hey you guys this was awesome to watch! I'm Bobby big sister Bunny from the group DeBarge! Thanks so much for doing this. the reason they all sound alike is They are all the same person. All the voices are Bobby!
Wow!! Thank you and your talented family for years of great music ❤️
I've had Switch and Debate on repeat for the past year..As a little girl, you couldn't tell me Bobby wasn't going to be my husband lol. Love you all!
Love you and your talented family ❤ This song is one of my all time favourites. 🙌🏾🙌🏾
OMG Bunny your voice is amazing too! Stay With Me & A Dream are my favorites! Such an amazingly talented family.
Still beautiful has you were back then. Will never forget Debarge.🙂
SWITCH- THERE'LL NEVER BE 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Switch: There'll never be
Yes!!!!
Yes!! I love Switch. Part of the the Debarge Family: the older brothers. Next you guys should try their song They’ll Never Be!
I'm about to listen to They'll Never Be right now
@@WSTofKMT 😍
"There'll" Never Be.
Dope song 💯💪🏿
@@fredblak7598 💯 Love that song. Never gets old 😊
I so enjoy you are referencing the Bee Gees as a comparison. It shows how far you have come in your music exploration and education. Keep it Going.
Yeah that was a good observation and comparison.
I know ! Dem beautiful babies!🎵🎤🎶💙🔊
There'll never be by Switch. You will not be disappointed.
Those falsetto voices used to the thing back in the day. Almost all R&B groups had a guy whose voice could get way up there. RIP Bobby Debarge!
"I'm a man now baby, a grown man, and I came a long way......" (But he said it with the voice of a little boy LOL!!!)
Switch has a crazy story one of the last bands to have huge success. The lead singer is Bobby DeBarge his brother Tommy is also in the group, they're apart of the musical family DeBarge. After Switch made it big some of the other DeBarge siblings formed a group DeBarge & had many hits in the 1980's. Some of their music is considered the most sampled in Hip Hop music. Unfortunately Bobby passed away in 95 from HIV-AIDS & not long ago Tommy passed away from kidney failure may they both R.I.P!
I knew I heard that infamous DeBarge voice.
My Mom tried to get me to read their families story but when she told me about all the incest, molestation & rape I lost interest. It's tragic what they went through & still managed to sing so sweetly. 🙏🏽
James Ingram's brother sung in the group as well.
My first slow dance was to this song. I still listen to it to this day. The musicianship and vocals were incredible. The members played multiple instruments. Also, two musical families -- Bobby and Tommy DeBarge and James Ingram's brother -- along with the other incredible musicians. You should listen to I Want to be Closer by them too to truly hear their vocal harmony and instrumentals.
@@deer.1478 I know I didn't mentioned Philip Ingram because I know they're not familiar with James Ingram, but they know DeBarge because they reacted to "I Like It" & I believe another song from them.
Most definitely sad
Great reaction! Their falsetto was just as great and plenty of male singers did this back in the day, not just the Bee Gees. This was well known especially in R&B.
The Bee Gees were a great group, but rest assured they were listening to a lot of R&B from the U.S.
too bad the little brothers didn't know that
Bobby Debarge was known for having one of the best falsetto vocals back in the day.
Still unmatched imo.
Ever!
You guys should react to The Secret Garden by Quincy Jones. Has a bunch of talented people on it such as El Debarge, James Ingram, Al B Sure and Barry White
Yeah.....Secret Garden was a cold piece!!
Somebody recently redid that song..four modern singers. Sounds pretty good too, but I'll take the original. 😉
This song was written to LaToya Jackson, who Bobby DeBarge was crushin' on, at the time this song was written & recorded.
Thank you for reacting to this song! But if you really want to hear some SWITCH classics, check out, "There'll Never Be", and "I Wanna Be Closer!!!" Two serious bangers!!! On these songs, you can really hear what the group can do vocally, and instrumentally!!! They were an awesome band!! In my opinion, Motown's last "Super Group"!!!
