    • @envrie9423

      @@upplysta3497 sure, I own a lot of spitfire libraries like albion One, heirloom, the BBCSO Core, a couple ARO1 brass libraries, and olafur arnolds chamber evo. and more. I also use Musio by cinesamples and Drum Fury from sample logic. The BBCSO is my go to workhorse library for cinematic orchestral music. Being able to add each instrument's part instead of having just "High Strings" or "Mid Brass" I can orchestrate each individual instrument in great detail

    My god that brass hit at 1:20… that and the solo French horn are the two things making me want to stop everything and buy the library now…

    Love your work. I've been getting into orchestral writing and I'm realizing how large of an undertaking it is. You make it look easy and it sounds so good. You deserve much more recognition for the quality of work you're putting out. It's been inspirational finding your channel, thank you.

      @@laack_val3816 Hey Harry, if you already know something about music theory/orchestration my advice is to start doing mock-ups or score studies of the works you like, if you don't, I would advice you to take the time to introduce yourself to music theory (just the basics, nothing fancy) as it helps you a lot to understand what you listen to and it makes it much easier to replicate certain styles/feels in your music and figure out how to write what you have in your head.
      Regarding the software you need, there's plenty of (very good) free/affordable stuff. Here's my personal suggestions: BBCSO Discover by Spitfire Audio (49£ or free if you can't afford it: www.spitfireaudio.com/bbcso/discover/, it contains the whole orchestra); LABS by Spitfire Audio (free: labs.spitfireaudio.com/#category=&search=&new=true, those are different free virtual instruments ranging from synths to percussion to strings etc.); SINEfactory by Orchestral Tools (free: www.orchestraltools.com/sinefactory, here you can find a very nice piano, strings, big band brass and percussion and they're planning to expand the free library).
      Other very good choices are Spitfire Audio's Originals (www.spitfireaudio.com/originals/, a series of many different instruments, 29£ each), Orchestral Tools' Layers (free: www.orchestraltools.com/store/collections/layers, those are beautifully pre-recorded orchestral chords) and last but not least you can take a look at the Pianobook library (www.pianobook.co.uk/, here you can find many free virtual instruments recorded by amateurs and professionals).
      You will also need a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation); those can get pretty expensive but there are a couple very cheap options. If you own a Mac you can either use GarageBand (it works with the BBCSO Discover, I'm not sure about the other libraries) or purchase Logic Pro X. If you are on Windows there's Studio One 5 Artist (shop.presonus.com/Studio-One-5-Artist) and the free demo of FL Studio (fully functional but you cannot reopen the projects you saved after you close them unless you purchase it). Anyway I am not a DAW expert so there could be better alternatives out there that I didn't mention.
      I hope this helps you! If you need more detailed info feel free to contact me on Discord: TToad#6459

      @@trinketstoadsymphony2070 Yes, I thought so too! And while the regular price of US$400 translated to NZ$640 last time I checked, which was pretty daunting, this Sale price more than made up for the difference caused by currency conversion. By hook or by crook I was going to get it. It goes without saying that I'm over the moon about it. Now all I have to do is learn to use it properly.

    You're one of the best mockupers (if that's a word) I've heard man, you've got a new subscriber. I also planned some after I finished my own music. Ive a question for you, I bought Nucleus from audio imperia a half year ago, but at the moment BBC So core is at discount for only 260€, do you think it's worth getting, keeping in mind I have Nucleus..

      Thank you so much, that's quite a compliment! I don't own Nucleus but I think the two would complement each other quite well, as BBCSO has an unbelievably generous articulation set for the price and a more classical sound while Nucleus is way more hyped and can help you reach ff-fff dynamics that BBCSO lacks

    Pretty sure this cue is called "Binary Sunset", and isn't the Force Theme proper. I could be wrong though.
    I hope you don't mind some contructive criticism...
    Overall, this looks and sounds either like the midi notes were completely written in by hand, or if played in, every track got quantized to 100%. This unfortunately drains all life out of this piece of music. The melody especially, should not be played exactly on time. There's a little octave back and forth thing happening at one point, for example (0:32), which should be played well behind the beat actually. Listen to the original to hear the life breathed into it when that happens. The whole point of a movie score is to manipulate the emotions of the viewer, to connect them with what they see via the emotional tie that occurs through the music. And to connect with the viewer emotionally, the music must feel alive. I'm sure you know what I mean.
    Anyway, keep it up -- keep practicing, keep creating..

      @trinketstoadsymphony2070  Před 2 lety

      Thank you very much for the feedback. Actually everything was played by hand and no quantisation was applied (to any degree if I recall correctly, midi files are available in the video description), but I’m a guitarist and keyboard is not my main instrument so things may sound a bit off at times.
      The track I referenced for tempo/phrasing was this one czcams.com/video/eb2zuegwcwk/video.html
      I will keep this in mind for future mock-ups though, thanks again!
