Baitcasters are a very popular fishing reel for a very good reason, they can be used with deadly accuracy when casting expensive lures into tight cover. Of course this all comes with practice and getting an 'educated thumb'. It all starts however with some basic understanding of how your baitcast reels works, setting and fine tuning the bells and whistles on the reel, and understanding how to apply pressure with your thumb. Daiwa Australia's Shannon Watson explains how. - Sport
I spooled it with 8 LB test mono for lighter lures, gave it some practice casts and found that it did cast well czcams.com/users/postUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e , except that the anti-backlash setting had to be turned up almost all of the way to keep the "overcasts' ' down. I disassembled it, and found that if I potted some "shim washers" behind that anti-backlash magnet assembly, it got the magnets closer to the spool without rubbing, and I could get better control with about a 6 to 7 out out 10-Max setting. I also noticed that the handle shaft had some internal end play, maybe only 2 or 3 thousands of an inch, but it's still noticeable. If the anti-backlash and shaft tolerances were "tightened up" this would be a fantastic value. I've only used it for 4 days of fishing in a month's time, but I plan on keeping it.
This is so far the best explanation online on how to cast the bait-casters. Thank You.
Agree 100%
Best how to on baitcasters on the net! Thanks a lot, you saved me a ton of backlashes!
Voxguitarsrock Best indeed..
I just picked up the ZX100HLS from Cabelas Tournament series. My first baitcaster ever. Thank you for the explanation of where I am messing this awesome reel up! Cant wait to start pulling in fish with it!
Just got gifted an old Diawa BW2 bait caster. Fixing to take out fishing this afternoon and thanks for the help.
Shannon Watson.
Knowledge and skill combined in a pleasant easy to understand voice.
He could teach a hell of a lot to some of the others trying to tell would be low profile bait casters how to do it.

I agree. No loud voice starting with "What's up guys" or crap music playing. Just gets on with it.
Very good video. Straight to the point and instructive.
Thank you for such a clear explanation. It was exactly what I needed to know. Now I will have far less trouble and a lot more fun with my Daiwa reel.
Very good info! Thanks.
great review!
Great video!
Thank you, that really helped me.
Very nice video and explanation.
I'm right handed but learnt to cast with my left that way you don't have to swap over to wind I find it so much better in controlling the reel a bit of practice
Great info as im new to bait cast reels. Thanks......
Love the advice!!
Great Video....
Thanks!!
hey what lure were you using in this video
what kind of line are you using?
If my reel is on its most sensitive setting and i can pull it out with ease yet i can cast because it gets stuck what should i do to fix it?
Love diawa, just bught a diawa d-cast bait cast combo
Felling Alive... Daiwa awesome
I just picked up a daiwa exc100sh on a quantum lite pole at the pawn shop for $20. The combo looks like it's in great condition but I have never used a closed face reel, so naturally I have some questions. Q1 can I use this application in saltwater or will it corrode quickly? Q2 Did I get hosed on the price? Q3 Could I use live bait on a hook n egg weight, or does it only work with lure/artificial? I mainly fish salt but hey fish live in all kinds of water right

Okay i’ll try my best to answer but i may be wrong so correct me if i am.
A1: yes you can, just thoroughly clean the baitcaster after each use
A2: 20$ for a diawa and quantum combo is a nice grab.
A3: of course, you can use baitcaster for dead or live baits. Just make sure the weight on the other end is heavy enough to pull the line off
Very useful !!
Damn your not even looking out for crocs standing there in the water!!
what size lexa is tat 100?

Great rod decent reel, worth it for just the rod!

Carlos Arauz braid
*I'M THE 200,000 VIEWER!* Wow. I Have a Daiwa PMA33 "Procaster" It casts amazing years later, but I cant find any info on it anywhere.
Like mi
Daiwa needs to go to a "clicking" spoil tension knob (what he's calling the main brake). Own two tatulas and just got a fuego...actually sending the fuego back because it simply doesn't cast as good as my cheaper abu pro max. In fact I just bought my second one to replace the fuego. Been a huge daiwa fan but moving away.
Like my friends

who taught u
how to use a spaghetti caster
Australians say DIRA not Daiwa.
Step 1. Pick up baitcaster with your right hand.
Step 2. Open the trash can with your left hand.
Step 3. Put baitcaster in the bin where it belongs.
