The fourth episode in our “Chronicles of the Desert” series introduces us to Seraphim of Sarov, a modern saint who lived much like the desert fathers of old. He followed the same counsel that Arsenios the Great received from God (flee, be silent, pray always) and lived many years alone deep within a Russian forest.

Thank you for this. When I became Orthodox, 12 years ago, an Icon of Saint Seraphim was one of my first. He is holding a scroll saying ”acquire the spirit of peace and a thousand souls will be saved around you” after looking at it every day since, and after watching this, I might be starting to understand that peace. And that piece is as beautiful as it is elusive.

@@122222770 Orthodox is not a religion , it’s Christianity. Catholic , Orthodox or Protestant are all Christianity but different theology.
But catholic and orthodox are more united because of the sacraments. They were one church till the great schism in the 11 century.
In the 16 century there were a separation from the catholic , they are called Protestant.
Satan always divides us. And Christ unites us.

I live a similar life but less righteous. I have recently been under spiritual attack. Constant worries that my health is failing due to my life style. Then I lost the hearing of one ear. Then trouble with my eye. Something doesn't like that I'm trying and seems to be trying to put me off. I have had a week of Job like worry.... But those that persevere win the prize! So I looked to the Lord. I have taken a lesson. Today. The Peace of The Lord! Stay on the Path brothers and sisters!

A deeply touching video.
My Grandpa, although Anglican, has a special devotion to an Icon of St Seraphim. He says his chotki before the icon every day, and I see it in his sitting room every time I go over there.
I would deeply appreciate the sources used for this video, as in the earlier ones. I am not all that knowledgeable on St Seraphim, but his icon of him in prayer on the rock has been a part of my life as far back as I can remember seeing my Grandpa.

Another inspiring video and extremely well done! I can’t help but wonder if there is anyone like this in our day and age! I can’t even imagine practicing that level of devotion and surrender to God. Gods tears flow here 🙇🏻♂️ I live near a kumeyaay band old terrain here in San Diego and theres creeks, ponds, and a river that connects to "The Source " and this very spot leads to a waterfall and spring that was also used hundreds and hundreds of years ago in shamanic practices and rituals for cleansing and healing.

The word "Άνοιξη" in the title should be "πηγή". Άνοιξη is just the season (winter, summer, autumn, spring) in greek. Πηγή is the place where we can find clear and cool water. :) Keep up the great work!

I think the photo showed at 1:58 is a copy of the real log cabin where St. Seraphim was living, the copy of the original log cabin is located about 5 kilometers away via road from Borjomi, Georgia. Here also is the Temple of Saint Seraphim of Sarov

That is a choice of words that may be misleading- he would rather be able to be in the spirit of god or be the spirit of god, with no separation ['filled with the holy spirit' as it is said next]; there is nothing to listen to because there is no sound coming from the spirit of god that can be heard as one regularly hears sounds. Whatever is registered in that spirit of god is what one is, not what one experiences with the senses as a 'regular mortal.'
