I find it so beautiful the way that saints relate to nature and animals. ❤ It's so sad that the importance of being kind to animals and taking care of the earth that God gave us is so often overlooked. I saw once a picture of them and found it inspiring. Knowing the story I see the beauty in the bond of humen and animals. It reminds me of my sister, having a strong bond with her cat. Something about it, that feels more like love than any human is capable of.

It will not be possible for humans to have peace on earth as long as we use and abuse fellow animals. Just think - if people are at peace in heart and mind, who would be willing to kill a fellow being? We now know, that animal-based foods ruin our health. This was a beautiful story. To think that even the lion was eating lentils, amazing! More than ever I feel that following a plant based diet is the right thing to do. The lives of the saints and holy men of God, so beautiful and inspiring, it really moved me to tears.
@gintonic3625 the change does not come from diet, but from fasting, spirit and body communion. Let us be careful to both and not only on eating meat....unless we end up as heretics.

@@ejchakaodza One day a man came to see Saint Paisios and when he arrived Paisios was very angry and said to him "You killed my friend!" the man was stunned and said "elder I haven't killed anyone" It turns out that the man had killed a snake on his way to see him and St. Paisios was friends with the snake.

We read about saints, who, falsely accused, quietly, and humbly endure criticism or a punishment until the Lord reveals their innocence, and not only restores them to their former place or higher, but also reveals their humility and saintliness..
And here the lion fulfills that saintly role..

What all such stories also point to is our longing to be restored to Paradise and the relationship that Adam and Eve had at first with the animals in the Garden..
