Best part about this is that it doesn't suffer the usual 'play good cards to make my bad cards better' that most modern brews do now. It's mostly all bad cards! I love it! Some of my favorite mtggoldfish memories are watching super junky brews beat top tier modern decks. It just seems so unlikely to do anymore with the hyper efficiency of modern

I think the problem in a few games was that u would see the raptor n keep the hand instead of mulliganing to find the enchantment. It will draw u into the raptor but the raptor will just hinder ur ability to play blockers. I think this deck needs to mulligan more aggressively

Definitely need 1x Altar of the brood to fetch off Urza's Saga and all 4 Myr retriever to have a backup wincon with 2 retriever and 2 dino :)

It really seems like all the fun players realized they're paying either way and went to Modern.
It would be more fun if it didn't have to be on MTGO which looks like absolute shit and is miserable to watch as a viewer.
@@Tinil0 Not to mention awful to play on. What other program other than MTGO do you have to regularly restart as MTGO will eat infinite ram as it doesn't unload anything.
I'll never understand people who think Arena is more watchable than MTGO. It's just a hurricane of noise. Is MTGO an old and clunky interface? Oh my yes. But is it the best available option? Unfortunately, also yes.

This is the content I subscribe for. Janky fun. I can watch anyone win with tier 0 tight play, but Seth's joy of making the silliness work is what keeps magic interesting (at least for me)
Isnt impact tremors just better than goblin bombardment for this deck? Also, would scrap trawlers and another discount card (helm of awakening/aetherium sculptor) make the combo more consistent, since you could loop with myr retrievers or just add too many whiffs?

Bombardment can shoot down guys, thats half the point
@@midn8588 sure, but tremors doesn't target so upside vs leyline of sanctity plus tremors still allows for the impulse draw
why not 1-2 copies of Underworld Breach? Adds a little extra security in the middle of the storm part of the deck when you can't cast the things in exile but have a chunky graveyard
My guess is it's hard to cast during the combo turn
I guess you dont get to put lands and other stuff into the grave, ending up not having enough stuff to exile efficiently 3 cards per spell

Goblin bombardment as a backup plan seems strictly worse than impact tremors.
Also, considering the trouble the deck had with Rhinos (and interaction in general), defence grid might be worth a sideboard slot. I understand it makes the combo less consistent, but at least you'll be more likely to assemble to combo.
Hope of Ghirapur could take a 1 cost artifact slot and secures the combo.

When i saw expedited inheritance, i thought, theres potential for a mono red mill deck there, which would be utterly hilarious
it's a may ability which means your opponents can always just decline to exile
This deck just screams for a Purphoros God of the Forge with all those creatures hitting the battlefield
Would a fetch into dryad arbor help with comboing off?
Edit: since comboing off with raptor means your 1mana artifact creatures are free, and the goblin bombardment kill most likely takes a few turns, might as well put in 1 mana artifact creatures such as signal pest, gingerbrute, stonecoil serpent and bomat courier as a rush beat plan seems worthwhile
This deck is a great learning tool for prospective combo players.
you can do this in timeless as well which gets weirder thanks to all the artifacts cast and impact tremors

Just built this in explorer and am having a blast with it.
This reminds me of a historic deck I play with Birgi, run away steam-kin, and one red mana cantrips. Super fun when you go off and a lot of sitting around if you don’t.
I think Hope of Ghirapur is way undervalued in this deck. You don't win in the combat step, so if you stick it either it does it's best Spellskite impression, or it's a Silence that isn't a blank while popping off.
I mean you're playing red, could run red draw
Galvanic Relay + Marauding Raptor = T3 you can drop your hand of 1 cost's to search up to 5 cards that you can play next turn...
Reckless impulse is also helpful since if you can cast reckless, you can cast your combo pieces.

This combo is not that fast, not consistent, not even consistent to find and play, and fragile. It’s about the worst a combo can get, but it’s funny, so it’s worth it
unless im misremembering you can also loop myr retrievers if you get two raptors to storm off

I feel like impact tremors is a substantially better backup than the bombardment. Still does the damage but lets the raptor trigger as well.
Would muddle the mixture be good? All combo pieces cost 2

You can't dilute the deck too much though or you whiff
The backup plan could be a lot cooler with Impact Tremors instead of bombardment. You dont lose the draw from Inheritance that way
I built this awhile ago but i also used charming scoundrel to provide treasure token to cast grapeshot instead of reservoir. Fun side card for consistency is genesis chamber.

