In this video I will cover everything needed to DJ Drum and Bass and point out the things you need to watch out for and be careful of. I’ll start by showing you the most basic way to mix Drum and Bass but stick around as by the end of the video you’ll know how to loop in, where are the best places to mix in your new song and how to beat-match tracks that are over 70BPMS apart!! - Hudba
dnb is all about managing energy levels, knowing when to go for a big build and a big banger, knowing when to throw in the double drop, knowing when to keep the energy rolling, and knowing when to dial it back and give the audience a break with a deeper and more minimal bassline.
You're the man, I can tell! You obviously know your stuff :)
If ur Andy C you double drop by default and know when to go for the triple
And when u playin' a neurofunk set u go completly heavy and dark the whole time :)
@Yiska DJ yh man , digging the heavy stuff right now , Loxy , so good 🤟
This is it.
im not even into DnB, just came here for the positive oz vibes lol
get into it, especially liquid DnB :)
Dan Black Hi Dan, I LOVE DnB, but to be honnest I’m not so familiar with it... I prefer the more deep and dark sounds and bass. I don’t like vocals most of the time and I really hate yelling mc’s... If you want to give me some tips (I don’t know what liquid DnB is), please let yourself go! 🙂
@@Slatanicmushroom imo Alix Perez' label 1985 Music is the best label atm, also, you should check out Halogenix, Skeptical...;)
Satanicmushroomfromhell Satanicmushroomfromhell I’ll happily accept that invitation. In regard to liquid DnB, some of the best artists in the scene atm consist of Calibre, Technimatic, LSB, Lenzman, Pola & Bryson etc. A set that helps explain what liquid is like would be something like this (czcams.com/video/A4rwYUF0tWM/video.html) from Lenzman. But as Henning has said a good place to start if u like those deep and dark sounds would be the 1985 label. A good but only small example of what they’ve got to offer would be this banger of a set (czcams.com/video/yWpJmPDw90k/video.html). Give those a listen and if uve got anymore questions just shoot 😊
Satanicmushroomfromhell if the links don’t work search ‘Lenzman Keep Hush 2019’ for the liquid DnB one and ‘Rampage 2019 Alix Perez’ for the more darker one. Hope this helped
Tbf, with DnB I've always believed track selection is by far king. Compared to different genres where sometimes u might need a few more technical skills to spice up ur performance. Good advice on letting ur song breathe though. Really important to allow the crowd a bit of time to cool down where they're all pinging off their nut haha
@@Ninja_Gaijin There really is its ashame, liquid, minimal and jungle is the way :)
love your vibe man ngl. could you do a vid on double drops?
the black bars over the reds on the EQs 🤣 gave me a good giggle
You know what makes your tutorial videos so much better? All the others sound like someone sat there reading an instruction manual. Watching you is like having your mate stood there teachig you. You can hear the passion and enjoyment in your voice, and it makes your videos so much better to watch.
Wow, thanks, I appreciate this so much
@@ClubReadyDJSchool i love how you just start jamming in the middle of the videos, you learn just as much from watching that as you do the main video
drum and bass is so easy and fun once you understand how to EQ the mixing to max the bass/drum kicks without making synths clash if you mix in the meat of the track but it all boils down to simple tricks like rewinds, cuttin one track out on the break of another or long smooth mixes. dnb is my fav. great video
You can tell this guy loves what he does so much. And something about that makes me really respect him ☺️😎
I appreciate this, thank you :)
Always had a soft spot for DnB as it’s quite popular here in the UK. It’s rather fun to mix when you know how so thanks for breaking it down for us I feel like I know more than I did 👍🏻
Ive been waiting for this one! Thank you so much for this video on DnB. I love playing with these types of tracks. Your energy is contagious! Keep these tutorials coming. Thanks again - Brian from California.
