Rates need to come down by 2 percentage points in order to stabilize the market,the longer they hold the more foreclosures,you young guys were not selling real estate in the early 90s when prices dropped by 33%

You’re right but right now demand extremely outweighs the amount of foreclosures we are seeing. Even if people are struggling in most cases people are able to sell their home for a good price before the bank takes it. At least in the freehold market in Toronto. I have seen some (not many) foreclosures with condos.

Foreclosure is not a bank model in Ontario (if not most of Canada). The larger banks here have no interest in being in the real estate market at that level, unlike many of the smaller, regional banks in the US. Therefore the banks here move at a snail pace to foreclose, offering options to work with the seller to save and/or sell their property. The channel host is correct, the property would sell way before the bank ever got to the foreclosure stage.
