Their job is to collect samples for scientific research. They can’t pause in the middle of taking a sample, when they have a question or need to clarify something about the sample being taken, just so someone can finish their explanation to the viewers. I notice them interrupt each other a lot when something unexpected or new shows up, as well. It’s just the nature of their job. It would be bizarre if a cool/beautiful/strange creature floated by and no one said anything because they were trying to let someone finish an explanation.

There are methane and oil seeps in the Southern California Bight; some are in relatively shallower water (e.g., 60 ft). We studied a series of Seeps off the campus of UCSB. They had bacterial mats too (Beggiatoa) and we found that the anmials in the area were utilizing the carbon from the petroleum as a food source via the bacteria.

not a qualified marine biologist but from working in the patch there is probably some warmth in the bubbles, despite the fact they're emerging into a ring of clathrates - it depends how deep down they are coming from but just a few meters and the temperature of the crust would be more significant than the sea bed (infra red would tell you right away) in fact I'm pretty sure of it - if they were not warmer the hole would ice itself over (thanks for the video, so cool) possibilities for the black stuff bitumen (natural asphalt) possibly carbon residue (coal) very interested to know what the white jelly-like stuff is, I know some wells put out very strange salts of barium and the like (which precipitates when comes in contact with hydrogen sulfide, very bad for valves, pipelines, well bores)

At 02:01 a fish drifts from the right side of the screen and then disappears out of view at the bottom right of the screen, just as the jellyfish comes into view, and a fish(which looks like a filefish(but I don’t know if it’s one of them) drifts down from the top right, and goes across the screen to left and it starts to curl up, but it is definitely not swimming, and that makes three fish when one comes into view from the left, which also looks like it is in shock too, so to my untrained eye this seems like a dangerous place for some fish, because at least one swims strongly out from inside the vent/hole.!.!.!.
And so, It looks like some of the fish are being adversely affected by the heat or lack of oxygen(or possible poisoning from the methane or other substances in the water), because one of them stopped swimming, another one curled up and a third fish seemed to be inert too..... So, is it something like those brine pools, which can send fish into toxic shock.?.?.?.
Also what was the red ball shaped thing that drifted across the screen at about 00:40->00:45ish.?.?.?.

@@charmio 6:50 is so blatant its not even funny. The arm was messing with the tool trying to get it out while she was talking and next thing you see is the tool being used in the dirt already while she was still finishing her sentence. There was a few more but I am not gonna sit here and point out the obvious to someone more than capable of doing it themselves. And to your question of knowing how to use CZcams I am a part-time broadcaster and video editor with over 5 years in biz. People like you just need to open your eyes. Its not like its a bad thing but it does seem kind of suspect why they would do something like this but I understand that live feeds like this have to have to be edited just in case it might contain sensitive and or controversial content from what I have been told in my profession.

@@hydmonger2816 @Biker Trash Sir, I have misjudged you. I take back any doubt of your CZcams skills or authenticity. I misunderstood what you meant by time lapse. Upon rewatching that point in the video what I first took to be switching between cameras does indeed appear to be a cut. And you're right, it does seem strange that the audio track does not reflect it. I'm actually not sure what to think of it. I still find myself wanting to believe that it's the original audio from the control room cleverly edited but I am no longer certain of it.
