Firefly, Harley Benton, EART, and IYV are really doing right by the majority of us musicians out here that struggle with finance. There's nothing wrong with high-end and/or vintage, doctor/lawyer guitars. I have 1. But I reach for my IYV or Firefly more often. If you gotta do a lil' setup, put on new strings, lubricate or clean the fretboard, or even file or polish the frets. Even if theres a nick(relic) or two in the finish. I welcome any of those scenarios, or all together. Its worth it after you're holding a gig-worthy instrument. I'm glad I found your channel. You're a nice person, a cool dude, and have great chops! Your right brother...I can even change the pickup to sound at a pro level.....I have a Jackson guitar yet I love playin my cheaper Yamaha just feels good
I agree! I think if I could have had this kind of a guitar when I was 14 (when I fell in love with playing guitar), I would have probably ended up in the ER because I would have played the damn thing 24/7 with no sleep! I kid you not! My parents could not afford a decent electric. Any guitar really. Took me a while to get one ... I would have cleaned toilets with my bare hands for a year if I could have had access to something like this! I look at the guitars I have on my wall here (a few keepers I've accumulated over the years) and every time I play them, I never forget those days! No regrets, don't get me wrong. Just a humble feeling and a totally different time for those who start now! Follow your dreams, fall in love , grab a FireFly and never put it down! Setting up a guitar is part of owning a guitar anyway! Cheers!

1st time seeing your channel, I plan to check out more of your videos. Thanks so much for playing a variety of music styles in your demo! Was very pleasantly surprised when You threw in some country licks! Loved it! I almost didn’t click the video because I judged a book by its cover and thought the demo would only have maybe some blues/rock riffs and mostly high gain stuff. I’m very happy that I was wrong. New sub here, first time finding your channel. Like many here, I came for the review on the FFTL but stayed for the playing - ai Jesus! I think that if you wax pot those pickups you might defeat a lot of the microphonics, though I dropped a matched pair of Seymour Duncan Quarter-Pound pickups in the semi-hollow version of one of these and it became a whole new machine.

Sounds like a telecaster to me. And I have to admit like everybody else. I think you’re very good player. The neck pick up sounds divine just perfect.

Thanks for the review, Camilo. I just purchased it today. My first firefly! I have a number of top name brands, but my last 3 have been bangers, and good ones at that. It apoears their latest Telle's have a slightly rounder headstock. A bit more Fender like without cooying it, outright. Its just the right off-white cream color with the Can. maple neck. Looking forward to using it on my music. Have a listen! Enjoy, and good luck on your channel, brother.

Thanks Chris!!! The reality of things is you’d prob wanna swap out pickups on most strats under $1K anyway. My first two strats were mexican strats and I changed the pickups on both.

I recently got their blue sunburst model (see profile pic) and now my Squiers are starting to collect dust 😂. It's a heck of a bargain with the stock pickups! Nice review and terrific playing 👍🏻

A set of Bootstraps flavored to your taste would really wake it up. Ryan's hotter Nocaster-alike Pretzel pups bridge pairs really well with one of his Skookum PAF-alikes.
I like that this one's a white/white guard. Fresh pickups, compensated saddles and a thin guage bridge plate you'll be rarin' to go
SMOKIN Playing, as usual, sir.. If you roll the dice and get a good one, Firefly guitars are killer for the money. I got a pretty much perfect FFLP in 2021 (59 cherry burst looking one) and the important bits, the fretwork, and the neck, and even the pickups (though it needs to be rewired for 50's wiring instead of the weird fully independent volume controls option it hs) I love it. it feels awesome in the hand and is really effortless to play. Low action, no high frets.. Definitely a better out of the box win than even the FF338 I bought before that one, which needed to have a couple of the frets pressed back in and glued down.

