- #CanadiansinCostaRica #movingtoCostaRica #expatinterviews 'Canadians Move to Costa Rica Just in Time đšđŠ đ« đšđ· 6 Months In What Do They Think' Ricky and Lisa are from Canada. They moved from Canada to Uvita Costa Rica 6 months ago. Around the same time, Canada's Daddy, Trudeau, realized he was the anointed one. I digress. Anyway, we first met Ricky and Lisa when they responded to a job opportunity that we, Travel Costa Rica NOW, announced on video back in May - 'Business (Job) Opportunity in Costa Rica đ» Work with Travel Costa Rica NOW' which can be found here- âą Business (Job) Opportu... We were looking for folks interested in helping us with our new CZcams Channel, Travel Costa Rica NOW Real Estate. But this video, 'Canadians Move to Costa Rica Just in Time đšđŠ đ« đšđ· 6 Months In What Do They Think' isn't about that. It's about Ricky and Lisa's story moving from Canada to Costa Rica. What made them think of Costa Rica. What was happening in their lives that prompted even thinking about living abroad. Did they research, do their homework? How it going here? Is the honeymoon over? What do they like and what don't they like about living in CR? They answer those and many other questions. I love that they are young because I know based on the emails I receive is that more and more young people are thinking about, Costa Rica. So Rickay and Lisa might just be you about a year ago. IF you're thinking that the rat race isn't a race you want to compete in and you're looking for options, check out this video, 'Canadians Move to Costa Rica Just in Time đšđŠ đ« đšđ· 6 Months In What Do They Think'
**It should be NOTED that Ricky and Lisa have no real estate experience, which is fine with us because we're not really trying to sell it. Travel Costa Rica NOW Real Estate site will have interviews with agents, lawyers, builders, expats who have bought or built in Costa Rica along with videos to help you make a decision whether Costa Rica is even right for you or not, let alone buying or building anything. Solid, truthful information.... but yes, we will have listings as well and will help to facilitate buyer with seller. Just FYI.
To recap, if you're thinking that the 'simple life' the 'pura vida' life is for you and you have Costa Rica in the back of your mind, then check out this video of our Canadian friends and now partners, Ricky and Lisa from Uvita.
If you're not sure what some of the most popular places in Costa Rica for Gringos to live, here's the short list, in no particular order. Central Valley (San Jose surrounding areas) such as Santa Ana, Atenas. Jaco, Manuel Antonio, Dominical, Uvita, Osa Penisula, Samara, Nosara, Tamarindo, Nuevo Arenal, San Ramon, Grecia, Nicoya Peninsula (Malpais and Montezuma) and there's even a couple gringos in La Fortuna. lol. This is a very short list, with a million places between.

I know. You are right. I interrupted too much. I'm working on it. my apologies. I am trying to do better. Thanx for calling me out.
It's OK for intimate conversations not so much for video interviews.
STOP GENTRIFICATION. Go back to your country please. Gringos, green go!
very humble of you for saying that, the world needs more humility in people!
Amazing! Iâm Canadian (Ontario)
I just bought land in Costa Rica (rural) and canât wait to start building my life in paradiseâŠgoodbye CanadaâŠđ

Thanks for sharing this great interview with Lisa and Ricky. It looks like they have the right attitude to create a wonderful life in Costa Rica. đ
This was a great interview and supper informative! We actually met Ricky and Lisa in Uvita a couple weeks ago. Super excited for all of you about the new real estate chancel.
Iâm from Costa Rica and Iâm thinking to emigrate to Canada at least for a couple of years, but when I see this kind of videos I feel lucky to live here, I can go to the beach, mountains, national parks and other beautiful places in just hours
lets trade citizenships! lol ..canada is going towards communism, avoid at all costs right now.
Did all these things. But in Victoria bc
@@bullishbear2686 Victoria is cold and miserable though, grew up in Toronto and now in St. Vincent with my family. I visited Victoria when I was younger, is horrible, filled with old people.
@@kal-os5391 wow what am oversimplification. Hope you donât paint every place you see with such a broad brush or youâll be just as miserable as beautiful Victoria BC
@@bullishbear2686 nothing you say will convince people to think Victoria is a great city. The place is constantly dark, rains a lot, miserable weather, lacks culture with so many old white people or university students. It's absolutely horrible there. Full stop.
Fantastic report as always thank you đâ€ïž
Canât wait to get down there! Just sold my house in Alaska!
The biggest thing is NOT to try and change Costa Rica. Stay out of politics. Leave their country and the way they run it to the Ticos.
You are very welcome pura vida
Jesus you should be in politics in Canada. Love how we have to abide by a small countries customs when we move there but here in Canada immigrants do whatever they want and claim racism if you have an issue with it.