13:05 if you arent redlining you arent headlining 😎 jk 😂
Recently getting back into Djing after a long hiatus. Stumbled across your vids looking for tips and tricks because Djing is so different now than it was in the 90's. So much so I feel like I'm starting all over again. Your vids are the best I've found. Very straight forward and to the point, which is so valuable to find in todays information overloaded age. Thanks for taking the time to make these! Cheers Fam!
I love literally every single one of your videos! They’re so easy going and chill and your smile is so contagious! Super quality tutorials that you put out and I’m so glad I managed to come across your channel! I hope that you can hopefully one day make a riddim/dubstep tutorial because you honestly just have a way with explaining that makes it so easy to understand and follow vs other DJ tutorial channels. Thank you for doing what you do and helping out other aspiring DJs like myself, much much love!!!!!!!
Thanks so much, working towards a dubstep one :)
As always... great video! Usually I am more into House / Tech House, but D&B is so much fun to mix.
Bought the course a few weeks ago to learn something during these strange times - best decision ever. I was already into DJ stuff, but the whole course motivates you even more.
If you are still thinking about buying this course, just do it. This guy deserves it.
Just what I needed. Thank you. I mostly spin House and Techno. Just started DJing DNB this past year and fell in love.
DNB has forced me to pay attention to song structure which has helped me tremendously
Man, I don't even have any dj equipment at all but, I was suggested one of your videos a week ago and you have such an amazing energy and personality that I had to subscribe. And who knows, maybe one day I'll buy some equipment and get some use out of these amazing tips.
With this, I watched twelve of your videos, and I learned so much how be creative and how to develop myself as a DJ. I'm just a hobby DJ, playing music for my colleagues and my friends, but I want to give them the best experience and sounding and also I want to be a better DJ :) Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge 🙏
As soon as I get paid your course will be in my basket, thanks for doing these amazing free videos, your attitude and energy is such an inspiration!
Good shit bro, u have no idea how much you’ve helped me with all these videos man. Much love keep it up
Most software analyses dnb at half, so your bpm spreads between 80 and 90, and sync buttons do not like dnb at all due to the offtime beats
Gilane Caroto I realized this in serato dj pro, I was confused why all my dnb songs were 87. To fix double click the bpm range and alt* up arrow to double the bpm. You may have to adjust the beat grid.
Yh, in traktor too this happens alot, just tap the bpm hit x2 and off you go. Make sure sync is off ;)
Thanks for these vids. Between you and the lockdown, I will emerge a super star Dj. Or maybe a bit better than I was, which is fine with me. Love that you use the EQ so much. My clubbing heyday was the mid 90's. No trigger mixing or drop to drop, just beautiful house music melting from one track to another. Thanks again.
Any chance for a tutorial on trance coming soon?
Psytrance and goa subgenres would be awesome too
isn't trance just faster house for mixing purposes?
You need more, recognition. Much more quality content than some other stuff on CZcams.
Love your energy when your mixing.. it's infectious 😂
Thanks for tips, mate! Now that I use these techniques mixing became more vivid and club-alike. Much appreciation 🤩
Honestly, your totally throwing out the vibe of a good teacher who really wants to show people how to gain both skill and passion for mixing live music. I was debating on your course, or crossfader's and I'm feeling your vibe is better. So I'm going to sign up for the course sometime next month as money allows.
So good sale on that, you've got me convinced
Thank you, I really appreciate this and it's good to be recognised in this way - you're going to love the Tribe!! email me for a discount code if you like, just mention I mentioned it: andrew@clubreadydjschool.com
Always good vibezzz bro, keep on uploading
loving the tunes and the videos thanks man. much love
cant believe i wasnt subbed, been watching these vids repeatedly as i begin my journey, thought for sure i'd hit the button before!
LOVE dnb, been delving into mixing it as well 😍
Love those Tutorials so far, really looking forward to the one about Dubstep😁😍
Thanks dude loving your content.
