- Phillip Scott sits down with the mother of Darryl George, Darresha George, to discuss the severe criminalization of her son for wearing locs. The state of Texas passed the Crown Act which went into effect on 9/1/23. Even with this law that passed Barbers Hill School District is not abiding by the law to continue to criminalize her son. Darresha is joined with her attorney Allie Book and Dr. Candice Matthews.

I would have been got my child out of there. Believe you me they are going to try to get something else on him. I smell setup down the road. To accuse him falsely of something. I wouldn’t want to go to school, work or nowhere, where I have to constantly watch my back or steps. The students could even intervene as to speaking out, and walking out of that school, if need be. Another side to this is, if’s not happening to my/your child, we sit back, watch and do nothing.