I think this couple explained info very well. I'm in mid transition to do same ..sell all and move. I also have 2 big dogs and look forward to interview with them regarding experience they had moving their fur babies. Love your interviews...thank you
Very great video Mike, I enjoy the interview. Nice great people. Que Viva Costa Rica.
I am always laughing at people telling me NOT to go to Costa Rica because of the crime rate...I live in a part of Dortmund/Germany where nearly every house was robbed!
Most likely the result of the folks your leader is letting into the country.
...yes, highly likely so. The part in which I live here is one of the richest of the entire city. Houses are sold here for more than 3.000.000 Euros. This attracts the worst folks during the dark hours...
I live in Ontario and my landlord steals my stuff.
Go to Detroit USA and you'll run to Costa Rica đđ
En todas partes hay criminales, solo hay que tener cuidado.
Great video Michael! I always enjoy when you interview new people's experience moving there. It motivates me to move down there also
I like the video I thought of going there and visiting checking around maybe move there. I will have a heart problem with a mosquito situation in it stock I'm very allergic. Don't know what you do for with mosquitoes especially I think houses there don't have screens. That would kind of be like a deal-breaker for me not having in the screens. But I like all the greenery and trees and flowering tropical flowers I would like for you to do a video on the insects that are in Costa Rica.
Mario, it depends on what part of the country you decide to live at. There are some provinces much cooler and lower temps where the windows and doors are completely closed and others that aren't, good luck!!
Great video. Can't wait to visit CR in the autumn. My just be the place for me to move to. Sounds like a great place. Thank you for sharing this interview.
Hey I'm from Toronto Canada I left in October 20 2021. Just before Trudeau closed the flying doors. So glad I did. would love to connect to a fellow Canadians.
Hey you still in Costa Rica, How is it!?
As always great job!
Are you getting close to your 1 year interview? Looking forward to seeing it
That's interesting, I was discussing Costa Rica w/ my hair dresser at Young and St. Clair yesterday đ đ nice
Great interview Mike! I always enjoy these kind of videos. People sharing their experience. We are coming down to live from California to retire one more year! Is it really that hard to find a really nice place to rent that's furnished?
This was a great video. So informative. We are Canadians as well and about to retire. We love Costa RicaâŠwe were just there for a month. My husband is ready to go but I am still on the fenceâŠusual worries, kids, elderly parents etc. Anyway, canât wait for the next video of Talking to CanadiansâŠlol. Would love to connect with you and them as I have so many questions.
Thank you for sharing. I am seriously considering moving in Costa Rica. I went there four times and many places in the world, but it is my number one place on the planet. I will look into your channel. Iâll maybe see you some day.đ„°đ
I am looking to visit Costa Rica in about two months, in order to see if it would be a good fit for me to imigrate to from Canada. Your videos are extremely inspiring and and informatuonal. My views and life philosophy seem to be quite alligned and really resonate with many of the things that you talk about in your videos. I am seriously impressed with the great content you are producing. Thank you for the vaat amount of information that you are sharing.
thanx, i really appreciate that.đ
We are from Quebec, Costa Rica will certainly be part of our travels
We just moved here from California 3 months ago and are looking at the area they're in. Currently in in Grecia. Soooo true about the driving in snow and driving in a storm, just as nuts!!!!
Great insights!! Just in time for me as well... I am in Edmonton and plan to fly south in mid-late October. I think it will be Playa del Carmen first as I have an old co-worker there with his wife whom I would like to hang with for awhile. they also got out in Jan. and come from Calgary... small world. I expect to 'visit' CR for a border run in Feb-Apr. Hope to see some of you, maybe, for a tour or some further insights. Cheers.
Just caught the video. Ricky and Lisa, welcome to Playa Hermosa! We own a home there and will be moving there fairly soon. Can't wait to meet you both! Pura Vida.
Wonderful! What part of Hermosa are you near? Looking forward to it!
Great report Costa Rica need more people like you
Lots of people are realizing minimalism is the way to go.
I heard Costa Rica will welcome Canadians with open arms. I am very interested in moving there. Thanks for this video.
One other thing. If the vehicle has cab filters, they could be plugged. My daughter's car had intermittent a/c and I changed the plugged cab filter and it is running 100%.

