  • St. Seraphim said, “My joy, I beg you, acquire the spirit of peace.”
    St. Seraphim of Sarov (+1833) is one of the most beloved Saints on recent times, truly a Saint of God cleansed and illumined, whose life and teachings overflow with divine energy. You may have heard his words: “Acquire the spirit of peace and thousands around you will be saved.” If you are not yet familiar with St. Seraphim please buy the book linked below or find more online. He is a wonderful Saint to learn from, from inquirer to holy elder.
    This is the second recording for Orthodox Wisdom by our brother Sergius. Please pray for us.
    Text from The Orthodox Word, Issue #10, 1966; “The Teaching of St. Seraphim of Sarov on: The Acquisition of the Holy Spirit”: archive.org/details/100101V17...
    To read more from St. Seraphim, there is quite possibly no better place to start than “Little Russian Philokalia, Vol. 1” which includes the Life of St. Seraphim, his “Spiritual Instructions to Laymen and Monks,” his soul-saving conversation with Nicholas Motovilov “On the Acquisition of the Holy Spirit,” and his prophetic “Great Diveyevo Mystery.” Buy here: www.sainthermanmonastery.com/...
    This channel is dedicated to sharing the writings and lives of the Saints of the Eastern Orthodox Church. Glory to Jesus Christ!

    Bro. Please I am begging you. Do the whole text of On the Acquisition of the Holy Spirit. It takes about 40 mins. We need a proper audio version of this text. There used to be a really good one on CZcams for many years, but now it’s gone 😭

    • @OrthodoxWisdom
      @OrthodoxWisdom  Před 3 lety +5

      I just searched for the audiobook on CZcams I used to listen to and can’t find it. I did find this and it’s well done. Is this what you have in mind? czcams.com/video/0yEfq6B86WU/video.html
      If the whole text is not online myself or Sergius would be happy to record it. Also, I get a little confused as to what teaching of his exactly you are talking about. Is “On the Acquisition of the Holy Spirit” the same as the conversation with Motivilov? I’m happy to help if you can help me know exactly what teaching of St. Seraphim’s is not longer available on audio. Thank you.

      @@OrthodoxWisdom Oh. I somehow wasn’t aware of this 2 part version. It appears to have been posted 2 years ago already. Thanks for the link.
      Also, yes his conversation with Motovilov is usually called On the Acquisition of the Holy Spirit. The text you have read in this video is not from his conversation with Motovilov, but from a totally different conversation he once had with an unnamed monk who visited him.

      @OrthodoxWisdom  Před 3 lety +1

      Great. So just to confirm, the text you wanted to have on audio is one I linked above? Are there other texts by St. Seraphim that are not available via audiobook?

    • @SaintNicholasFan
      @SaintNicholasFan Před 3 lety +1

      @@OrthodoxWisdom There are countless texts from St. Seraphim that are not in audiobook. But the conversation with Motovilov is probably the most important one. Yes. The 2 part video you linked is what I was originally referring to. There is actually a second conversation he has with Motovilov some time afterwards where he makes him experience the three torments of hell, but that one is much less well known and read for obvious reasons 😅

      @@OrthodoxWisdom BTW If you actually do decide to make an audio version of Acquisition of the Holy Spirit, I highly recommend uploading it in one part and including the short introduction. Also put time stamps in for each major section so it’s easy to navigate.

    You haven't replied to my comment though. So you don't believe what God says in Genesis 3?

    • @OrthodoxWisdom
      @OrthodoxWisdom  Před měsícem

      What in Genesis 3 makes you think that St. Seraphim is wrong? God made everything good, he had a purpose for the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. He wanted Adam and Eve to freely exercise obedience and when their will was trained to be obedient and trust God in all things, and not be beguiled by the enemy, they they would be ready for the advanced stage of the knowledge of good and evil according to God’s will. Also, St. Seraphim is not the first to teach this and it’s entirely in accord with Scripture.

    • @jackieisseri2967
      @jackieisseri2967 Před měsícem

      The bible is clear. 'Of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat'

    • @OrthodoxWisdom
      @OrthodoxWisdom  Před měsícem

      @jackieisseri2967 that doesn’t have to mean “do not eat forever no matter what”

  • @jackieisseri2967
    @jackieisseri2967 Před měsícem

    Seraphim is not Christian. His teachings are totally non-biblical. For example, he says that eating of the fruit of the tree of good and evil would have been absolutely fine, just they were a bit too hasty and didn't wait for god's ok. Lots of other things totally unbiblical.

      If you ever enter the heavenly realm, you’ll meet the saint that today you disparage. God help you recognize the true nature of Christ’s Body, the Church.
