      So glad you like this quilt, Fran! Must admit I was a bit concerned about all the busy prints, too. Keeping some definition between the lights and darks directed the contrast and really toned down the prints. It let everything to shine together! Just the way we want it, right?! Happy Quilting,

    It's so interesting how tweaking just one or two things can make a big difference to a block. Log cabin blocks have always been a favorite of mine, but I've always made them "traditionally". That is cutting each piece to length and the same width. The changes you show with showing a long strip to join fabric strips and alternating the width makes for a much more interesting layout! Thanks for sharing :)

    Just started a log cabin and was so surprised at how quickly it went together, i used sample swatches and cut the longs to size beforehand so I could use the fabric best, the pieces were all different sizes my longest cut was 9in so that limited my size, I cut the logs at 1 1/2" finished at 8" blocks x 20 blocks The fabrics were from several different lines with different colour ways. Just love it ready to sew blocks together will add a couple of boarders, it will be a quilt for charity, all fabric from my stash, my reqirement this year, whatever I sew must be predominately from my stash. Blessings to you all and just have fun.

    I don't understand how the thick and thin strings work. Could you do a demo sew

    • @InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise
      @InspiredQuiltingbyLeaLouise  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes, Jackie, I will. I'll be doing another soon and will show how it works. What's important for this block is to keep a narrow strip on each side so it remains squares. It can be placed in any row, but needs to be on all sides. Thanks for your comment, I'll be sure to include that explanation in the tutorial! Happy Quilting,
      Lea Lousie

      Thank you for your comment, Sandra and know that I understand what you're saying. Many quilters are looking for new ideas and ways to use what they may already have on hand. My goal is demonstrate and teach ideas to that end. The quilting conversation is important to me as I'm not just talking about today's quilt. It's through this conversation that I hope to inspire quilters to find their own style and confidence. Besides, I LOVE talking fabric! LOL Thank you so much for watching,

      Right?!! This bundle has been on my shelf for 4 - 5 months, Kathleen, and I just couldn't decide what to do with it. Who knew a log cabin block could be so stunning? I love it. Now to make the quilt top.
      Finding the FQBundle may be difficult as it's from 2020. The link I included is only for yardage as I can't find this online. I purchased this from 'Quilting at the Beach' in Myrtle Beach, SC in March. They had all the fabrics by the yard and may be willing to cut you a bundle. Alternatively, check out QTFabrics. They' include a list of shops on their website and you may get lucky with one of them. Good luck! Happy Quilting,
