I'm gonna have to start order some of these jigs online. I have about depleted most of my micro jig supply and can't find any at tackle stores in town. Hopefully they will have some over at Bass Pro, need to make the trip soon.
Thanks, Richard. This one knocked some dust off old memories. The last time I used micro jigs like these was many years ago, didn't have the luck you had. In my defense, I was using a stiffer rod and probably 6 - 8 lbs line. Now I know better and after seeing you do it today, I'll have to go back and try it again with proper equipment.

Up Nort those are our ice fishing jigs. Been using them year round. I open the hook up a little more so it hooks in deeper on the fish.
They work great under slip bobbers now up here (Nort) too and through the spawn. That, and an underspin with a tiny B-Vibe swimbait is my 1-2 punch.
Been using this style in CA for years ...just don't tell anyone folks out here for panfish have little ethics. 😮

After trout fishing I started using the smallest jigs called Pro Lites and I ve caught numerous bluegill, 15" crappie and 15" bass on them w an ultra pole set up. They like the ginger color and white. I fish small lakes w my husband in Missouri. Love your videos. You give fishermen confidence.

I too use small jigs, my g-son brought me some #4 ice jigs and small fry baits to put on them and they r crappie getters!
The Walmart Shakespeare micro 7 ft pole is an awesome pole I pair it with a Shakespeare micro reel and 2lb or 4lb test and its one of my favorite poles to crappie fish with

Hey Richard gene love your videos it’s educational plus a lot of fun entertainment I got a little float tip I thought of . I noticed you sometimes use a little small float . I have some foam ear plugs that you roll up and place in your ear and they swell back up. So I take a size 6 hook tied to my line and compress the plug top to bottom flat while it’s flat run hook through it then take the aversive hook off and to jig to it now it takes I little while for the ear to expand back up but it works good and seem to hold the depth without slipping you may want to try. I just cut one or two slots off of the trout magnet and put it on a size 10 or 12 jig and it works as a smaller presentation

I dearly love your videos. You said you are looking for a more limber ultralight rod. You'll have to look for it but the Berkley TRS220 is the most limber rod I have ever seen. That sowbelly is only half as limber. I have seen them on ebay from time to time. Its the best finesse rig I've ever owned

I took off work this week to fish all week and its been the wettest April that i can remember. I got to fish Tuesday, Wednesday, and 3 hours this morning. Caught the fire outta the smallmouth bass here in the Licking River. My plans were to fish the Ohio River to get on the skipjacks, catfish, white bass, and hybrids, but that was not to be. Ohio River is blowed out to the max. My bank spot is under water by 25 feet!!! And it looks like chocolate milk. Kinda disappointed
Yeah, I am in the same boat in the Florida panhandle. We had tornadoes and a bunch of rain yesterday and the wind howled today. Our rivers are gonna be way to high. I'm probably going to drive over to the East river on Eglin AFB. Its the smallest river in the area, so it shouldnt be to bad. Maybe hit one of the creeks in north end of the county for choctaw bass.
But when we are at work the weather is beautiful! Gotta love how that goes

I have used a wet fly to catch crappie from the bank during the spawn. Micro baits are great for crappie
I use the BPS Micro Series Elite. 6’6 Light Moderate and it’s real limber as well. I can sling a 1/48 no problem but idk about a 1/200th lol
It's funny this popped up and my daughter just caught a monster crappie on a panfish magnet tied to a tiny bobber pretty close to what you had and I was like, I need to downsize baits. I had only tied it on because the worms she was using wasn't working.
Try out ACC crappie sticks Richard. They have some super limber rods!
A lot of the time I'll tie on a mini trout magnet about 8" below my main jig, and I find a lot of the time they'll hit the mini magnet instead of whatever other jig I use

Thank you for showing the bite indicator with uni knots on either side! That is simple genius right there! What size of bite indicator do you recommend? I think they come in lengths ranging from 0.5in to 0.3in.
Oh, and bending the hook out a little bit too! I swore that experienced fisherman always had little secrets like that to increase bite rate. Thank you for sharing!

The 1/200 heads are great and when I run out of plastics for them, I just trim off prices for them from old damaged bass lures.
