  • Dubai was one of the first cities to emerge from the pandemic, reopening to tourism by the middle of 2021. The emirate now has set its sights on becoming a global tech hub by attracting entrepreneurs, investors and even crypto influencers to the city. But will its bet on cryptocurrency catapult it to success or leave it in the dust?

Dubai's actual blocker to be a tech hub will be lack of engineering talent..
Their talent is mostly at university level coders.... They need seasoned professionals from places like India to really boost the process, that also means they have compete with US and EU counterparts who currently hire from India in bulk.
They have to really ramp up their hiring from India.

The problem with Dubai is that it is not a focus for top companies. It is not an emerging nor a big economy; hence we have a lot of niche markets, and the economy departments on mainly
Freezone (which may cause issues for other companies due to a tax haven is hated by other countries)
Real Estate - (it is a remote country with people making money elsewhere and putting it here, making them dependent on other nation’s economies)
Financial market (it is particular to niche financials like crypto and other funny wealth management products)
Travel (as we saw in 2001, 2009 2020 that is volatile and based on external dependency)

@@diptosarker810 i think you are thinking about saudi arabia. In the UAE people can drink alcohol anywhere private but doing so openly in public is not allowed. For pork there are generally separate sections in supermarkets or warnings in the restaurant menus so that a muslim doesn't accidentally eat that (they do the same for beef too as Hindus don't eat beef). And most Emiratis go to American or British schools and are very western lol, most of time the women wearing burkhas are from India or Pakistan lol

The problem of Dubai is it became not tech hub but sanctions evading tool for Russians. Now it's notoriously annoying to go there or open a tech company because Dubai is polluted with nationalistic and imperialistic Russians who escaped Russia not to feel sanctions and enjoy a better life quality but they still support the war Russia started in Ukraine. Dubai basically erased itself from map of places to go due to overwhelming imperialistic Russian population that pollutes Dubai streets.