For future reference: Blood Moon beats Leyline of the Guildpact, if you play it second and the opponent has no basics. All their nonbasics are just Mountains; however, their basic lands continue to have all basic land types.
This is exactly what he said during the Leyline matchup.
I did something similar on Arena in Explorer. With what I called Unnatural Elves. With Mana dork Elves some other good Elves, 0 cost creatures, Paradox Engine and Aetherflux Resivoir.

There were some early scoops, weren't they? The last game - 2 ornithopters can block the sphinx 2 turns, what if you topdecked inheritance? Or maybe I'm missing something?
I was going to suggest soulless jailer for yard hate, but that fizzles the combo. How about cemetery gatekeeper of heap doll?

Not sure if it would be more or less consistent but the 1 drop creatures that make a treasure could be interesting.
This is unrelated to the video but I built Vampires in Modern and have went 22-10 in games, 13-4 in matches. Only practice though I have beaten tier decks. Gonna test it in a league this weekend.

Question, why are you not running grapeshot? You're basically a storm deck as it is, you say so because of the Aetherflux Reservoir, so why not run 4x Grapeshot?

I think I would cut a Myr Retriever and Research Desk for two copies of Bomat Courier. I also don't hate going down a copy or two of Mystic Forge and looking at Pact of Negation. Pact protects your win-attempt, especially against control decks (here's looking at you Force). Maybe cutting a Myr Retriever, Research Desk, and a Mystic Forge for three copies of Pact?
Overall I think this has been one of your better brews from the set. It actually feels like a non-jank middling tier-2 deck; it's just missing that overbearingly powerful modern horizons card. Actually this deck might be insane in a pre-modern league. Might be worth looking at.

Also I think you could have played slightly safer by making sure you play your springleaf drums prior to your '0' drops. In response to the damage trigger, use the creature that's about to die and float some mana to play around spell pierce and no more lies.
In the game against Living End... Combat Courier really showed it's limitations; Bomat Courier would've given you significantly more 'card draw' in that early game.
dragonspark reactor could be an idea for a backup plan, but youd have to get it out early in the combo process, so its kinda sketchy
I got so excited thinking this would be a good budget brew until I saw the mana base 😭😭 it does feel incorrect to leave out fetches
Hi Seth. NoobTube here. Given that it has already been a day since release of this video, I don't know if you will see this, but I will post it anyways. I recently created a new deck that I am trying out in Timeless MTGA. I think you would really enjoy this deck. It has ponza, but it also uses a Grinning Ingus + Birgi combo as a wincon. I find it really fun to play and it wrecks a good portion of the meta, especially Zoo and strangely (because most lists run 2-4 basics), Titan Field. It struggles against Mono-Black and Burn, but you can pull through against Burn. Decklist below.

why don't you play powder in this deck?
If you arent willing to drop ornithopters or memnites until you have the combo, then why wouldn't you just play 2 drop artifacts or 1 drops that can be effective cards until you hit the combo. unless they exist just to solely power up karnstructs. which could be good but having a whiff card until i hit a key land doesnt seem good over running solid utility creatures imo

Seth can we see you play grixis struggle snuggle wheels in modern sometime when you have the chance with 4 drop mono black $100 sheoldred and nekusar and also cards in it that target any one to draw cards like sign in blood for example and other cards that allow everyone draw cards like a howling mind for example and maybe a few cards like 2 or three that punish your opponents for drawing cards and it's like playing nekusar in commander but instead in modern
just starting the games after the deck tech... this is the first deck i think that will go 0-5... but i need to see how it opperates all 5 games.
In game #1 you could have sacked the puppet and the raptor would still have triggered but instead u gave them the win

Honestly i hate the "timing" ruling of bloodmoon leyline. It should ALWAYS be the same not depending on what gets played when.
Edit: i dont even mind which side of the ruling they land on (always shut down or never) but it should be consistent

Your goblin bombardment backup plan was never even considered during any of the matchups. And I think that's because it's simply not viable, at least not in Modern.
Probably better to just replace those with something that can help you find your combo pieces. Because bombardment is just as likely to fizzle the combo as something that can actually help you otherwise.
