    Threaded rod connectors are very handy things. A very good solution and saves a lot of money using equipment you already have. I would need to modify a set of GSA pannier racks if I wanted to fit my GSA boxes to my Bullet though, the mounting system is typically complicated!

    Very good looking idea and nice to see proper fabrication! I am curious though, when I bought my classic 500 in France it came with the stock RE brackets used for the square bags. Fitted straight onto them were aluminum boxes. No plates at all. However I hated the look and removed them day 1 as I am a softy fan. On my South African Classic 500 I use the same stock RE brackets but I had my bags custom made, def not as easy to remove as yours. PS the GS connotation is a bit wrong , the Enfield is a far superior bike😂. Looking forward to seeing the final product.

      It adds less weight than running with a pillion passenger. It’s only going to be used for specific trips when the extra storage will be needed. I also have the performance camshaft which does improve the power which helps 😁

    Brilliant idea Ian!!!
    I have just ordered a Classic 350 and collect it next Wednesday!
    I plan on using your great idea of using the original Pillion Frame to mount my Givi Topbox.
    I have ordered the Givi Mounting Kit (I didnt know you could buy the fittings separately, I was going to buy an expensive Top Plate!)
    I am going to design and make a Bespoke Top Plate, luckily I am a Design Engineer so I have available Laser Cutting and CNC Folding!)
    One small problem, I do not have a Top Plate available to get the hole centres for mounting the Givi Fittings.
    Do you have any measurements that you used for the Givi Plate Dimensions?

    • @tigerness5555
      @tigerness5555  Před 4 měsíci

      Hi Andrew
      Great to hear that you enjoyed my video and found it interesting.
      I’m sorry but I don’t have accurate measurements. I used the alloy top plate from my Triumph Tiger 900 as a template to get the exact hole locations.
      Sounds like you have so much more hi tech equipment available to make a really nice custom mount. So much better than the hand tools I used.
      These are great wee bikes to tinker with, I’m sure you’ll also really enjoy the ownership experience 👍

    you must spent many hours marking and drilling,, fraction of the cost of Givi if they did make racks for Enfield, am sure you can knock off the squareness and drill some holes all over to lighten them up without weakening nice job,,

    I'm curious how much weight does it add to the bike?

      Not a great deal, definitely less weight than having a pillion passenger.

    How'd the bike cope with the weight

    • @tigerness5555
      @tigerness5555  Před 6 měsíci

      It shouldn’t be a problem, as it will still be less than the weight of a pillion passenger.

    Eat your heart out BMW!! I bet the Givi cases cost nearly as much as the bike?? My only question is how difficult is it to get your leg over the bike?

    GS = Gelände Sport. Nothing not in the slightest can be found here. Not even considering my personal translation of GS: Goldwing Sport. Maybe Goa Seeker. all I can see is that even brits don‘t trust craven bags no more and buy italian Givi. Nothing else, luggage boxes have been used for almost a hundred years on enfields.
    Ah, I get it you must have read about „Gepäck Sklave“, considering the little enfield would be perfect for it. Technically no problem, absolutely. Now you have a little bike as wide as a car. Wonderful. Although the old Enfielders went much narrower with their boxes then. I suspect that‘s modern evolution, right?

      I’ve used Craven panniers and boxes on my bike in the past but the Givi ones are far superior.

    Something I don't understand is this compulsion to compromise the riding enjoyment with luggage. It is a bike not a delivery van. Quick errands with the low slung removeable panier make sense but making them heavy with extras works against a safe ride. If you are going to do an overnite send your stuff ahead via courier then you can ride better.

      Would you be happy to ride with a pillion passenger on your bike? If so then I can’t understand your logic. The weight of an average adult pillion is around 75kg, the total maximum fully loaded extra weight of all the luggage I’ve added to my bike is 35kg. Also all the weight is positioned in exactly the same line as where the pillion would sit. Therefore in conclusion my bike will be 40kg lighter and perform better than having a pillion.
      I also don’t think you get the idea of motorcycle touring, it’s much more than just one night in a hotel.
      Hope you enjoyed the video 👍

      There are options to adding all that stuff. You obviously understand my perspective. Yes a rider is the same thing I don't take passengers. Touring is fun. Making the bike into a luggage cart is not necessary and contrary to the safety etc. I enjoyed the video always do.

      It has zero detriment to safety. If so you would have read of people falling over or wrecking all the time. Its a matter of the convenience of carrying necessary items with you in a lockable, secure case. I am adding these things to my 500 classic as well. My other ride, is a Harley Davidson Electra Glide Ultra Classic. These vehicles are not only my adv bikes but two wheeled trucks as far as I am concerned. Are the bikes lighter without them? Of course. The fact that you choose not ride with a pillion, does not mean it is unsafe to do so, nor does it mean its unsafe to ride with luggage.
