Ultimax 100 (full-auto)

- Ultimax 100 is a light machine gun made in Singapor. It uses a short-stroke gas piston operating system and fires from an open bolt. Ultimax 100 uses a constant recoil principle where the design allows the bolt carrier group to travel all the way back against a spring without ever impacting the rear. This means that the Ultimax 100 has very soft recoil and is super controllable.
Shooting with this light machine gun is easy and very enjoyable.
Big thanks to Sellier & Bellot and their ballistic testing range for making all of this possible!

This relatively short video contains almost everything what youtube doesnt like.
That is reason alone to give this video huge thumbs up.

In 1982 or 83 there was a weapons expo in Belgium. The Ultimax rep's showed there weapons off by shooting one handed and off the nose and or forehead and the crazy part was they were all women doing the demonstration shooting! Excellent weapon designs!
(not that women cant be as strong as men)
I think we should bring back weapon expos where women would demonstrate shooting full auto machineguns. I would pay to see that :D
@@PolenarTactical I Agree!
@@PolenarTactical 100% 🤩
@@Fruggggg Europe wasn't that politically correct in the 80's
As a Singaporean, it is so lovely to see more recognition in our designs. Thanks to ST Engineering for creating such a beauty!
Im pretty sure one of the people eho helped with the AR 15 designed this, sorry
@@Minutes-Mils Not surprised. Seeing how many of ST's designs derived from the AR.
Since the formation of the SAF in the early 70s, they've adopted the XM16 as their standard issue rifle. It is even said that they have reused certain parts for future designs. That is to what I know anyways. I mean, even the Ultimax is still using stanag mags.
@@Minutes-Mils yep, James Sullivan helped with the development of the Ultimax 100
Cool
@@andrewkristensen1396 plus that machine gun is used by US Army Special Forces operators AKA Green Berets.
Basically similar to the recoil of a water hose. It's there but it's smooth. And once you know exactly how much you need to push into it, it just stays on target indefinitely
Try firefighter water hose then:)
Very good analogy
Lead hose!
@@joe125ful50 cal constant recoil lmao
Singapore made the Ultimax 100 because our men are relatively smaller, and the lightweight, very-little-recoil Ultimax was what the Singapore army needed and wanted. Previously whenever we needed automatic fire we had to lug the FN MAG GPMG around, a rather heavy beast. A tired soldier doesn't shoot well.
wow what casual self inferiority remark that is
@@CCPJAYLPHAN1994 No self-inferiority remark intended, and neither was it casual. I can attest to the fact that we Singaporean soldiers are of slighter build than Western soldiers (I served 2.5 years in the Singapore Army). Any weight reduction is really welcome, provided it doesn't come at the expense of accuracy, which it didn't (but did at the expense of range).
Ignore him, he's one of those insane Western liberal types who think race, ethnicity and genetics do not exist. It is true that Singaporean soldiers tend to be smaller than their Western counterparts and thus the Ultimax 100 would be a fine weapon. @@rxotmfrxotmf8208
@@CCPJAYLPHAN1994 what the hell could be self-demeaning about simply saying people in some countries are physically smaller? do you rate people by height or something? I'd say it says more about you
That's pretty brilliant. Singaporean weapon arms crafted the gun for their people rather than having the people try to accommodate the gun. Really makes the weapon a real extension of the body.
Massively underrated weapon…
Why? As i've read in wiki there is no straight compatibility with ar mags. Also known an opinion that there is no really reliable high capacity drum mags at current time in the world. No belt feed. So this gun doessn't look so sweet for real deal. And what about price? May be it is too expensive
Yep and proves drum mags are good.
Well, maybe people were scared off by the name. "Ultimax 100" just exudes 80's sleaze vibes.
@@fullhouse3175
That is true but this weapons design was adapted by surefire to make their own version that takes ar mags
Only reason that the army didn't go with it was because they want belt feds for saw weapons
*Underrecoiled
Gamers: this gun has absolute 0 recoil with these attachments
Polenar Tactical: this gun has 0 recoil with no attachments
It is so unreal how well that thing shoots. It's like a Hollywood fantasy come true
Most ranges: no full auto
These guys: no semi auto
The first 10 seconds of this video are "how to make sure the audience knows we make no money from these videos."
Excessive swearing, brandishing an automatic weapon... this is wonderful to watch. Subscriber gained.
Sellier & Bellot brought us to the range and we were able to shoot full auto for free. For me that's more valuable then any CZcams money :)
Welcome to the channel! :)
Glad you like it ,it was my weapon for 2 years when I was serving the army , we call it the SAW , section automatic weapon , Magazine of 30 bullets , drum could fit 100 bullets , 5.62 , it is a light weight powerful weapon with built in tripod as well .
One of the best design ever created. Period.
This is great and it really feels like you guys are having fun.
For the next exposed: kitchen gas tanks used to destroy actual tanks like in Vukovar 1995.
it looks so good with that drum magazine.i am quite suprised that the muzzle didnt climb when in full auto.very very interesting gun
That is awesome. I wish I could have carried that when I was in the Marines. SEMPER FI
Almost anyone in the Singapore infantry knows this gun and the following terminology; law law saw saw. Excellent section automatic weapon that was even tried out by the Navy seals but not put to operational use due to M249 having a box magazine
From young I know this gun and it's users already
Some sections of Delta use it though.
great@@Irfan87
It is visibly amazing.