Yesssss, totally agree!💜
Absolutely 💯 gives me chills just thinking of those songs 🎵 😍
With so many people who love Switch... not that many people react to their songs, which kills me. I'm so glad y'all played this. Check out their video There'll Never Be... That way you can see the group and who is singing.
"There'll" Never Be.
I've begged reaction to these two songs to so many reactors for so long! I nearly gave up hope. This is only the 3rd I've seen a Switch reaction!
What a group! The 70's cranked out some excellent groups.
A little trivia: The late great James Ingram's brother was also a member of Switch
Yup Phillip
Love James Ingram too!
Fun fact: Jermaine Jackson brought us Switch! This is when music meant something. 🔥🔥🔥🔥💕👌🏾
The vulnerability captured in this song is unbelievable. This is art!!! 🧡🧡 Beautiful! Though this didn't come out in the 80's, 1979 was good enough! 😁😁This is timeless, powerful, soulful, loving, and great music! Two more songs to consider by them, "There'll Never Be" & "Wanna Be Closer"!
Haha you beat me to the punch I was just about to mention that Jermaine Jackson discovered the group lol
I wondered if jacksons and debarge could be related.el sounds acts lije mj.
Yes...That was when Jermain left the Jackson Five(in 1975) to stay with Motown when he married Barry Gordy's daughter Hazel in 1973. He worked on his solo career and helped other artists/groups until rejoining his brothers in 1983. Good call!
Sis 💛😁, I was going to fall out when I heard this song 🎵 🎶! If I could just hear some "Feel Me" by the old Cameo, that's when memories flood back 🥲💫💯.
@@bertramattles1695 😁😁
Now that's some pure unadulterated 1980's old school slow dance music right there....
🥰🥰🥰👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Actually, it's pure unadulterated 70s music! Around 1978 to be exact!😉
I was there and yes I'm dating myself..but proud of it, able to enjoy it fresh out the oven and piping hot!!🔥🔥🤣🤣
Bobby Debarge was so talented!! Its a shame he's so underrated. May he continue to rest on in peace
Bobby Debarge is the lead singer and the ultimate falsetto singer! His brother Tommy is also in the group. They were members of the Debarge family who had a separate group including that you listened to El DeBarge. They are amazing singers and endured nightmare childhoods due to the abuse from their father.
These young bucks always bring a smile to my face😁 it takes me back when I would be introduced to music by OG's. New worlds were in focus and game was discovered. I learned to speak to girls from the heart to through music... even though some didn't love me back💔, I never regretted the feeling.
FYI... the finest girl in middle school, Tracy Ramirez asked me to the "Saddie Hawkins" dance (I still don't know who Saddie was🤔).
All I remember is when this song came on, we were the first on the dance floor. Everyone was looking at us. I was dizzy from her perfume. When she put her arms around my neck, I shook. I regained my composure and fell deep in love. The best time of my life lasted for about 15months and then she moved... 😳
I was crushed 😭😭😭 but this song awakens everything I felt then. She was beautiful, smart and she chose me, damn! Some dreams don't last forever. But the memories do.
Keep growing y'all. Challenge yourself to do more and be better. Y'all blessed! 🙏🏾
Wow Saddie Hawkins dances. I think they don't know nothing about that.
@@barryblanton2065 Absolutely nothing... Frankly, after being on this planet for half of a century, I still don't know a damn thing about "Saddie Hawkins." Except, for the fact it was a gateway to (puppy) love and my introduction to Switch.
This is hilarious!!! I think Sadie Hawkins is the name of the person who made it cool for girls to ask guys to the “sock hop”….🥰🤣🤣
@@nyiaharris1072 🤯😳 I had no idea... 😂🤪😂
That my man was so profound..I am about your age from what you said. I grew up on music like this and my first introduction to the dance floor and dancing with a beautiful young sister. I can remember walking over and asking her for a dance in Basic Training. I remember her taking a glance up and down and saying “yes”….I remembered the song until this day. It was the first time I hear it…..Con Funk Sun….and the song was Love Train. So yes….there are songs that takes you to place where you can momentarily relive that moment in your mind over and over. I don’t remember that young lady’s face because too many faces walked by in my life. But I will always remember that moment where she was a star in my eyes that night.
