  • Today Paisley and I go exploring in our own yard on the hunt for ISOPODS!
Isopods in our own yard? Yes and you can find them in your yard too should you go exploring. Easy to find, easy to care for these amazing little critters are actually not native to North America but play a valuable role in the ecology of the forrest floor. True detritivores they act as a clean up crew of sorts breaking down plant and animal matter.
Whatever name you call them be it pill bugs, sow bugs, wood lice, they are all Isopods and they make fascinating critters to study and observe. Easily cared for extremely low maintenance pets.
So come with Paisley and I today as we explore and discuss the Isopods we find in our backyard in todays video Isopods Gone Wild.
    Enjoy!

I didn't know they shed. I've had a bunch in my worm bin for years. Cute daughter and I love that she's not afraid of the creepy crawlers.

Your daughter’s adorable. We used to call those little buggers potato bugs when I was a kid. 👍✌️

This is one of the things we and my 4 year old son do together, he loves to look and care for them. For him being so young he knows an amazing amount.

Might be a bit late but most of them look a bit more like Porcellio spinicornis then Oniscus asellus to me at least

Great video! This was the perfect recess activity for my littles who are still doing distance learning. We didn't find nearly as many as y'all did, though. My youngest is super interested in isopods because of your videos on them.

Great video! very informative... I think those isopods you're finding are Porcellio spinicornis though.
