“I was woke before they had alarm clocks” that’s a bar
Honestly this segment was vital for understanding Van Jones and his movements. Thanks for the upload
Love your pic bro 💘
We have the technology to eliminate prisons altogether. There is absolutely no need for prisons. Our mass incarceration issue is directly related to this country's addiction to and dependency on slavery.
I was with Van Jones for most of this interview & revisited some of my negative opinions about him but he completely lost me when he postulated that Kim K "hypnotized" 45 on criminal justice reform in 2 mins w/ "research & information" in their meeting & that he's never met a person who has changed their life so much behind an issue. It's naive and actually kind of idiotic to think that Donald Trump was swayed by Kim K based on her knowledge. That man could care less about facts and information and brags about that fact whenever possible. It was more likely her celebrity, her fame and her looks. That is not a dig at her as that is more of a condemnation of him. And out of all the activists and grassroots organizers Van Jones knows and has worked with, you mean to tell me that out of allllll of those people, Kim K is the one who changed her life so much behind an issue? Really Van? In the whole full year Kim K has demonstrated this more than anyone else you've worked with? I find that hard to believe. I'm sure other activists would find it insulting. Van does great, valuable work but sometimes it seems like he is mesmerized with celebrity, particularly the likes of Kim Kardashian.
Did you listen??? He's fighting for our people. What are you doing besides being critical on CZcams🤔? Oh ok then.
So going forward hard work is not required, you wear a low cut dress, be a white woman and BOOM prisoners are released!
Why does it have to be one or the other? Why can't Kim being doing a good job learning the issues, etc. and Trump liking her because of her celebrity or her looks or her husband or whatever? Does it matter if in the end they were able to get someone unfairly imprisoned released? Most people only do things they think will benefit them in some way...good or bad, consciously or subconsciously. Otherwise, what's the motivation? Most deals are made between people that have completely different interests. Van Jones may be caught up in her celebrity...it's bringing attention to something he has been passionate about for a long time. If he let the opportunity to bring awareness to his cause go because it's Kim K. -- how insane would that be. Regardless, if they are making progress on moving the system towards reform, does it matter if he likes her celebrity, if he likes a little celebrity attention...does that make him a bad guy? Does it make his cause less worthy? It seems like it's more about Kim K. and what you think about her, her abilities, her sincerity, her motivations, her morality, etc. and less about the bigger picture or what was accomplished.
@@lakitawashington3161 Well, I don't assume the worst in people. Despite what you think of Kim, there are already 17 people with their freedom due in part to her help and hard work. Van Jones cannot take the bar exam for her.
If nothing but her celebrity status moved the needle...it was NECESSARY. Get the status, use it for good if you don't like how she does it.
From the Joe Budden to this interview y’all have grown. I don’t cringe when I watch this show now. Stay in this lane
Ramal Brown you definitely don’t watch all the interviews
There's some diamonds that never get a chance to shine. Well said, Van.
First of all the only reason Trump tolerated Kim is because of Kanye's friendship with Trump
Black Viking and he’s a star fucker and loves for celebrities to give him attention.
She's not going to law school Ebro 🤦🏾♀️ she's doing an apprenticeship
Great job to Ebro Rosenberg for this interview im back up here as a fan
The Redemption Project is very good...
Great to the work getting the stage that’s needed to deal with issues we as a culture suffer from.
They won’t admit out loud but Trump did that on the strength of Kanye
they sure won't their pride won't let them
0:31 did a history project on him and the green deal in like 08. Cuz came a long way.
I think that if Kim displayed this more on what she doing it would be digestible. I’m all for this change and support from her and her platform. I hope the special or documentary she is doing will give better light to her involvement .
I freakin adore this man!
Special shoutout to every law student, whether Ivy League or not, that are grinding it out and studying, day in and day out, to achieve. Kim Kardashian was forced to pretend she's in law school because of the first person that was released at her behest. Stop letting celebrities make a mockery of due process. What a damn shame that Van had to overcome many obstacles but made it to an Ivy League school only to give credit to a celebrity for doing what he couldn't do.
Don't hate the player, hate the game. Kim is doing what is required to take the bar exam in the state of California -- she didn't write the laws. People act like she should go to law school because it's required in other states...well, it's not in California. She doesn't have to do more to make you or anyone else feel better. Take it up with the state of California.
We need a Bishop movie from Marvel
Salute to him
This is truth we are down bad here in Georgia. Red city always have been this way.💯🙏🏿🙏🏿💪🏿💙
Andrew Yang is my pick
incarcerated 1989-1991 product of The War on Drugs (Blacks), forward 30 years and i'm still discriminated against for employment to say the least...
I still find it crazy that he’s getting a divorce but wearing his wedding ring 😂 He better get his girl back if he don’t wanna be done
What did he say on Twitter that people define him by in a negative light?
19:32
What was ol girl doing at 25:46???
Trying to get that limelight.....
Lol
Rosenberg corny
Good interviews not too many dumb questions and my guess was able to finish his point and it shows we need to start accepting people for their Good Deeds
I hate the Kardashians I think he's giving her too much credit but I think he's on to something
Ebro and P interject at the worse times. They r so eager to her their own voices.
For those who were upset with "us" working with Trump..
LISTEN TO THIS!
