- Can Bettas be in a community tank? Yes, they can! Part 3 of the Betta Comunity Series where I introduce a giant male betta into a tank with tetras. It is important to observe the behavior of your betta so you can decide if the environment is safe for him.

I love how is eye color makes him look angry, lol 😆
I have a huge female whose eyes are a metallic blue.
She's absolutely beautiful and also the largest Betta I have ever seen.
Great looking tank, your betta is definitely the centerpiece fish. I like all the activity... good choice of fish to put him with. 😃👍🍄
Thank you!
There is nothing more lovely than a planted community tank with a stunning betta!! He is absolutely beautiful!!
The care and time you took acclimating him and getting him use to his tank mates was perfect for helping him adjust to his new home with his future friends!!
I agree with all your suggestions and experience with keeping these fish!! Always keeping in mind to have a backup plan!!
Thank you so much for the video and helping us be successful with our own bettas!!
A beautiful video from our beautiful friend!!
Thank you for sharing!! I hope you have a blessed weekend!!🙏🌿🐟🌿❤️

I got betta recently and put it straight into my 75gallon community tank. He is so happy with so much room to swim. None of my fish bother him, and he just all over the tank
5:53 I love how one of the little endlers (I think that's the species?) just pecked at the betta and was completely ignored haha
He’s certainly a handsome fellow…. We agree about the light …. we use a lot of night lights and under gravel lights for our betta and they seem to like it much more than overhead lights….🌱🌱😀😀
Always amazing to me how individual each Betta can be, I had a teal colored half moon, what a sweetheart, was afraid of his own shadow lol... now I have a mustard gas half moon, still quite the sweetheart but definitely has a bit of a territory. The teal half moon would swim to the other side if an endler got too close it was cute.
I love your tank. Recently got a new betta, and noticed how calm he was. Figured I'd at least try to put him in my 29gal with my endlers, and it's been over 24 hours so far with no issues! I love your video, as mine is also a koi plaket style... most people will say they have to be long finned to be put in a community, but I just don't think that's the case whatsoever. It's all about the temperament of the individual. Hope things continue to go as smoothly for you! What a wonderful setup with great knowledge applied:)
Gorgeous betta, and he looks so good in the tank. I also recently added a betta to a new tank (30g), with 2 schools of corydoras, so this gave me some good ideas about how to evaluate his behaviour there.
I'm so glad I can help with that ^_^
A beautiful tank and wonderful video !
Thanks,
Jim
I just got into Cochu’s blue tetras as well. I love them! They are very active and boisterous, and they do chase each other, but i never see nipped fins or stressed fish. Their colors are gorgeous! When they are happy or after I give them live food, they show a little bit of green and pinkish tones along with that beautiful blue. Such a great addition to my community tank!
I just got a half moon male yesterday I have found they are very calm, and mellow.we love ours
Good quality video! Not sure if this is mentioned somewhere but can you post the tank dimensions and stocking list of this tank as it looks very nice.
I keep a big school of neon tetras and a male Betta. They've been living together for 3 years. Never had any iaaues
So cool... 😎. I have a platinum white Betta and I love how beautifully flowing his fins are I thought he would be a great addition to my tetra tank but I decided against this plan because he is too precious to get damaged by any chance. So I have him in his own aquarium with plenty of plants and he seems to be happy being by himself
Hello! Thanks for having me back. Lol. Great clip!
Welcome back!
My girl looks exakt like your betta, add a few blue sparkle scales on the back and tail to it. She is the sweetest betta too, tame and kind swimming with scalars, gouramis and ternezias. No one is harassing each other. Best friend of hers is a young molly, they sleep on leaves together :)
Tank looks lovely
that beta is beautiful. grats, nice work
I have a very non agressive betta and he live peacefully with 2 angelfish and 3 guppies. Every night, I observe all of them, take notes, note the amount of agression, the no. of pellets they ate, the poop colour, any diseases or finrot, rest and quality of life. btw they have been there for only 4 days.
Is there a way to tell if the beta isn’t aggressive before you buy it? I don’t want to buy one and find out I can’t put it in my tank
@@sageskylar5992 I think you don't really know until you put them in... since they are kept by themselves until they are sold
That betta looks absolutely awesome
Thanks! I think so too!
Wow you really take care of your betta I have one but not as active
i am learning so much from these videos!
He is soooooo cute. His face…❤️❤️❤️
Ive never dare to try this 😅 bettas are so pretty but never had them cuz theyre agressive, thanks for the video
What a great looking fish! You have chosen compatible fish in this community and heavily planted it. Can't see you having any issues at all.
Issues can always pop up but I'm trying my very best ^_^
I have just added another Betta to my sorority. It was a massive risk as the 4 I have in there are from the same spawn and have been together since birth and over the last 6 months.
