    I've always been a big fan of the Flyaway and at one point thought seriously about doing a video on it. It is the best way to get back and forth to LAX, and I think you did an excellent job explaining it. Great video.

    I've never taken the Flyaway from LAX but have gone from Van Nuys to LAX several times. It's a great alternative from enduring the traffic of the 405. Great naps while not worrying about traffic. Just give yourself a lot of time and tip the driver because he does help unload your luggage. 😁

    LA resident here, great video! One thing that could be good to mention (unless I somehow missed it), if you ever edited or redid this video, is that there are public transit links (such as the Red, Purple, and Gold Metro lines) at Union Station, which international travelers might not know.

      Thanks! I'll add it to another guide in the future. I've lived in LA until 2018, and I mostly used the red line...and it's an "experience," to put it lightly. I stopped using it after I sat in a "wet" seat. Cloth seats were a poor choice.

    You should point out that it's perfectly possible to get from LAX to almost anywhere in the city by public transit, though it will take time and a couple of transfers. It's cheaper than the FlyAway, though, and there's no tipping.

      Venice beach is really close to LAX. You should take an Uber. There's a trick where you can take a parking lot shuttle outside of the LAX area and catch an Uber there (it's not illegal, but the parking lot companies don't llike that).
      If you catch an Uber outside of LAX, the price is less than 50% from LAX

    • @FullValueDan
      @FullValueDan  Před 4 lety

      Most of Union Station is closed by 10pm and the area surrounding it isn't that great. But, the FlyAway area is safe, clean and well lit. I would suggest using Uber/Lyft to pick you up from Union Station. The "carpool" options on those apps have pretty good rates.

    Couple of quick questions..
    1) does the bus stop at any stations between van nuys and lax? Or is it straight there and back.
    2) does the bus travel in a separate bus lane to all other traffic? Or do you get stuck in traffic with all the cars.
    I am frequently coming and going on flights into and out of lax and I hate paying for Uber/Lyft! They’re so expensive now! First time trying to Flyaway for a trip this weekend.

      @@onthemoonkicks Hi there! Experience is great. Since posting I’ve flown quite a bit and always use the LAX flyaway now! It’s super easy and fast! It does stop at each terminal tho, so if your departing terminal 7 (United) it can be a bit of a drag while everyone else gets off before you. But it’s not so bad.
      1) no stops in between. Straight from union station to lax no stops in between.
      2) yes it travels in the fast lane. Flys be all other traffic.
      It’s great!

    the reason you must tip service workers in america is because some companies use loopholes to pay their employees very low wages (for example- tipped employees in kentucky have around $2.85 min wage) so they become dependent on the customers to pay for their service. so when you go to a restaurant, you’re paying solely for the meal, & what you give as a tip is you paying for the service. it’s one of the many messed up flaws in American capitalism

    • @FullValueDan
      @FullValueDan  Před 4 lety +1

      Thanks for the input. I wasn't aware of the loopholes outside of California. As for California, the minimum wage is $12/hr, still not a livable income compared to rent prices in LA. I just want to inform people a little about tipping culture in America since there are many international travelers that may not be aware.

    • @hughofIreland
      @hughofIreland Před 7 měsíci

      There isn’t a loophole, there is a legal exemption for some types of workers: restaurant and bar staff. The law includes jobs where people are tipped about $30 a month. California (and six or seven other states) requires all employees to receive the federal minimum wage. Employees of bus companies aren’t exempted from minimum wage laws and are paid a competitive salary. It may not be a lot of money, but it’s what the market demands to keep workers on the job.

  • @pac719

      Habit since I take the bus normally. LA buses don't stop unless they need to. I forgot if the LAX FlyAway stops everywhere. I know if the bus fills up before getting to the last terminal, they'll just keep driving.