My Mama used to yell at me to shut up when I would be singing this during my shower concerts. Check out There'll Never Be by Switch. Oh and this was sampled on Throw Some D's On It by Rich Boy.
I came here to mention that sample. The benefit of growing up between two eras of music. Lol.
Throw them D's on it is the shit. When the first part came on, I was waiting on "wait a minute mu$^f@$%@.
I love that they were called Switch because they would switch instruments with each other in the middle of their songs
I’m 61. Can’t believe there are people out there so young listening to them for the first time. Blessings to you. 🙏
Man, oh man, this is legitimately one of my all-time favorite songs. Lots of info about them in the comments already, so I'm not going to add to that, but I WILL recommend a couple of their songs: "I Wanna Be Closer," "Love Over and Over Again," and especially, "There'll Never Be."
Same for me, one of my all time favourites! Don't be forgetting 'Keeping Secrets' now!
Yeeees, "There'll Never Be"!! Luuv that song too!
And “Calling all girls”
Great song guys. The DeBarge brothers could always sing excellent falsetto!
Please consider reacting to Marvin Gaye “I Want You”. It is such a classic Marvin love song!!!
Yeah, one of my favorite Marvin Gaye songs!
Distant Lover also.
All right guys you two for two tonight. Switch was on fire🔥 back in the day. Bobby and Tommy DeBarge are in this group, you've already reacted to DeBarge which included El and the rest of the family. Such beautiful music to come out of such a dysfunctional family plagued by an abusive father. You should check out their Unsung episode.
This song will forever be a hit!
Switch..."I Wanna Be Closer"... all the voices ain't the same...Phillip Ingram, a great singer in his own right, sharing lead vocals with Bobby Debarge..
One of my favorite song people sleep on this song😊
All the Members of THIS Band SANG, n PLAYED 1 or MORE Instrements !!! I'm So Glad u Listened 2 Switch !!
That was just one guy, Bobby Debarge. They would double his voice. They had another singer, Phillip Ingram and he also had a great voice. Switch was a great group whose members would switch instruments after each song. Earning them the name, Switch.
El sang background on this 😍
@@cavitta934 true. This song was El's debut to the music business with Bobby. A recent interview is also on CZcams from this past February on WCBS confirms this.
@@cavitta934 EL did not sing background on this! the reward belongs to Bobby all by himself!
@@bunnydebargeofficial your family is crazy talented. Bobby's voice is still unmatched imo. ❤️❤️❤️❤️.
Phillip Ingram is James Ingrams' brother.
React to Switch "There'll never be"
Word has it that Bobby wrote this for Latoya Jackson. Great reaction, fellas!
Gotta add that Latoya is Michael and Janet's sister. Otherwise, they'll be like "LaWho?" 🤣
I thought it was ‘U and I.’
@@MaryLou913it was that too
It’s called singing in falsetto
This is my mom’s all-time favorite song 🎧. I remember the album 💿 cover as a child, 👧🏽 and thought they were handsome. Bobby, had a tough childhood: RIP.
OMG, I love DeBarge!! Their music makes you want to put another log in that firepit on a deck of a beach house, have your fav drink & a nice chaise lounge big enough for you & your honey, while welcoming a gorgeous sunset!!! Love your reaction Tim & Fred!!! 😎👍🏼☮️♥️🔥🌅🍹🍷🍸
This isn't DeBarge; this is Switch. Bobby and Tommy DeBarge were two of the group's members, with Bobby singing lead. El sounds a lot like him, doesn't he? 😊
@@DanielleGillmoreJohnson Thanks for the update, he really does sound like El!!! 👍🏼
@@carolr.4863
You're very welcome! Enjoy the rest of your day! 🙂
@@DanielleGillmoreJohnson Thanks, you too!! 😊👍🏼
I could put a card table chair in the middle of farmland under a oak tree 🌳 watching the horses run & all the stars 🌟 out with my cassette player 🎶 and chill 😌
Classic song. Its been sampled in hip hop songs. Before the group Debarge started...there was big brothers Bobby and Tommy in Switch. RIP Bobby and Tommy
That's El at age 18 singing the hook & background! Bobby flew him to LA & he didn't know he wanted him to do that until he got there. El confirmed it himself. He always speaks so highly of Bobby & his voice. Both their voices are Amazing! ❤
Your completely incorrect! That was all Bobby & Phil Switch was an all inclusive band, they did not need El. The other voice you hear Is Mr. Philip Ingram. Smh
No el DeBarge on this. El wasn’t even in la at this time.