After a long introduction, so far so good. I have a back up plan in case it doesn't work out, but if we don't take risks (and this is a rule for life as well) we will never learn anything new.
I just set up a Betta Community Tank with if you don't mind, a male Nemo Tiger but not giant as well Betta Halfmoon as the centerpiece, 7 Neon Tetras, 3 Sterbai Corydoras, and 3 Otocinclus. All looking good so far after 5 days!
Your betta has beautiful eyes lol
Same here, my wild Betta doesn't bother his tank mates (neon tetras) 😊
Its a heavily planted tank with lots of hiding places ❤
Betta fish can do fine in community tanks as long as you have lots of plants and floating plants with extensive root systems like water hyacinths. Maintain a ratio of 2.5 females to 1 male betta. Can go as low as 1.5 females per 1 male if you have lots of other community fish. Tank size should be 75G or larger.
He’s such a handsome guy!
Edit: I truly admire how much care you put into taking care of bettas. I feel inspired to be good to my Wanda (3 dollar petsmart female veiltail). She is a feisty queen, not a throw away bowl fish. ❤️
Petsmart and petco fish are just as awesome!
Betta's in the Petcos and PetSmart's where I live are about 15 to 25 dollars.
@@jeffalbillar7625 really? Even the veiltail females?
@@christinecho779 they have different prices for the different types.
The lowest price that I remember seeing in either store was around 9 dollar's.
The plakat koi male's are the most expensive.
@@jeffalbillar7625 yeah, the cheapest are the female veiltail here in northern Illinois. 3 bucks, gorgeous little fish
Gorgeous tank, I love the setup. Just splendid. How large is it?
Wow very beauty ❤️❤️
What temperature do you have the water set at for them to coexist?
You are amazing, I just love your videos, I do wish there was no background music, it's really very distracting.
I keep 5 bettas (2m 3f) in fluval flex 32g. Also a bunch of Endler dithers.Make sure its heavily planted . no problem.
I would block you're other tank from Betta's view as he already has a lot going on in his community space. Nice tank glad to see him free from breeder box and swimming free.
She did.
I'm going to block off the cichlid tank as well
What type of lights you're using in this tank?
i still cant differentiate, is this a giant betta? or standard ones..
What light do you use? Thanks for the video.
What a stunning beta fish 🤩
I'm setting up a 20 gallon community tank for my female betta. I observed that she can can't be part of a sorority because she does becomes very aggressive towards the other female bettas. But them I tried blue endler gruppies, and she paid no attention to them unless they get in her personal space.
He's a lovely boy. He seems quite placid. 😊
Is a fluval U3 filter too powerful for a Betta? I'd like to have one at some point. 😊
Such a beautiful community tank and Koi Betta! Can you please tell me the size of tank in this video? Sizes of tanks on video are so misleading for me. I saw someone else show his aquascape on video in what looked like a 40 gallon breeding tank. It was really only 60 liters 😂
This tank is a 20 gallon tall and I don't use any CO2. I keep medium to low light plants that are easy to keep and use the Finnex planted+ light as well as aquarium coop easy green fertilizer.
Hope that helps! ^_^
I dont see agression, but i see a lot of stress. especially in the timelaps u can see him searching for a quite spot alot. like already said: tetras will start picking at some point aswell. bettas need time to rest at the nighttime and thats just im possible with "so much" happening around permanantly. i would seperate again. u can go with some snails or neocaridina instead as u have a chill dude there.
HELP. I have similar setup 10gal med planted. 3 mollies (m,f,f) and 1 male orchid betta.
All my parameters are good. Tank is cycled. All fish are peacefull well feed. Betta flairs very min. No aggression shown. 2 months later I noticed that only when I turn the lights on the betta goes to attach any fish he sees.
Might swap mollies for tetras.
question im geting a 20 long gallon tank for my betta and community could i add two females betta or one betta to a community thank
Is it necessary or do you use CO2 in your planted tanks?
where do you get your plants or what kind are they??
Ya it works, not with neons may female will i hope, I have tried many times. but it's a nice video though 😉
I have 1 that actually look like him. Actually they are two but the other one is identical to his looks
Great tank. What fish and plants do you have?
I have blue tetras and cardinal tetras as well as a few endlers and spotted blue-eye. The plants I don't remember all the names of but I have guppy grass, jungle val, , and anubis.
Where do you find the floating plants?
My Betta died a few days ago and ahhh this Betta is precious 😢....
His eyes are so pretty.
My blue tetra are only interesting in chasing each other too.
Just a matter of time, tetras will nip.