Love the way you word your inner most feelings. Poetry 👍
That needs to go immediately on my Christmas list.
Awesome! Looks like the recoil is very manageable.
Manageable is and understatement
@@PolenarTactical I think the most important question is "Do I dare to bring it to war". You guys (and gal) do tac drills right? If you were given an Ultimax, how confident would you be in running a tac drill with it? What weapon would you choose over it and what weapon would you be comfortable in replacing with this?
WHAT RECOIL? ;D There isn't any.
Jim Sullivan is an absolute boss.
Very cool. The recoil on that rifle looks remarkably flat. 👍
what recoil? :'-D
I'm loving these shorts videos with cool stuff :) especially the full auto's - screw the algorithm give us what we want :)
Manca needs one of her own. Seeing her hose lead like that under such control is one of the most badass clips on YT. Wedding gift? Birthday? Christmas? Get on it, Ziga!
It would have been a great gun had STK built an upgrade kit for older marks. And the SAF hadn't shuffled their feet in vying for improvements which never happened. The magazine in my opinion was it's weakspot.
Yes it is the weak point of the design. The US Navy tested it for possible SEAL use. It was found to have an Unacceptable level of stoppages. The most common stoppage was the magazine simply falling out.
@@Rockwolf66 if im not mistaken, the US Green Berets do use it.
@@johnwig285 5th SFG did test a few as part of the IAR project. It seems that the Ultimax 100 didn't show superiority over the Other LMGs that are available.
The magazine catch is the worst part on this otherwise great LMG.
On plenty of examples in Singapore, the mag catch is so worn out that a light slap on the side of the magazine is enough to jar the mag catch and drop the mag out of the gun. Cool trick on the MG range but imagine how many mags you'd lose on the two way.
There's a reason the new marks of Ultimax MG uses M16 style of magazine well (tower design) to retain mags. It does mean the big C mag (100 round single drum) can't be used in the new Ultimax, but let's be real. Drum magazine sucks for field use anyways.
Ultimax stick mags basically are normal STANAG mags with 3 holes drilled into the left feedlip area which engage with the mag catch originally designed for the drum. It's trash, really. Weakens the already dainty feedlips on the M16 mags.
When I was in NS, there was once the magazine just fell out and I did not realize it. I was VERY lucky that the instructor picked it up. Amazingly, I only had to drop thirty. It could have been a lot more serious than that.
The surefire mgx is pretty much the perfected version of this. Although it's an Ultimax M4A1 hybrid.
wouldnt the perfected version be the one that Knight's Armament makes? its a true lmg
@@joemama.556 That’s belt fed which probably gives it a different purpose compared to mag fed machine guns…….
sooooo about that dual feed system.
No muzzle rise at all…😮 you could decorate a cake with it
Good to see weapons that did not originate in America and Russia.
Recently saw an interesting review of the Chinese QBZ-191. A few different reviews of the Beretta ARX-160 (5.56nato) and the Beretta ARX-200 (7.62nato).
The South Korean K-2 was actually demonstrated to me by South Korean soldiers while I was in the US Army stationed in South Korea. Watched a video of some Bundeswehr soldiers field striping the H&K G-36. There was a lot of small small parts in the G-36.
Wish I could go to Europe so everyone at the Polenar Tactical team can shoot my Robinson Arms XCR-L rifle. The newest rifle design in the USA. A long stroke, adjustable gas piston. Completely ambidextrous controls. New design of a charging handle that is a forward assist that goes to the front and rear. A one piece upper that eliminates all the connecting parts of the AR 15 series of rifles. Only five parts for a simple field stripping disassembly. A folding adjustable stock for a perfect fit to just about everybody. Capable of quickly changing to four different calibers: 5.56Nato, 7.63x39 AK, .300-Blackout and 6.8 SPC. Need only a .25-inch Allen key and medium sized screwdriver to change calibers.
Happy New year and thanks for the new video
Happy New Year to you too! :)
No BS. just DAKKA. Love ya guys. Subscribed
i love watching you guys
Seems like a similar design to the Stoner 63 or the Daewoo K2, very cool to see
The muzzle barely moved, AMAZING! I WANT ONE!
i think we all want one 😀
Carried this around during training
35 yrs ago.....
Better to be tasked to carry this lightweight MG than the 84mm RR. LOL
Bad luck indeed if you was tasked to carry the 84mm Carl Gustav. In my days (ROD 1982), carrying the 7.62 FN GPMG was just as bad. You guys were lucky to have the Ultimax.
I Love guns that make you giggle!
WOW, I love its shape!
I love that gun. I wish I had one. Love the channel. Hello from Texas
Same here probablly hard fine one of those with drum mag.
Cheers from Slovenia! :)
I imagine being dirtily dumping 30rd mag and feeling bad about it, just to be given a drum mag.... they really know how to receive people and put them at ease!!!