That's not El, it's his older brother Bobby who El got his whole voice, style, and swag from...do your homework love..
El didn’t even want to sing like Bobby, El wanted his own style. Execs explained to El that’s one of the things that made him special because he could sing like his brother
Switch was so smoooooth! You should check out their biggest hit "There'll Never Be", and their other great ballads "Love You Over And Over Again" and "I Wanna Be Closer". They mastered the slow jams!
Bobby's falsetto is perfection!
Love this song. That’s the great Bobby DeBarge (RIP) singing the falsetto (high notes).. He was the oldest brother of a family of singers and musicians. React to DeBarge, EL DeBarge and Chico DeBarge.💕
This song was the first gift I got from a guy. I love this song. I could tell it had you hooked because you didn't interrupt except for the very beginning. A great reaction to a forever favorite.💖🔥
Awwwwwww......
Played this every morning 10th grade Northeastern High School Detroit all day 🥰🥰🥰
Bobby DeBarge, & Philip Ingram were the best harmonized duo of the time. Switch is the most underrated band ever.🔥
Tommy DeBarge just died a few months ago and Philip Ingram has a CZcams channel
@@deesee3622 your point is?
Switch was the shit young bloods . ♥️ I'm Glade y'all younger people recognize and appreciate your parents music .
So glad y’all reacted to this song, this was that good feel good music from back in the day!
Oh now you GOTA cover “There’ll Never Be” by Switch🙏🏽😩🔥
Its 3:30 AM I woke up and saw this. Going through a stressful time. I needed this. One of the greatest songs EVER!
man that was a jam back in the day... those guys can sing!
"I do, you do, birds and bees do, too. . ."
Hearing this takes me back to Grammer school. The soundtrack to my life🥰
One of my favorite songs when I was in high school. The girls loved that song, so I always had it playing when I had company. 😘
Yes!!! Switch!!!! Love them! Those slow jams. Just love them.
Switch! Yes, great song. Also listen to There'll Never Be by Switch!! AND please listen to Butterflies by the 1 and only MJ #MJ4LIFE
DeBarge, Switch and all the groups of that era will never grow old!! Like someone said, such madness growing up it’s amazing they can still show tenderness through their song and through their voices.
Yes such a traumatic story. I grew up on Debarge and swore this was El Debarge. I only found out about Switch from the Debarge Unsung episode, but fell in love with the group in their own Unsung episode. Debarge, Switch, and the Sylvester are my favorite Unsung episodes.
Switch began in the late seventies! This is as one of the their biggest hits! The lead singer on this song was Bobby Debarge, he is an older big brother of the Debarge group members! He and his brother, Tommy Debarge was in Switch along with James Ingram’s brother, Phillip Ingram! This song was rumored to be about Latoya Jackson (Michael’s sister), Janet Jackson married their brother, James Debarge (of the group Debarge) when she very young, the marriage was short lived! Check out the Switch hits, They’ll Never Be and I Wanna Be Closer!❤️❤️
I was a sophomore in highschool when this came out.... Still sound good 🔥💯
I LOVE when you guys genuinely vibe with a song. I like to believe I can tell the difference 😂 lol..... " Dread twin singing" " fro twin stank facing and dancing" "dread twin will add to his playlist " " fro twin will do a follow up reaction even if it is a solo reaction " As someone who is not really fanatic about anything..... I'm a fan keep it up guys.
By the way check out She's Gone Hall and Oats version with video 🤣🤣🤦🏾♀️ a vibe and a mood
Saw them in concert at the Oakland coliseum here in Calif. The vocals the best I've ever heard. Listen to some of their other music and they will blow you away when they hit those notes. Best vocals I've ever heard ! My favorite music.