Both my betta are angry serial killers…I just got irritable fish 😂
hey so i just got some tetras and kept them in the bag i got them and left it in the tank with my betta and i released them and my betta is sort of nipping at the fins not to much but he does do it a bit i was wondering if it’s just because he’s not used to them or if i should probably separate them i hadn’t seen the video of yours of keeping them separate until after so i was wondering what i should do pls anyone reach back !!
take the betta out and leave it in a breeder box for a little while or change up the tank so then the beta doesn’t feel like the other fish are taking over his own tank!
All these apply to a community tank that has a lot of baby and adult shrimps?
Shrimp and bettas are a tricky combo to pull off because technically shrimp are food to bettas most of the time. You have to get lucky and find a really mellow betta that just like to watch them but is too lazy to hunt them. You can definetly try this method but be extra careful with shrimp.
💙💙
Where do you buy you aquarium plants from?
I get some from flipaquatics.com as well as my local GCCA dish swaps
will this betta grow larger fins?
Betta nad pearl gourami? Any insight?
How big is he? Just the body for size reference
🥰🥰
I got a question i want to make a community tank with betta and a air pump fpr the other fish but my betta seems stressed if i turn on my air pump can you help please?
How many gallons is this fish tank? I have a 20 gallon with live plants, 4 mollies, 2 African dwarf frogs and 1 lil gourami. Would this be ok?
🧡💜💞
What is the size of your tank? Is that a 10g?
This is a 20 gallon tall tank
Is a 5 gal tank ok for a regular male half moon plakat ?
In my opinion, yes.
Sure! It's better for a halfmoon because their fins never stop growing so living in a big tank becomes exhausting over time. Be careful to make sure the flow from the filter is not too strong!
HE BETTA NOT EAT THOSE FISH:)..lol
Lol
If you had noticed him patrolling the perimeter without taking any breaks what would your next move had been?
I would start checking for reflections in the glass because bettas that pace back and forth a lot often do so because they see their reflection so they are chasing the other betta that they see.
@@CreativePetKeeping I have the sides and back painted. Yet he still acts like that's what is going on.
The only time he really stops is if I put the floating mirror in there. Then it's non-stop with his reflection in the mirror.
Name him "Roma" like the soccer team AS Roma who wear their colors, its also just the Italian name for the City Rome.
He is huge.. I can't believe how big they have made Betta's.. another 20 years they could be like giant Gourami's
That would be crazy cool
I have a female Betta that's ridiculously big.
She's the biggest Betta I have ever seen.
I call her Large Marge
Whats the floating type plant you have in this tank? 🙈 TIA
Betta 1st in the tank for a day or two. A week is best, then put the schooling crew.
He is soooo darn cute! I'm interested to find out if he is having any issues with the other fish out competing him for food?
Thanks so much for the great video! I look forward to your videos so much. ❤
🌱🐟🌱🐟🌱🐟🌱🐟🌱
Thats going to be the next thing I focus on ^_^
Thanks for this.
My betta was fine with other fish if the lights are on, if the lights are off, my betta turns into a murderer
Same. 2 of my other fish are missing. I own a female betta.
Ur betta looks like be has angry eyebrows lol
Im looking to house a betta wth 6-8 tetras and 4 panda cory add a few snails and shrimp in for clean up in a 10 gal long , its overwhelming to see so many fish and hence my question how many fish do you have in there and what is the size of the tank also if you can share your stocking info as well . Thanks
PS : i came to your video and got a really good idea how to check if my betta would be compatible in the tank and is it really a good idea to stock other fish first and the betta last ?
How big was that tank?
20 gallons
How many gallons is your tank?
What are those baby fish?
Highly doubt it will
How did you choose this fish?
I am currently upgrading my 30l to 60l and i have a very peacful group male-only endler guppies in it. I really want to put in a betta once i am finished with the new tank but i am really scared....
Just give him a week. Once established himself, he will start his territorial behavior
I had blue tetras kill a betta
Madame how gallon aquarıum
20 gallons :D
Why even try to introduce him to a community tank at all? I don't see a single positive benefit for the betta. Sure, he might not attack them but I highly doubt that it's less stressful than being in a solo tank. Shouldn't we aim for what's best and not for what semi works?
Imo, domestic betta splendens do best in a filterless, no artificial light, externally heated, solitary setup with live food and live plants..but thats hard to pull of for an average fishkeepers.
Even in a single tank a filter can cause stress, a heater can cause stress, a light can cause stress, reflections in the glass can cause stress, boredom can cause stress, improperly cycled tank can cause stress...ect ect.
I know there will always be people who try betta community setups so might as well explore how this can be done in what I assume is the best way possible.
Can you please advise the size of this tank? I don't believe you mentioned this. Thank you. @creativepetkeeping
