beatty is her brother, and he had just made a film called Shampoo in which he played a Hollywood hairdresser to the stars. Hence the joke about him giving her a shampoo and set!
🌹💎🌹💎🌹💎♥️🕊️👍
Is she high here?
She is great actress, not so much a speech person.... It feels a little fake to me.
wow! what would it be a good speech person, then? lol
Do pretty
She looks lovely but not terribly dignified. Pull yourself together, "Squirelly."
V
Was she drunk or on something here? She certainly seems it.
It’s called ... being happy, fun, & elated ...
ACTING!!
Omg that was bad. Those loving it, LOL
terrible mother! read the book!
D Zee, can't stand Shirley, but which views do you find evil? UFO's, eternal life, the ascension of living souls?? I imagine you speak from a Christian perspective, which precludes other planetary existence throughout this infinite universe, which is an entirely boxed in, myopic, and self centered way of viewing things, imho. Like I said, I'm not a fan of Shirley in the least, and independent of her I've come to know that there is so much that we don't, and to think that this tiny spec of dust is the center of the universe is an insult to Creation itself.
@@durtyragoux @Debra Frakes, was not (I assume) referring to any of Shirley Maclaine's books. Instead, she was referencing Sachi Parker's book, "Lucky Me: My Life With - and Without - My Mom, Shirley MacLaine". Sachi is, of course, Shirley's daughter.
I never understood her appeal. So icky.
