Parents have 18 years to live a perfect example to their kids and then those kids are adults and they need to be allowed to make and live with and learn from their own mistakes. This mother is evil for stealing this money from her daughter and trying to control her daughter at 25. Dave is right in that if it is your money that you are giving to someone else, you might have a right to stipulate that they use the money a certain way but this money is from Grandma so why are her parents keeping the money from her? That’s crazy and illegal. I for one would never take one red cent from someone so evil as to think they can control another person with money. It’s not a gift if there are strings attached. This is why I don’t ever tell my personal business to anyone, especially not family. It is none of their business how I spend my money.

If Grandma takes the money back from an account in the name of the daughter, that is theft, and incredibly illegal. Holding the money is mildly illegal, the only option legally is to give her the money. The daughter basically just needs a lawyer, and they to be giving her the access in s day.

My parents thought I was “unemployed” for the first few years of my self employment while I had several people working for me. But it’s not traditional baby boomer 9-5 and it started organically.
Unless the daughter abusing opiates/benzos I’m on her side and assume she has a plan her parents don’t understand and needs to find her own way with her do things.

25 still at home.. I been on my own since I was a teen. This mom or the parents sound like they are trying to be her friend. This is what happens you give your child everything and they grow up privileged and don’t know hard work. She knows that her parents are always going to be there. But god forbid if her parents weren’t there, she wouldn’t do this.
