    Thanks for this. I have plans to learn how to reassemble one of these for my 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse. I will be taking an Auto transmissions course in school. What is that blue grease being used? Im still new to transmissions

      It is assembly gel made specifically for transmissions. Comes in three thicknesses. Red, blue and green (thickest). Made by Dr. Tranny (Lubegard).

      Found them on Ebay also. There are 2 different sizes so measure yours to make sure you get the right one.

    Thanks alot for the great video, I'm from Australia and recently rebuilt my W5F51 transmission (the five speed variant of F5A51) but the transmission has two problems after rebuild
    1. When I put it in drive the car moves but won't change gears just goes forward at walking speed. It won't up shift at all.
    2. When putting in reverse it Jerks Violently!
    I replaced the easy stuff like speed sensors etc and checked the fluid level, but no have worked.
    What a possible cause would be?
    Thanks in advance 🙏🏻

      Sounds like it is in failsafe mode. Need to know what the codes are that are stored in the computer.

      @@CurmudgeonTransmission it's a Mitsubishi Verada (Diamante) and uses very rare MUT II system, I have a complex OBD 2 scanner but can't read transmission codes on her

    I don't think there's a trans out there you haven't worked on. Do you have any experience on CVT's? Thanks.

      Either it is misassembled or there is a problem in the valve body. Sounds like you have 2 elements applied at the same time.

    Would I be able to do this without a press?

    • @CurmudgeonTransmission
      @CurmudgeonTransmission  Před rokem

      You could use a piece of all thread and nuts. Then you would have to get creative with stuff to use to compress the pistons, but yes, I would say you could.

      I've done c4 s but this looks to b a little more complicated

    • @CurmudgeonTransmission

      Not too much more. Just pay attention to where each snap ring is and the steel plates. Some are special and need to be oriented properly. Any questions don't hesitate.

    The solenoids are all 5 identical?

    • @christiancarrera6780
      @christiancarrera6780 Před rokem +1

      Mark the solenoids (numbers, letter) is the best way to say time and no make mistakes if you dont have information of the solenoids

    • @CurmudgeonTransmission
      @CurmudgeonTransmission  Před rokem

      Christian Carrera is correct in that you should get in the habit of marking your solenoids before taking them off. So many transmission nowadays it will get you into real trouble if you get them mixed up. This one however the solenoids are all the same. If you have a code you can swap them and see if the code changes.

      @mayan34956 Před rokem

      Thank you for that information. Yeah I wanted to know if they were all the same. My car threw a code p1751. It's in limp mode. I haven't figured it out yet

    • @CurmudgeonTransmission
      @CurmudgeonTransmission  Před rokem +1

      That is a code for the relay. It is located next to the computer under the center console, under the radio.
