    At 62, I am learning so much, albeit not as fast as younger djs, but getting there an inch at a time. It's been a trip.

    I love your videos man, but I take a fairly different approach to bass house. I feel like there are 2 types of bass house tracks, ones that have 2 drops, and some that have one main drop that everyone wants to hear. I like to play the full song no matter what and mix from main drop to the new songs intro. BUTTTTTT....... In order to shorten the longer bass house tracks I will set what I call SKIP cue points. The first SKIP cue point that I always mark in yellow is the place where I want to skip to a new section (sometimes skipping over a full chorus) the second SKIP cue point I also have a HOT CUE setup on. SO when I get to the first SKIP point I just hit that HOT CUE and I have advanced myself 32 or 64 bars ahead, but only if it sounds seamless. This way I always get to play that main drop but I'm still able to edit the song on the fly to be shorter in length. I have huge success in this. As well, all of my Bass house sets have one, two or three DROP SWAPS. Here is a freebie. Try replacing the second drop of Öwnboss & Sevek's "Move Your Body (Extended Mix)" with the drop from Skrillex & Bobby Raps's "Leave Me Like This (Original Mix)"... FIRE You can hear an example of this on my Mixcloud set here: mixcloud DOT COM /jackmono/rare-blue-mustang-set

    Thank you for this video i had this exact problem when or when to mix in my next song and most of the song are 3-4 minuts long so you do not always have enough time to get the right drop but what you said made so much sense i will go and try it

    This was such a wonderful and helpful video! My question is always how to flow my mix, What is the proper balance of going full-length song into another full-length song or to go hot cue to hot cue. Imo the best balance is to give the audience the excitement of new drops and intros while still enjoying the full length of songs not to "rush the set". Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find the right balance

    • @ClubReadyDJSchool
      @ClubReadyDJSchool  Před 4 lety +3

      That's a tough one, I like mixing fairly fast but I find sometimes putting in full tracks (especially the tracks people love and respond well to), evens out the feel of the mix a little. Keep practising my friend :)

    What would you recommend when using decks that don't show visualisations of the waveforms or cue points? I'm using Pioneer XDJ R1's and my struggle has always been actually being able to tell when the drops and everything are

    • @ClubReadyDJSchool
      @ClubReadyDJSchool  Před 4 lety +3

      The XDJR1 is a tricky. You're right visibility is beyond bad. Personally I'd treat it like a controller and connect my computer.

      @@ClubReadyDJSchool Thank you for replying :)
      I'm not sure whether it's able to do that... so far all the comments i've seen online say that it can't be connected directly to a computer... do you know of anyway that I could find out?

    • @ClubReadyDJSchool
      @ClubReadyDJSchool  Před 4 lety

      @@acarya7874 YOu'll have to look into it but just google quickly and Pioneer wrote this: You must either export content to a USB or use the XDJ-R1 as a controller for Pioneer DJ (performance mode).

    Don’t you take out mids and lows while mixing in the new track? I saw you only taking out the Hi frequency.

    • @ClubReadyDJSchool
      @ClubReadyDJSchool  Před 4 lety +2

      IN truth I made this video a little easier for newbies, but to answer your question, what EQ I use depends on where I am mixing into the song. For instance if I was mixing into a part that had no bass, then I may just soften the transition by taking out the highs, however if I was mixing over the top / end of the chorus I would 100% be using the bass and mids.