18 years ago I sold the relatively little I had in Canada and moved to Costa Rica after coming down for a two week vacation. I' m still here. Battered and bruised, wiser(?) but generally happy with my second life here. Good luck with the Real Estate.. it's a tough dog eat dog roller coaster ride here.
why are you battered and bruised?
Can you share what to watch out for in terms of real estate?

Employment - the sheer number of availible good paying jobs versus what you can find down south. Hard for most to make that dynamic work without having a ton of money ready.
Well done you two. My lady and I plan on doing the same. Grew up in Calgary then moved to Victoria 17yrs ago. We stayed for a month in Liberia which my dear friend referred to as the ghetto. I felt safer there then here. Hopefully once my work dies down a bit we will spend another month there looking at options. Again in Liberia but would like to met up. We are figuring Februaryish next year. Love the channel by the way

Really? Victoria makes you feel a bit uneasy? Come on man!
My wife and I live in USA. I'm from Russia and she's from costa rica "Island", and I experience tica time every time we leave the house. đ€Šââïžđ
Island?
LOL I've learned from my tica wife, tico time is leave the house at the set time the appointment is for....
I LOVE your table. What is the material it is made of? Was it expensive?
After retiring I did the same thing ... and I don't regret it at all. As far as crime, just like in the States, it can happen anywhere at any time so you take precautions and don't flaunt your wealth.
Petty theft is a national sport in CR.... Lock your stuff up... be diligent and you can avoid most of the problem.
@@imxploring hope you're joking about the national sport cause as a tico that's little offensive đ
@@TEN-perez Unfortunately I'm not joking. Victims include gringos as well as my Tico friends.... anyone with some time in the country will confirm this.... sorry if you found this insulting.... but it's unfortunately the truth.
Love the country and the people.... too bad crime and law enforcement are an issue. Not so much robbery and violence.... but petty theft is an issue.... there's a reason for all the barred windows, barbed wire fences, and night guards.
@@imxploring reason is people like to feel safe specially in their houses, I'm not saying this is paradise and there's no robs here but come on bro so sorry but your comment about "national sport" is just not accurate, is offensive to the country and it has no sense at all compared a rob with a sport, im 35 years old and me or any of my family have been never robbed here but sadly there's bad people anywhere in the world, just as an example have you seen the channel called: Active Self Protection? you could learn some useful tips from it there's plenty information on the internet but people keeps losing their time in unrelevant stuffs
I've been looking at going to Costa Rica for 3 months from June-August of 2023, and have just been checking airbnb. The prices are about 1500 a month. I was shocked to hear that they're only paying 400 a month. Any advice on websites to check for rentals?
I had a chance to meet those two... and they are so zen... really chill folks with amazing energy...
It was SO nice to meet you guys as well!! Wish we could have another chill visit with you guys in the future!

I havent finish the interview, I am living in Toronto right now, and we have plans to move there. How hard it is to get the permanent residence? I am Cuban, we scaped Fidel dictatorship, and as I can see, Trudeau wants to take that path.
I'm surprised how many people mention the Turd as a reason for leaving Canada

Hi Mike ! Looking forward to meet this people. Always watch your channel, and plan to move to Costa Rica . I live in Ontario work 11 hours every day. In 2023 gonna retire at 60 . I use to make 5 dollars a month back then in Poland. I went to Rome Italy and can of pop in the vending machine was 2 dollars. So my dream of travelling from Poland was gone. Pretty sure if you go online they say you don't need a visa to go for 90 days , past 90 days you either need to have pension, or income of over $2500/month OR have 60k to deposit into a Costa Rican bank ( business plan helps too )
You need 2 years worth of money saved at $2500/month which works out to be about 60k. Not sure what employment is like there but if you were a digital nomad , or bought property to turn into a Bed and Breakfast etc you are Golden.