@Tony w and thats the point. People get upset with just the setup of the bipartisan meeting without knowing the details. They just get upset for no reason
Tony w This is absurd and naive. Please go find the counter arguments online. They will not work with “US”. All current evidence and 40-50 years of modern politics says otherwise. First step act is a borderline nothing burger and will benefit white collar criminals (whites). Only reason conservatives went for it. Van is delusional or being self-serving when he praises right wingers. He went to CPAC and did the tootsie roll for those racist. Got more receipts if needed.
Google Hassan Nemazee if you think I’m lying.
@@spalm3887 this guy just explained why he does what he does and the means he uses to get results. We shouldn't automatically look at him with a stank face just for sitting down with him. I'm pretty sure if sitting down with Trump was beneficial for you you would do it as well. You're naive to think people wouldn't...
If you knew sitting down with Trump would secure the release of a loved one...you wouldn't meet with him? 🤔 We don't know each other, so i can't assume what you would do - but i think most people would take that meeting
@@spalm3887 you lost me at "find the counter arguments online". Stop trolling. Get a picture and a life.
Hmm... Kim knows how to talk to Trump because she knows how to get thru to Kanye perhaps...
No UBI = no vote from me. Andrew Yang all the way.
Van Jones us a TOOL.
Sooo van joned why don’t u help MEMPHIS since ur from here ....
He's been doing for Memphis. Don't be clouded.
What about white and Mexican inmates there are a lot of them. Umm seems like only doing it for one race.
BLEXIT and Red Hats for everyone ...
HHHHHHHILARY?????
My biggest problem with Van Jones is that he's way too soft on Obama. Obama could have cleared the prisons of all kinds of people and he dragged his feet and waited until the last minute to do anything. And what about Tulsi Gabbard? She's the anti-war candidate to vote for.
Loan Audits CAL LMH would he have lost on a lot of other issues?
@@Poizon4evr Not sure what you mean by your comment. Who lost on what specific issues?
@@Poizon4evr Do you mean that Obama would have lost on other issues had he done this in his first term? He won with a super majority. The world was his oyster. He choked. Trump passed a better bill than Obama did, and yes, Obama could have. Obama HAD THE MANDATE and he simply didn't use it. Killed a lot of people with drone strikes though. Expanded 2 wars to 7 though. There are black people being sold as slaves in Africa again. i understand that legislative work is very difficult. But the hard work was done, the mandate was given and Obama STILL DIDN'T DO CRIMINAL JUSTICE REFORM. He didn't even close Guantanamo. SMDH
Loan Audits CAL LMH his priority was Healthcare. Understandably. Supreme Court picks. All of which grinded to a halt after his beer summit. During the first year of his presidency. A black man was shot on his own porch, and Obama tried to bring leaders in the black and white community together over a beer.Republicans lost their minds and he lost his "oyster" at that moment. This also created the tea party that handicapped him for the next 6/7 years. After that, if he wanted to do anything, he had to play it safe
The reason why their separating kids is for safety for the kids , their is a lot of human trafficking going on and they want to make sure the adult is verified as a parent . So its super difficult to determine cause none of them have identification
That made way too much sense to be in a hot97 comment section
Yeah, you need to do a little research and I don't mean listening/reading right wing media. That is not why they are separating kids from their parents. Jeff Sessions told us all why they were separating children from their families. The fact that you don't get what is happening...you don't realize that people have been coming to this country seeking asylum forever and it wasn't until this racist took office that suddenly they are all criminals, drug smugglers, human traffickers,, they have diseases, they're super-human, and any other horrendous image he can conjure up to scare people -- it changes constantly. Remember the big caravan...you know, the one he ranted and raved about and then never said another word about after the election. He knows you aren't going to the border to find out for yourself what is true or not so he can feed you all the bullshit he wants and you're happy to accept it as true. Let me guess, you don't think that North Korea is a nuclear threat and he has a healthcare plan ready to go? If you haven't heard...the man lies on average 21 times every day...he just may be lying when you're listening, too.
@@justmemadison lmao your an idiot I work with a bunch of Mexicans whom I'm friends with. Some of them like Trump and some don't, but they tell me what goes on when their crossing the desert and they understand why kids are being separated. Right wing ? Here's an link from the Washington post so you can do a little research www.washingtonpost.com/national/obama-administration-placed-children-with-human-traffickers-report-says/2016/01/28/39465050-c542-11e5-9693-933a4d31bcc8_story.html?noredirect=on&.5ff63f612d5b
@@justmemadison yet they were separating kids while Obama was in office..is he a Wacist too😂
@@steverowe3 That is not true. The kids that were held under Obama were kids that were not of legal age and not accompanied by an adult. He was not having kids taken from their parents.
A LOT OF KEYBOARD ACTIVISTS IN THE COMMENTS
Trump 2020,
Got my vote.
Holla
Van can flat out say "if you're gonna attack my words, at least look at my deeds", and not afford Trump the same dues; see this discussion on prison reform and black/hispanic unemployment for starters; the inability of Van to give Trump credit is actually disgusting and its only an indictment on him
Trump's deeds included separating thousands(3000+) of families and infants/children from their mothers. So it's not the same at all. He did some good things but thousands of bad immoral inhumane thing.
If he had deported them as families with their children even that would have been better. But Trump was flat out wrong plain and simple
People don't just dislike Trump for no reason
And I'm not a huge Illegal Immigration advocate. But there is just a way you go about things. Especially if there USA wants to consider themselves a world leader and call other countries out on their human rights record.
But the war on drugs has separated millions of black American families...... Where's y'alls outrage?
@@jaha4056 You're right I'm outraged about that too. Both situations are wrong
