It's funny that I just heard "She Wants to Dance With Me" on the overhead music at work last Friday. It's the first time I heard it at work; they must have just added it. I had forgotten about it, since I hadn't heard it in years. It's a funny coincidence that two days later you have it on your channel.

Cry for help is an absolute MUST, amazing song so different to his 'pop' stuff. He's released an album a couple of years ago and his voice is still superb. 👏 anyone who can sing his greatest hit onstage with The Foo fighters HAS to be a legend 😂

When I Fall In Love - My Arms Keep Missing You - The Love Is Gone - Pray With Me - The Ones You Love - I Don't Want To Lose Her - Don't Say Goodbye - Try - Angels On My Side, just to list a few. Its his deep register that is just amazing. He's also still performing and his voice is still great.
Also, y'all need to check out the Stylistics. Betcha My Golly Wow, You Make Me Feel Brand New - Break Up To Make Up - I'm Stone In Love With You - Stop, Look, Listen - Ebony Eyes - Because I Love You Girl, just to name a few. Great lead singer & fantastic harmonies. Like Rick, they never did a bad song as far as I can tell.

Great to hear this one again! This was a breakthrough for Rick as SAW production team allowed him to write, record and produce some of his own music. This was the first single from his follow up album and it is one of his songs. Oh yeah - the next one needs to be the mellow Rick - Cry For Help! 🔥

it's amazing how things happen in life, Rick Astley was seen by Pete Waterman of 'Stock, Aitkin & Waterman' recording studios, and was employed as a 'Tape Op' & 'Tea Boy'. The reason for Astley to be hired as a 'tape op' & Tea Boy' was to help him to overcome his shyness. The plan was that with being with lots of musicians & artists would help him overcome his shyness. One day in 1987 they where waiting for a well known singer to arrive but the singer was very late, so Pete Waterman asked Rick to just sing so the musicians could 'tune up', and to everyone's astonishment this wonderful voice came out and a star was born.

Love this song, Love Rick Astley...he is still performing and recording, his songs never leave your brain, and he sounds amazing! He is also a fantastic drummer, as he shows in his concerts. He drummed and sang" Highway to Hell" by AC/DC when I saw him.
As a teenager he was the drummer in a band called FBI, doing the local pubs and clubs around his home town. When the lead vocalist left the band, Rick took over the singing whilst continuing to play drums.
Rick Astley is fantastic. My music happy place! He has alot of great tracks like this, also Whenever You Need Somebody, Together Forever and my fave Don't Say Goodbye. That song is fire! Was lucky enough to see him live too and he is an absolute showman , hilarious too not to mention an incredible live vocalist. ❤😍

Saw this guy in concert at the height of his popularity in the late 80s. was such a great show!
I'm in that camp of people who enjoyed Rick Astley and though he had a great voice and made some very fun songs (not everything needs to be super deep and send you on a soul searching journey). I highly recommend "It Would Take a Strong Man" because it's equally fun, some great guitar work in it and Rick's vocals are totally on point.
Rick Astley's dad was in The Tremolos, the famous 1960s band that Decca Records having the choice of 2 bands to sign a record deal with, most famously signed The Tremolos and rejected The Beatles and never lived it down forever afterwards.

Fast forward about 30 years and check out a couple of his more recent songs (2018), Beautiful Life and Try. So beautiful and moving. Different perspective as he's now in his 50's.

I am so glad you said about his look not matching the voice. I was a teen when this came out, and I loved Rick Astley. I hadnt seen him, only heard him on the radio, but the first time I saw one of his vids, I was shocked... from his voice, I imagined he was a black man, with a big stature.. but on the tv was this skinny white red head hahaha. Not at all who you expect that voice to come out of. It is a powerful one. He made fun dance to music that we bopped to in the 80s. A top 40 type song. Man, I miss those days. !!! As the two you have listened to so far have been from way back i thought i would give you a more up to date recommendation so you can see what he is like now. "Beautiful life" was released by him in 2018, which is 30 years after "she wants to dance with me" was released.
When the radio started playing Ricks first hit Never gonna give you up in 1987 i immeditely visualised a handsome big Black guy wearing a suit and sunglasses in front of a big microphone bopping about with that powerfull voice ....i had never heard of or seen Rick ashley at that point lol
His voice is so surprising, but it's so nice.
Impossible not to feel good to! it was the same thing back in the day when his songs hit the airwaves and the clubs, then we got a look at his vids and it took a bit to get used to that voice paired with that babyface.

I was lucky to see Rick as part of the Hitman Roadshow back in the 80s and then again when he supported a charity night with Peter Kay in Manchester. Cry For Help is a must for you to listen to, his voice is amazing on that one.
If you look up Stock, Aitkin and Waterman you'll find Rick, Bananarama, Lisa Stansfield and many others all doing fun time music. Some liked, some not liked, but all were danced to.

I became familiar with Rick Astley when I was stationed alongside the British Royal Marines during the Persian Gulf War, cause they had the good music in their open air club 'The Brit Club' and became an instant fan :)
So glad you come back to Rick, please don’t forget he took a long break from music after these very pop hits, having a couple of hits in 90’s ( cry for help ) and ( move right out) then not much till he came back with his 50 album since then he has several hits including my favourite Angels on my side. I took my wife to see take that in concert for her birthday a couple of years ago , rick astley was the undercard . Take that bored me to tears but rick was brilliant . He did some of his new songs also and there good . He does like a cigarette though which doesn't seem to have done anything to his voice . Hes well worth seeing live if you get a chance
