I know you might not see this, but I havn't really made art in many years. I didn't have any motivation and whenever I did try to create something, I just got upset with what I made. Watching your videos these past few months have inspired me so much that I've started creating again! Even now if I feel like I'm not motivated/don't have any inspiration, I just put on a video of yours and it helps immensely! Just wanted to say a quick thank you, and I hope you enjoy your day💕
not sure if it means anything, but I've been in a very similar situation when I was younger. you can't get back years you lose, but you can move forward and focus on the things you enjoy. Sounds like art is something that is important to you, and that's why you are having those feelings. Try not to be overwhelmed, but rather enjoy the process and watch as progress follows. 💜

I was recently in the same situation. Life kinda got in the way for a while and I lost touch with the art mediums I used to use most and any form of actually drawing (I use InkScape a lot because I can just create shapes on any computer with a mouse and make something really cool, so still creating, just not in ways I am used to, not painting, no drawing, etc.) So it was really hard to get back into it when I had the opportunity. I eventually tried to draw something fast and tiny once a day for a week and it got my drawing gears turning again and I started to naturally decide to draw more often. It's nice.
Although, I don't feel very confident in my skills yet. It's weird because I'm only relying in muscle memory to draw right now, not my actual knowledge, so I feel a little out of control. But it's important to remember that it's okay to not like a drawing, we still learn something just from doing it.
honestly, how you felt is how I'm feeling right now. High school just started for me and I'm trying to focus more on that and my dance classes than doing the one thing I enjoy. And when I do try to draw, I upset myself because I cant let loose and draw what I want to draw. I'm losing a thing I love because of stress and I and I want it back. I also want to say thank you to Waffles because when I watch her videos I remember that it's okay to not be perfect and that I'll grow :)
@Kewtie See I do three dance classes a week and piano, once a week, guitar once a week and a little violin on my own if I have the time plus school, I love all of those things but I’m finding it hard to fit in 5 lessons plus school and practice *and* trying to improve my drawing skills, if anyone has some tips I would appreciate it
The Audrey Hepburn pic was from"Breakfeast at Tiffanies" She was skipping out on her bail and running to a foreign country, knowing she could never return home. In the process, she let her cat go back onto the streets to be an independent mind. Or at least, that's what happened in the book

I actually have depression. I don't want to do anything at all. My only hobby is drawing but I don't even have energy to lift a finger. But this video inspired me a lot! Thank you so much for all your efforts :)

I don't have many people around me so this kind of support really helps :) it's nice to know even If you don't know many people and most of them are strangers to you, they are still gonna be by your side and they will support you. It's just seems too kind and nice to me. I know I talked a lot, sorry!!
On my really bad days, I’ll open line of action and just sketch some 30 second stuff. It makes you feel like you did something, but if it’s bad there’s no real pressure cuz you only had 30 seconds anyway. It’s a nice way to just stop thinking for a while

you inspired me so much as a kid and ive found that most youtubers i like, ive grown out of, but your content still makes me so happy even now. i used to watch you constantly a few years ago, and i remembered you a month or so back and looked you up to see where you were. im so happy to see you still making such beautiful art!! you've motivated me to dip back into art after a few years of succumbing to depression. (it robbed me of everything, all hobbies and passion, and it took art too. but ive started recovery, thankfully). im only 15 and haven't drawn for a while, but i hope one day i can be like you!! thank you so much for all you've done for me, you really are a treasure 💗 you've taught me so much, both in art and in life. you're really a role model for me and i wish you so much success and happiness in life!! thank you!
Thank you for taking time to share that with me! 💜 something i really enjoy about art is the fact that it is timeless and can grow with you. When you're feeling low or high. there is always something to draw and document. Some days its hard, some days its easy. But regardless, when you need it, its there for you. 💜 Hope art is something that continues to help you and bring you joy.
I’ve been dealing with depression (and OCD, ADHD, generalized anxiety, etc.) for most of my life, and I have to say, watching Rin’s videos really help during the tough times. She either takes my mind off of my issues, or reminds me that art can be therapeutic. Even when Rin herself has had difficult times, she has been comforting, uplifting, and inspiring. Not to mention how she made me realize that I love drawing.