Be nice to see an update video on the Firefly strat mods. Also, what's your take on Maple vs Rosewood fretboard on a tele? Do you still get the tele sound with Rosewood?
I still havent upgraded this one! I did upgrade the strat that I bought from them and that one is pretty killer. This tele definitely has the “tele” twang thing. Only thing I can say is a little odd at first is it feels like it has a flatter radius than my other two teles which takes a sec to get used to at first.
@@CamiloVelandia I was hoping you could do an updated video on the strat now that you have upgraded it. Just want to hear the difference. Be nice to hear a before and after comparison.
Agree 100%: The bridge p.u. is actually more "Telecastery" than my USA-made Tele, and it does not have the icepick highs of most cheap copies. A few frets do need leveling, though even there you can get away without doing that if you don't want to bother. The pots are fairly decent (whatever OEM Korean company that makes pots for Fleor makes these); the cap is an unbranded metallized polyester film capacitor (473J 630V; similar to Cornell Dubilier caps, though I doubt very much they are CD caps). Bottom line is that there is much to like and a good set-up will cure most problems.

Camilo - your playing is excellent. I love all the variety of tones that you got, not masked by a bunch of effects. Great review. You play like a professional musician and it looks like you have a professional set up, what is your main gig? Session musician? Performer? Recording artist?

I've wanted one since they came out with them, but I just hate the headstock shape. They just changed it on the newer ones and added flame maple necks. I'll be pulling the trigger now.

Hey David!! I believe so. You can get some fancy pickups, and new tuners, and your guitar will compete with anything in the $1000 range, in my opinion!
Lots of us already have good tele pups...that would be a good modding platform

Yeah man, it's insane the quality you can get nowadays with some of these brands. I currently own their 335 style (338), their strat, and their tele. I would say, looking it at it from a professional perspective, I was expecting to do upgrades. The real magic there is their job of choosing good woods and making killer necks. Both the strat and the tele sound amazing acoustically. Both necks feel incredible to the point I was considering buying two more strats, just to use their necks for two old mexican fender strats I have. I can tell you honestly, my firefly strat with its upgrades gets more playability than my fender mexican guitar which also has lots of upgrades. Join the firefly facebook groups so you can really see what people are saying.
The colors are what Im looking for in a tele not to mention the belly and forearm cuts! Stainless steel frets wow! I have to get one once they are available, they sell out so quickly!
@@dragan4658 They do! I actually didn't have any guitars in olympic white, so when I got the matching strats & tele pair. So classic and beautiful!

BTW: This year's NAMM opened my eye's to CREAM GUITARS from Mexico. That guy and those guitars, like vintage les pauls and strats, are gonna be valuable and rare someday soon. Those CREAM guitars are just mindblowing. If anyone has one, lemme know what you think. Thanks😊👍

Not at all. Its my opinion that every company should make it this easy to adjust the truss rods.
That a guy who plays as well as you do proudly plays an inexpensive (but high quality) instrument says a lot about you and a lot about Firefly guitars (all good).

Camilo! How could I fix the microphonics on these pickups without replacing them?
Man, unfortunately only way I know is wax potting. As I understand it, everything is loose in there and thats what causes all the issues.

Can you recommend a nylon string electric guitar along this line that's playable, intonated, quality sound but reasonably priced? Cover band guy that would love ❤️ to explore Latin and jazz styles
Hey! I really like the Cordoba GK. You can find them used for around $500…. I used it and record it way more than my other nylon strings that cost over $2000

Heard about a lot of quality control issues with Firefly. Some are great, out of the box. Some have a plastic nut, instead of bone. They often arrive damaged in shipment, or arrive with factory flaws.
But then again, according to some CZcams reviewers, they arrive perfect, flawless. It seems a very hit or miss proposition. Also something to consider.
If the material quality is really that good, at that price point, you have to know it was made by slaves. Could be some bad energy in that…
The cost of living in China is 40%-60% lower than the US, and labor is cheaper there. Im not an expert in China’s economics or labor laws, but that seems to explain why the costs would be lower.