Stop giving yourself a hard time it's about attitude.. best teacher attitude this guy is cool. I love drum and bass and the teaching is proper cool. 👍👍
Thanks Casey :)
I love the energy here, I can't stop bumpin either. Rad beats haha c:
Wow , really helpful tips here , am pretty new to mixing dnb , just tried out the teasing in loop technique, works a treat love it ;) Keep up the good work man, u are legend 😁
Hey brother
Your videos have been a big help so far for me and they are free 🙂
@ turning 40 this year I wished I had started 20 years ago but love what my friends say about how I'm doing so far .. so thank you and I will be jumping on your online courses when my controller turns up in a couple weeks ..

You'll love the course Sonny!!!! welcome to the Tribe
Exactly what I needed. You earned a sub.. Thanks man
Great video, DnB looks quite hard to mix due to the tempo and amount of layers (e.g. vocals) the tracks have. I like how you mention allowing the breakdown to play out as it also gives the crowd a rest from the high energy parts too; it can get tiring out there on the dance floor!
Enjoyed this immensely, for the info and the vibe. Cheers from an Aussie loungeroom junglist 👊🔥 Would love to see a vid on how to mix the more dubby, Amen-style goodness.
This guy is so happy. 👊🏾👊🏾👊🏾 DNB for life!
bruh i feel like i got a +2 level up just from watching this video, understood dat feelin wath you trying to tech us, thx
This is sick man no idea you liked dnb too! Proper helpful as well and I would love to see more tutorials on it
Nice tutorial mate!
I came in for a mixing tutorial and ended up with a great message for life. If you make mistakes, just roll with it. Or in the words of a very wise man: "We don't make mistakes. Just happy little accidents."
Would love to see a full track list for this vid 🙏🙏🙏
Love your videos and your Chanel thank you!!!
I love this man
He doesn’t stop smiling, I love it 😂
Awesome video. Just love the way you get things across. I admit im a LL fanboy and he has actually given me lessons 1 on 1. But man i just cant follow him because hes so fast and does not really explain why hes doing what he does. But you break it down, and then im like "Oh ok, yes of course". It just clicks and i get it. Top man !.
I appreciate that so much, thank you :)
Amazing video❤️
you're a legend, subbed
i've been into tech house and house for the longest time and ive just been getting into DnB. I told myself i wanted to be a tech house DJ but after finding a new love, this is mainly what i want to mix :)
I feel you :)
Oh wow 2 years later when I first started watching your videos and I found my comment! Came back to this to freshen up my DnB!
Great video Andrew!
I've managed to figure a solution to the half bpm situation, can save some time when beat matching, try set the bpm range to 90 - 190 when you analyse your tracks in your software, if you do use software prior to loading onto cdj etc hope this helps someone!
dude you are amazing
Im a huge fan of dnb and thats why I want to get into mixing, but I cannot focus on the video because of these bangers! I lost my mind on how smooth you have dropped hangjaw by gydra :D big up, thanks for the video
A trance tutorial would be cool. Love your videos.
This tutorial has actually helped massively love the content 🙏have you got a link to the playlist used in this video?
That’s awesome! I was wondering when you’re gonna do dnb!
This is great 👍
wicked video man !
This is golden
Top videos very helpful 👍
I considered requesting this on one of your other videos haha. I fell in love with DnB late last year and I tend to go between this genre and tech house a lot when practising mixing but find DnB quite challenging at times for various reasons. Personally I find beat matching harder with DnB than house, even though I know what to listen for. But due to how much is often going on in the track and because there will often be very long synth only intro's with no discernible beat I find it hard.
If there is one thing that mixing with DnB has taught me though, is using phrasing better.
That Lady Killaz track is DOPE!!
Grande, grazie molto dei tuoi consigli 👍
Drum and bass can be a bit crazy to mix but as long as you know your tunes you can set it up pretty good.