Mine would mostly be filled with home offices. I’ve really been pinning those lately, though I really have no reason to do so. I also have pinned some of Rin’s artwork ☺️, speech therapy stuff (that’s my day job), lots and lots and lots of puppies, and pictures of Danny Gonzalez 😍 (my favorite creator from the comedy/commentary side of CZcams). Oh, and I can’t forget all the quotes about mental health and ex-boyfriends 😕. That would be an interesting spread for sure…

Have you ever tried drawing your favorite celebrities in your style? When you drew the Breakfast at Tiffany's scene with Audrey Hepburn (cab, cat)... this idea popped into my head.
This is a good way to practice being selective with reference pictures, instead of endlessly scrolling, you learn from everything
I'm a writer, so my Pinterest is full of texts and quotes along with drawing references, so I don't think I'd be able to draw every single thing that shows up in my "for you" page. But this still seems to be a really fun idea! I'll give it a try some day! Thanks for the inspiration as always, Rin! ❤️

“cool, i should try this,” i say and immediately watch two hours’ worth of five-minute craft pinterest videos instead.
this would be SO MUCH FUN because I use pinterest to look at a ton of architecture as well as various other things so I’d definitely get some really pretty buildings and whatnot!! definitely trying this :)
My Pinterest experience is just open up the thing I wanna draw, open up a new Pinterest tab, and scroll instead of draw.

I'm so grateful that one day i found your channels. when i was in a really like really bad point in my life i rewatched your videos on repeat for weeks straight and your calm voice and explanation on your drawings really helped me to distract myself from everything. nowadays i feel strong physical pain and can't do basically everything that in the past brought me a little bit of joy, but your videos always felt good. thank you very much for your amazing personality
I haven't drawn in years, but a few weeks ago, I decided I wanted to try again. Idk how, but one of your videos was in my recommendations, so I clicked and have loved every one I have watched since. You have helped me recomnect with my love of drawing (and art in general), so thank you for that. I have a feeling that one day, I will be able to draw a decent face. Consistently. lol

My mental health's been getting really bad recently and because of it I haven't felt like drawing or creating anything, but your videos inspire me to want to create (I also got my first drawing tablet a few weeks ago because the first videos I saw of yours was your old character speedpaints from around 2015? time)

I got an illo sketchbook the other day and so far I have 6 spreads of drawings of my pupper, he’s all the beauty and inspiration I need.

I remember when I was younger I was always so inspired by your art and loved the way you sketched. the only problem was I took ALL of your advice, don’t get me wrong it wasn’t bad advice and in general was very good advice, but younger me also tried copying your style, and when I did copy it I’d get super frustrated and angry because “why does it not look like Waffles style!😾” but now I realize that it was kinda good for me to go through that faze, because it helped me develop the style I have today! In conclusion, kid idolizes CZcamsr, tries to steal style, then finds its own and thank you for that waffles

Ugh I LOVE victory rolls. Talk about making a lady look classy! On a side note, you should really look into Audrey Hepburn as a person. She's fascinating! She could speak 6 languages. She grew up under German occupation in the Netherlands during WW2. To help raise money for the resistance she did dance concerts. After she retired from acting she put most of her efforts toward Unicef and helping people get access to clean water.
The Audrey Hepburn pic is from “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”. Great movie. It might be my favorite of hers. 💕 I love how the sketchbook spread wound up looking like a page in a scrapbook.

been in an art funk so i decided to do this along with you (except using my own pinterest fyp). and it's so nice to just copy/draw what you see directly. i'm also passive learning in a sense, since i will jot down what i think looks cool or what i feel like i couldn't quite capture, so that i can look into it later. thanks for the video! it was fum drawing along with you~

This was such a great idea Rin😁 I flip through my Pinterest boards all the time and maybe pick one or two things to draw that are in my comfort zone, but this method would help me conquer some fears and make my spreads way more interesting.
Also the movie still was from Breakfast at Tiffany’s (one of Audrey Hepburn’s most iconic). And the fingernail art was referencing off-set printing which was used masterfully in the old animated classic Harold Boing Boimg😊
It turned out so good! Your art style is amazing as well! I like how it’s detailed but also blocky and you can really identify the shapes! Might have to do this haha! 💗

This was really inspiring to watch, i love how you just draw lines and shapes and then draw on top of them. I'm so scared to do it wrong that i end up failing but the way you just go for it is great.
Pinterest helps me a lot when I draw, especially when i try drawing different poses cause I always mess on on the damn BODY PROPORTIONS AND IT WOULD END UP LOOKING WEIRDDDDDDDD

i usually try to sort of block out a really simple swooshy shape the size of the entire reference so that i can then break down into the more complex shapes. its not fool-proof, but i find it helpful and you might to!
