Do your Watercolor paintings lack depth and richness? Try the traditonal approach of painting in watercolor by starting with light washes, through middle values and ending with the darks for the finishing touches. The big advantage to this method is that the artist can see the painting taking shape while still having lots of room for adjustments to the colors and values.

Every time I watch you, I learn something. My watercolors fade to blah so I need to punch up with value.

Yours is a very common problem,,,always remember watercolor dries at least 10% lighter, trust yourself and compensate by painting each value 10% richer,,,,Ed Whitney said, if it looks right when it's wet,,,,,,it's wrong!