I also do a lot of trigger mixing/cutting out at the breakdown for my UKG/Bassline tunes. It really makes it dumb effective and lets the songs have that tension before the drop. I also do that for house a lot as well lately too.
It's a good way to mix - very energetic, almost like a statement - great minds!!!
Thanks Man!
Great video here! For analyzing dnb tracks I force rekord box to analyze at 100 bpm and up so all my tracks have similar bpms. Then I don't have to worry about math in the middle of my set.
can't believe he hit us with that gydra track ... big up
Thanks man, I guess I am giving myself a hard time mixing drum and bass, but I mean how can you not? With so many amazing DJ's out there that double or even triple drop perfectly all throughout their set the bar is just super high. I guess I should just have more fun like you ^^
I like doing all that too and actually have a tonne of videos on drops and more creative mixing as part of my course, but this video was designed to build beginners confidence :)
Another great video, It would be awesome if you uploaded a mix of your own one day on here I’d love to listen! 😊
Working on it!
Much love
Thanks!
your vids are awesome, by far the best on here! Would love a How a 'how to mix disco funk' video if you got the chance :)
I am something in the works :)
Very good video :))
Hackers is such a good song. Love Mr Robot
Could you perhaps do a in depth video about organising your music library? I'm currently thinking of a way to organise my essential USB stick. Just categorising in genres doesn't make much sense to me personally for free sets. Love the content so far!
That's a great idea! Sure thing
800th like 😁! Love the UK Sound recently. But more underground, so jungle and rave.
Straya!!!!! More please :)
Watched this like 4 times now.
I'm gonna keep jamming a bit with my gear and have fun, and in maybe 4 to 5 months I will basically say shut up and take my money. 🤣 I want more content and I'm really interested in learning with structure.
Hackers by Metrik is such a bannger!! Together with X ray - subfocus (metrik remix) sounds sick :D
Great tutorial do one deep house and techno
a riddim/dubstep like for example Subtronics and Midnight T, how they double drop and drop mix, etc. thanks for everything you do!
RodriFUT98 YES!!! omg I would love a riddle/dubstep tutorial so much
Yea naaaa mate best teacher for ALL genres
Your channel name is actually "Best DJ on CZcams"
Simply adjust the bpm range in Serato when analysing your tunes
I actually got requested to make dnb beats this helps alot
Awesome video bro!! The transition with the vocal at 13:00 was sick!
I like DnB and my favorite dnb Dj is DjMarky from Brazil, if anyone here is new to DnB check him out he is a dnb legend!!
Thanks for the video!
Cheers from Brazil 🇧🇷
Marky is a don. I've seen him at Boomtown 2018 - pure insanity. Quality DJ.
Teacher you are always great please make a video for retro house music like Dimitri Vegas and like mike you are my inspiration love you so much
U gunna be doing more tutorials or what, this is one of the only good dnb tutorials about
Great video, what is that tune called that was mixed in at 14:24.
ohhhh baby D&B is Alpha!
Nice:)) would loce to see hardtekk^^ do you have a recomondation where to download tracks?
try www.soundeo.com
Alot of software than analyses BPMs will have a X2 and /2 option to double or half the BPM. Have you given dnb double drops a go yet?
I love you :)
PLEASE MAKE tutorial on how to mix different genre with different bpm???
13:20 sound great
Hey mate love your videos and nice to see some dnb. One question I have for you (or anyone) is how do you always make sure that when one track drops off eg at 10:16 and to have the track coming in at the right time. Is this to do with where you've set your cue points? thanks so much!
Music phases mate. Every 22secs(16bars) in dnb the music changes duno abt other music types as I only play dnb. It’s just a case of figuring out how many phases to the drop.
Paul's right, t's about phrasing. Personally I feel phrasing and understanding music to its core needs to be conditioned. Sorry to promo the course but I love it and what it can do for people: www.clubreadydjschool.com/club-ready-dj-course/
How to mix Hardcore Please :D
Loving your videos mate!
That's a good idea!
