- Belmont transfer and rising junior SF Cade Tyson has committed to the North Carolina Tar Heels. He becomes the first commit for UNC in this cycle (save for Seth Trimble pulling out of the portal to return). Tyson is the brother of former Clemson Tiger Hunter Tyson and will have two years of eligibility for Hubert Davis.
The Tar Heels still have three scholarships to utilize for 2024-25. How will Hubert Davis and company elect to utilize them? We know they are in the market for a PF, with Kentucky transfer Adou Thiero as the key target. UNC is also looking for a C to replace Armando Bacot, with Tennessee transfer Jonas Aidoo and Rutgers transfer Cliff Omoruyi the current targets. Carolina is still awaiting official word from reigning ACC Player of the Year RJ Davis, whom is expected to return.

We still need bigs!
My opinion on Jalen Washington is that he has to add about 15 pounds at least to be able to play the 5 and be a starter. I like his potential the next 2 years and if he can get tougher the sky is the limit. I know this line up will not happen a lot but would love to see Cade at the 4, Ian at the 3, RJ at the 2 and Cadeau at the 1.
Agreed 💯
I agree about Washington one more year as a backup just to get him 100% healthy and work on his lateral quickness, add some muscle, etc
as fun as that lineup sounds no way it's going to happen. we would probably get abused on the defensive side of the ball with RJ and Elliot. obviously they are undersized. that was a problem last year, especially early in the year defensively. I think they're both really good defenders for their size, but they're so undersized that you need the three and the four to make up for that disparity. which if Cade is at the three he makes up with Great length. then we need someone long at the four. while it's a fun lineup, it would hurt us in a lot of ways more than would help us
Too small
Too small and cade doesn’t like playing back against the basket
I was thinking if the big guy from Rutgers was in the equation then defensively we could make it happen. I agree about the defensive question marks but offensively they would be hard to stop. Ian Jackson is also 6'5" so it's not like they would be terribly small. Again I know that this lineup is not probably gonna happen but if you need a quick offensive spark then Cade at the 4 would open things up for sure.
Cade Tyson is an awesome pickup if his numbers resemble what he did at Belmont. I think if he can play decent defense he will get plenty of minutes. With that said I think that the line up should be Elliot-1, Jackson-2, Tyson-3, Washington-4, (Transfer)-5.
Hey Schafer Ian Jackson is not coming to chapel hill to sit on the bench need to get these young guys playing. Dean smit would have loved having this team
Cade is our equivalent of UCON getting Cam Spencer last year! He will be a difference maker just like Cam did this year!
I THINK TYSON BETTER THAN CAM AND HE BIGGER TALLER A BETTER ATHLETE
@@JohnCramer-yz2rn Cade definitely is taller and more athletic. I’m saying that Cade will have a major impact just like Cam he played bigger than 6”4 for UCON
I'm glad we got a shooter yet we still need a VERSATILE BIGG MAN with strength I know coach DAVIS WILL put the best players on the floor I trust in him EVERY DAYERRRRR BIGG KUSH CHECKIN N 👣👣👣👣
The way players are today I just hope this does'nt make one of the 5 star recruits bolt for another school.
Ian Jackson ain't going nowhere he is a competitor massive chip on his shoulder and Drake is a dog who will compete and guard the s**t out you those guys will play and play alot
@@JohnCramer-yz2rn only a 40 minute game, can't see how they'll play too much
I like where we are now. I would love Cliff because I feel like he is the best fit for our run and gun offense. Im good with our guys at the 4 but ingram would be huge
To add Thiero and Omoruyi on this team is a strong possibility. The potential of this team is mind-blowing,but Im not getting too attached to these two until they BOTH commit. I will say that Isaac knows much more than he reports. I feel like another commit is on the horizon.
If we can add Thiero and Omoruyi the Tarheels can be a top 3 team. If Omoruyi commits I believe Thiero will follow after testing the NBA draft. This would give us blockbuster athleticism on offense and defense. Our bench would be awesome as well.
Outstanding get for our staff. We got our guy! Now we need one more piece to be a legit title contender.
I think he’ll be our “4”. Elliot at the 1. RJ at the 2. Ian Jackson 3. Washington 5 unless we get another big
That’s a really small lineup
@@Raigshow I agree but he’s 6’7 which is what Ingram is although Ingram will be much more physical
We might be a top 5 team next season
Not with those Jalens
@@Crimson-Ox We gone add two more guys
@@JohnCramer-yz2rni sure hope so and if they are decent then we are going to be a top 5 team with a tremendous bench
How bout both Jalen’s at the 4 and 5 with Tyson at the 3 combined with the best backcourt in the country. With our bench we could possibly have the best depth in the country
Guess I should’ve watched the whole episode before I commented. lol. Only caught the first few minutes this morning before work and just it the rest
NICE PICK UP LETS KEEP THT 3% AT 45 % GO HEELS
I think he does. Even though it's a big step up in competition defensively he was used to being the number one Target for opposing defenses just like Harrison was at Stanford. now Cade would most likely be the third, fourth or fifth option in the lineup? not to mention he's playing with the best passer in the country. Elliot, I feel like he definitely will shoot at a great clip next year, especially with his length. what a great pickup! I hope he meshes with the team as well as Cormac and Harrison that will be key
Id trust Washington to start at the 5. I don't trust Withers at all
this was the biggest pickup for us in the portal. next priority should be getting one of the two bigs as great as it would be to have a power forward in Thiero I think it was far less of a priority than it was to get Tyson the shooter and a big physical post presence. worst case scenario. withers can start at the 4 with maybe Washington spelling some minutes between the 4 and 5 as a backup. I certainly wouldn't turn down a commitment from thiero though, but I don't think he is nearly as much of a priority
Jonas Aidoo has committed to Arkansas. The center position is Omoruyi's for the taking at this point. Let's hope he commits after his OV in Chapel Hill this week.
We need Aidoo or Omoruyi period.
We have two top 10 recruits coming in I don’t see how one of them isn’t in the starting lineup. Especially Ian Jackson, we need scoring & he’s a scorer. Tyson & Drake Powell off the bench if it goes that way wouldn’t be bad for bench production. There’s only 40 minutes so I’m very interested how the minutes get distributed this season
What's going on with RJ not making official return ?
Idc what college he came from, shooting is shooting. Just cuz he came from a small school dont mean he can automaticaly shoot good.
Aidoo to Arkansas
W might not see the best.Of Cadeau.Until Rj leave.
Isaac stop jumping the gun too much he's coming from a small conference just like you wanted to start wojak last year Drake powers of five star player he shouldn't start over him I think you're a little biased
Throwin shade at Schade
He's got good numbers. Will it transfer to ACC level play. Can he guard at ACC level play. Only time will tell. No amount of analysis can solve this. I trust the staff. Period. But, there is a chance he doesn't make the transition.
Go Heels
So your saying theres a chance
Somebody don't know basketball get off of Jalen Withers jockstrap he is very talented lucky he came back after all the backlash he's been getting online
Bias towards older players with productive college seasons is understandable with recent March results. Maybe our freshman will be great and earn starting jobs. That would be wonderful.
I love your show like no other. But I disagree with you on JWASH. I think he would be fine. I think he and Zayden just need strength and for coaches to believe them and play them. The 4 is the unique spot for us because the game has transformed to a perimeter game. 4 has to shoot but must defend perimeter and the low block. I am not sure Thiero is a perfect answer. I think Jwithers has the body but lacks the consistency.
I agree with you
