- This is the COMPLETELY ORIGINAL Westinghouse Selectomatic Mark IV Service Elevator at the Hilton Hotel in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. Unlike the Main Elevators which got a slap on mod with Dewhurst before the Kruppy Mod started, this one is COMPLETELY ORIGINAL!!!!!! Sadly, just like the main elevators, Thyssenkrupp is modernizing these, but with MAD BS Moon fixtures rather than Touch 2 Go. The AE fixtures on this elevator were REALLY COOL and Old Fashioned and this thing runs VERY WELL and is very clean for a service elevator. The fixtures are a little beat up, but still FANTASTIC for a service elevator!!!!!! The dinner bells were original and nice too and they were MUSIC TO MY EARS!!!!!! As you see, since this hotel is modernizing their elevators, they have opened up these service elevators to hotel guests which is how I got to ride these, even though I wasn't staying at this hotel at the time. Westinghouse is VERY RARE in Canada, ESPECIALLY IN ORIGINAL CONDITION!!!!! With that being said, it's such a shame these are getting modernized. This was the only original service elevator left, the other 2 were modded, I did get a short clip of the modded one at the end, but I didn't bother doing a full ride on it as I didn't have a lot of time, and I just wanted to ride the old elevator since this was my only chance to do so!!!! This Elevator is From 1974, which is the year this hotel opened, and hasn't changed at all until this mod that's going on. You can also see the Selectomatic panel in the service corridors in this video as well!!!!! Anyways, with that being said, let's give this EPIC ELEVATOR, It's kind is RARE in Canada, a FINAL ride before Kruppy modernizes it......
Also, today is Dieselducy's birthday, but unfortunately, my birthday video I made for him isn't ready yet. I will get it up tommorrow, but Happy Birthday to him, stay tuned for the video, and for now, let's enjoy this!!!!!
Installed: 1974 (Westinghouse Selectomatic Mark IV with AE Fixtures) (Seen throughout video)
Being Modernized: 2017 (Thyssenkrupp Momentum with MAD BS Moon Fixtures) (Seen at end of video) - Věda a technologie
This is pretty cool!! But it's sad to see a RARE elevator in Canada get a UGLY mod!! UGH!!
I would have put the concave buttons next to the original buttons to create a unique look FRIRND!
NW Indiana Elevators Well, there’s 2 in Vancouver.
BC'sVators Oh really? Dang! Wish I got to them! Where were they?
saw a epic 80's Westy glass elevator with the dinner bell in foggy bottom in DC in Elevatorman138's neighborhood.
In love with then buttons to bad there getting modded the chime are like music to my ears
PAelevators Totally agree!!!!!
yes...
PAelevators I love concave buttons!!! Especially the ones with halos!!!!! If it were up to me I would give ThyssenKrupp "AEU" grade for putting concave buttons!!! Even some generic companies right here in the United States normally do concave button mods!!! Being a concave button lover, I think the mod is absolutely amazing but not completely awesome because they removed the Westinghouse buttons during the mod which sucks kind of
I love vintage Westies!
Wow, I still haven't found a original Westinghouse!
CAelevators They are a dying breed sadly. :(
the last westinghouse i rode was back in 2015 & that was the first elevator i ever filmed & it was a traction model going 400 F.P.M for 18 floors
+CAelevators
Westinghouse elevators seem to be very rare in California, especially unmodernized. Same for Haughton & Schindler Haughton elevators.
Nice old westy, fucking new ones!
(00:50 : the man said: is to bring up the freight.)
Beautiful...
I will have to say, this mod is really nice with the new concave Mad BS Julius Moon buttons!
Technicalboy3000 No. It looks too generic. IMO
I do agree it looks a little bit generic but hey at least they didn't get the kone mod the fairmont got so it isn't as bad... Concave buttons are like a mod from heaven these days & in nyc, when a new elevator gets a mod with concave buttons regardless of the brand, it's like a mod from "God Elevator Company" because it's sooooooooo rare
i like it befoe you get in the door you can hear the dinner bell
S stands for... Spooky Level!!!
Kinda like a Before & After Madernization.
Oregon Elevator Fan LOL. All except I mostly just showed the Before.
Rode this elevator while staying at this hotel last weekend! Such a cool elevator but such horrible service at the Hilton, never stay there!
Canadian Elevators It's still original!?!?!? Wow!!!! And I thought I was there the last day it was in service!!!! Did you get a video of this and the main elevators here?
Floridian Elevators yes but the modernized ones, there are no westinghouses left in the main block
Canadian Elevators Wow. I'm In case you didn't see my video, you would know there were still 2 Westies in the Main Bank.
Floridian Elevators I did see your video before I went but I stayed there a month after you went, there was one westy in the main block but it was getting modded
Canadian Elevators The one in this video is still original when you went, right?
I will be afraid to ride the service elevator on my own when I go to big hotels, so, for that reason, I would rather film it while I'm being escorted by a staff member or security guard.
Technicalboy3000 Well, these service elevators were open to the public due to the elevator modernization on the main elevators to reduce inconvenience for guests
Floridian Elevators **puts 9801 thumbs into the air**
Technicalboy3000 ??????? LOL
**laughs SO HARD my tailbone cracks due to the laughter itself**
I like original westinghouse. I like the dinner bell. But the modernization is disgusting!
JBElevator 101 Tell me about it!!!! Looks too generic!!!
JBElevator 101 concave buttons can't be any worse then ERM CA 93 on LA. & Even I'm saying ERM CA 93 is crap & I normally like stylish buttons... This mod however wasn't the best as ThyssenKrupp could have put the new buttons next to the old ones but still wanted to remove the old buttons. If this was a CRAPCO super suck line then I would go on a ful on rant as those are even more bad then monitor 1000
The elevators made today are an absolute joke. the old ones were built to last and as long as you can get parts for them you can fix them for a very long time. The elevators made today within 10 years are done.
