Good point re performance tune being over written by an update when getting the car serviced. I did ask about that when I got my stage 1 tune done if , when taking my car for a service to the dealer that it may be over written. The tuner said .. no. It won't be. But I don't trust this.
Thankfully my vw dealer I go to doesn’t have pushy salesman. Shockingly.

Last month I sent my 2018 Audi A4 to get its 50,000 service done which is included in my purchase…. They try to get me to do a $750 carb cleaning 😂… I called an ASE certified garage that deals with high end automobiles. The quote: $300

Well judging that my car has an extended warranty I can't modify it too much anyways and it's from 2014 so the paint isn't pristine so all these point are moot for me lol. Though from my experience I actually like taking my car to the dealership because my service guy is always very nice, never pushes me into getting a new car. He always just says if you are ever interested in trading it in, let him know and always asks IF I want my car washed, they don't automatically do it. And luckily for me Audi just recently came out with a recall for the turbo oil filter so I don't have to worry about the turbo's and I didn't have to pay to get it fixed, not to mention with the fix they extend the factory warranty of the turbo's up to 120,000 miles.
Yeah those warranties can be a nightmare to deal with lol glad you local guy is chill and keep it 💯
I guess it depends on the specific dealership, I have a 2019 bmw m340i but I do known everyone at my local dealer, from technicians, to higher management as my family works there, so I only pay for what I request to have done nothing else