Tommy and Bobby are both related to The DeBarges. May they rest in heaven. Switch also has another pretty awesome song call There will never be. Just as cool and smooth as I call your name. Check it out when you get chance.
The lyrics 1st and then ALL of the rest. One of my favorites.
Peabo Bryson “Can You Stop The Rain” and “Let The Feeling Flow”
Roberta Flack and Peabo Bryson “ Tonight I Celebrate My Love”
I still get chills on the intro......💯
Good choice I Love Switch!! So many memories come to mind.
These groups these are slow Jams old school music is pure classic they will always be here, it’s good that you both get to experience learning and hearing these old songs and groups Can you react to Blue Magic “What’s Come Over Me “ and “Spell” and The Whispers “Chocolate Girl “and Whispers “Say Yes “
FYI - Barry Gibb (Bee Gees) didn't always sing falsetto; they were well into their career before he started singing in his high voice. Bobby DeBarge (Switch) always sang in that beautiful high voice. I listen to Switch's Greatest Hits all the time; it's very good. You brothers seem to appreciate music; love that! Peace.
Had that cd.i only use mp3 files now.most of my cds to scatchy so is my vinyl most of it was used.as long as i got the music.
Barry Gibb will tell you today that Black singers are the best .He and his brother Robin always gave credit to the Black Greats. On an interview a reporter asked them how did they feel about sounding "black" Robin responded " We are black" ....that reporter could have dropped his mic because his face sure did.
That wasn’t all of the band members singing. That was one man, the lead singer Bobby Debarge. He’s the older brother to The Debarge siblings. El Debarge is the most well known & most successful sibling.
That was Bobby’s voice being stacked in the studio to make the song & backround vocals sound much fuller. The rest of the band don’t sound like him.
Now y’all gotta do a reaction to their song “They’ll Never Be & I Wanna Be Closer”. Then listen to Bobby & Tommy’s younger siblings, Debarge,
music. They had many hit records in the 80’s. Rhythm Of The Night, I Like It, Time Will Reveal, Love Me In A Special Way, A Dream (song Tupac sampled for “I Aint’t Mad At Cha”), Stay W/ Me, All This Love, etc.
TRUST, YOU WON’T BE DISAPPOINTED!
Debarge is R&B music Royalty. Bobby and Tommy were members of Switch as well as
R&B singer James Ingram’s brother. Bobby and Tommy were the group Debarge older brothers.
I had older sisters that listened to Switch during the 70s & 80s. This brought back alot of child hood memories especially of family reunions and cook outs. He had alot of talent and his voice was beyond phenomenal!!
This song is a classic .Straight 🔥
Absolutely love your reactions. Awesome guys.
Bobby DeBarge had a killer falsetto. His brother El has one, too.
That classic growing up in the P.A.W. sound...you can hear it in many of the great singers back then. There’s a certain nuance to the way they sing!
This the sample to Rich Boy "throw some Ds"
Just said this a few second ago lol
Never heard of Rich Boy or his song. 😊
There’ll Never Be
Love Over and Over Again
Switch
Bobby Debarge❤ The music of Switch lives on forever. Phenomenal band. Group member Phillip Ingram has the back story on the group.
Like someone else said, your two for two tonight! I have not heard this one in like forever! Awesome reaction, the Bee Gees reference was spot on! 😎
My sister and I crushed on the whole band back in the day! We were in love lol!
Love the respect from the youngins on the ol jam this song 🔥
Wow Twins! I’m super impressed. This a true throwback classic🔥.
I so LOVE the reactions when y'all are FEELING IT!! 😁 😁 This slow jam is the BOMB! I was a tiny tot when this came out...about 3 years old. Of course my parents played it so much that growing up I started listening to it. This is DEFINITELY one of my favs!!!💖💖
The good thing about “groups” back in those days is they created their own music and played their own instruments. So they were actually“bands” instead of groups.
They're not all singing. Switch is not a vocal group like The Temptations, some of them are playing instruments. Switch does have more than 1 lead singer though, but they don't all sound alike.