It's good to hear shooting and laughter together as God intended it.
0:43 - It seems to take old AR-18 magazines. Notice the horizontal Slit in the magazine. AR15 magazine body that is essentially cut for the old AR-18/180
0:49 That wasn't a malfunction per se. What you got was a so-called "stove pipe". Usually it happens due to a crappy ammo or magazine. I got to shoot a U-100 a few years ago. It's practically a recoil-less weapon.
I remember when I was a child , it was possible to win tickets during the local carnival by playing manny different games . If you had a lot of tickets , you Gould use tickets to trade for prices . One of the prices was a keychain ornament made out of casted metal , it was a miniature model of this machine gun . And as key chain ornament it was very small , only costed a few tickets .
I know this video was shoot when you were in CZ but can you do the disassembly and talk over some of its features by any chance? This is really cool and interesting gun.
We are definitely planning to go back to S&B to make more content. At the time of filming this video we had 20 machineguns to try out and only a couple of hours to do it.
I would love to do a proper review and a disassembly videos
@@PolenarTactical possible to do a SAR-21 one too?
@@kelvink9999 all already done in Forgotten Weapons channel.
I love it, soft recoil 👍
My favorite gun...easy to use,,easy to control
This is how ziga got Manca to say yes, when he give her that drum magazine, he knew she would loves him forever!! 😂🥰❤️🐶
Best technology, very accurate.
Lov u guys! Keep it up
I love how the camera guy just walks into the wall of brass flying at him XD
Malfunction is common with this weapon, especially with the metal m16 mag. Best to use a drum mag, it actually malfunctions less
But from what I heard, the drum mags were less functioning then the m16 mags, personally never fired with drum mag, only with the m16, never had any problems with firing live rounds... Blanks on the other hands...
The gun works fine with live rounds. It just a nightmare when it is fired with blank rounds.
YEEEEEEEEES!!! I can feel the power!
Wow! The recoil
"This is Thompson modified", I thought exactly the same thing when I saw the Ultimax 100 in the first time!
What a machine 👏
Hey. Hey!!!! Send some of that ammo to the US! Ha ha
Cool seeing that. Clearly a great design and looks like you guys had a ton of fun! Thanks for sharing!
S&B is actually building a whole new factory just to keep up with the US ammo demand :D
@@PolenarTactical will check them out!
Wonderful gun
FWAH. Bring back fun times as a SAW gunner back in Tengah.
Just beautiful
Now that is smooth! I'd like to see a modernized version of that gun.
That's the mk2 or 3, I think... there's a mk8 as a prototype, but nobody seems to want it, really, so it's not in mass production yet. One of the supposed poorer features was the low fire rate due to the long bolt travel time.
@@mark347347 this one's a Mk3, the older Mk2's have an L-shaped carrying handle situated just after the ejection port, a fixed barrel, a short stubby fore-grip, and a really janky magazine catch...literally a thin strip of metal with 2 nubs that(kinda)catch on to the corresponding holes punched into those 30rd STANAG mags. Also, the bolt handle on the Mk2 had to be unlocked by rotating it forward before you could rack the bolt back.
And the butt stock came off by sliding up on the Mk2.
@@grail2002 ah but actually no, sliding up would be the Mk3 also, the Mk2's buttstock were attached with 2 locking guide rods, and once released would slideout backwards and away from the gun. Just to add, another difference is the gas regulator, Mk2 has more gas settings than the Mk3.
Oh sht! Oh fk! It's the Ultimax 100, no recoil hax gun. Epic.
Wow it sounds like a proper full machine gun, not an assault rifle. Brilliant
What a weird abomination!
Love it!
Awesome no recoil ,, fantastic
The pkp and the u100 are the only lmg's I would ever want
Good stuff
I love the Singapore Tommy Gun!
I need one of these!
Wow... as a SAW gunner in USMC, I would love to have this Weapon System!
I love this gun
I love that gun.
Finally a typewriter you could write with.
That's insane!
Great video
Thanks
Beautiful....no recoil at all...!!!
At the expense of 0:45 reliability. Automatic fire should be at 900 RPM and spent cartridges arcing forward
*But muh recoil*
It's a .22 FFS
*But muh wear and tear*
Part and parcel of a machinegun
I could never understand why this firearm was not more successful. 80,000 units and still in production says a lot, but if it were up to me, I would build it under licence everywhere.
When the engineer built this gun, they forgot to add in recoil
that shit doesnt even move, absolutely amazing
Ultimax just looks like a Normal AR. This is a good LMG
"Does it have a non reciprocating charging handle? Well yes, but also no"
I noticed that, it did what it wanted. I see no issue :)
Very good
Love the vid
Wow so controlable
Amazing 👏
One of my favorite guns to use in Far Cry 3
Very steady
The drum mag!
Lite af would love that
So good
It's a slightly modified stg44 of course it's fun to shoot

The girl’s bicep 😮😮😮😮 better than mine
Now try the fn minimi para version without earpro ( it is said it compensates the Weapon recoil by pressing the exercise blood out thru your ears )
It looks like a SAW that got flattened like a character in one of those old cartoons.