Every member of Switch sang and played multiple instruments hence they switched during performance to show their diversity. Bobby was the lead singer however they all sang 😉 I was in Jr High when they came out in the mid 70's🥰 and have been a fan ever since 🤗
The Temptations....they have their own incredible catalogue of music 🎶 that I adore as well.
Aloha 🤙🏾
Switch was a nice group. Two of the members are brothers of DeBarge. The lead singer is Bobby who passed away from AIDS in 1995. The DeBarge family has a very rough family history. When you fellas find time, you should definitely look into it.
The DeBarge family had the most watched episode of "Unsung" at one point. That's what you need to watch.
Sweetheart that was Bobby singing lead and backgrounds. Pure talent.
And El.
Lawd I was a young Airman in the US Air Force at Clark AFB in the Philippines when this song and album came out. We all ran to the base exchange to buy it. I can see us all slow dancing at the Coconut Grove Airmans Club on Clark AFB. It was epic. Friday night R & B night....us all dressed up for da club. Still brings fond memories and always will....where are you DW...still love you....call me...need you to put that hand out and say "you wanna dance...I been watching you all night...." It was smooth then and would still work on me call me DW ....sorry we lost touch...Youngins taking me back!
One of the greatest songs ever recorded!
They were called Switch because they could all switch up and sing lead and different instruments. I use to call the radio station every night to request this song. It's one of my favorites. FYI: Not everyone in the group was a falsetto. I suggest you listen to I Wanna Be Closer , There'll Never Be and Best Beat in Town to see how they switch it up.
Bobby had a rough childhood and I’m glad he blessed us with beautiful, timeless songs. RIP❤
These two are old souls, I love it y'all got great taste in music !
Can you do "Secret Garden" by fourplay. El Debarge is on that song.
Love you two young men! Especially when you enjoy music I like and grew up with.
Besides Bobby and Tommy DeBarge in Switch one of the founding members of the group is Philip Ingram who is the younger brother of James Ingram who was a great R&B solo artist.
The thing that’s special about Switch too is that they all played instruments. In fact I think they each all played well enough to step in for each other. If you get a chance the Behind the Music segment about them is really pretty interesting. It gives a good insight on the music industry at that time. Late 70s and early 80s. Thanks for another great video guys!
We loved the beginning of this song too..😆 This was our jam back in the day. It is still a jam today. Listen to more of Switch hits as well as DeBarge. Thanks guys!!!
Man, this song brought back memories of living in Germany when I was in high school. This was the song that new couples danced to at the DYA ( the teen center for young people who had a parent in military service). So many great memories ❤️❤️❤️
@@phydellisedmonds3819 we lived in Baumholder from 77-80. Loved Germany! The people, the food...the snow was a bit much but it was still pretty awesome there ❤️❤️❤️
Catch the actual video guys to see who's singing and playing the instruments. So glad that you're enjoying Swich. Before Silk Sonic, there was Switch, etc.
Thanks fellas. I forgot to mention check out the BET or is it TV One Unsung Episodes on Switch and/or DeBarge!
I love Switch! We had GOOD music ‘back in the day!’ 💜
This literally my fav song
On their Unsung episode, it was explained that the group name was called Switch is because they could switch playing instruments while performing. Meaning they could play multiple instruments
That was only one voice. That was Bobby Debarge on lead and background vocals and his younger brother el debarge from the group debarge did some background vocals too. Bobby is the oldest brother of the sister and brother group called Debarge. Bobby was lead singer for the group switch which came out first. He was the mentor to El Debarge and the rest of the brothers and sister that was in the group Debarge which came after Bobby and the group switch came out. Bobby’s group was called switch because of every members ability to play multiple different instruments, each member played at lest 3 or 4 instruments each and in concert they were know to all switch instruments on different songs like whoever was on drums on one song would end up playing guitar or keyboard or sax or whoever was on saxophone would end up playing drums or percussion or guitar on the next song or whoever was on trumpet or something would play the bass or piano on the next song all live at their shoes which is were the name switch came from because they literally would switch instruments from one song to the next
Yes
