    Whitney Field is the only base in the game I would consider overpowered. It stand tall above all other bases in terms of its raw benefits that it provides. It is in a class of its own. THAT doesn't mean that other bases aren't fun to use or have beautiful landscapes, but when it comes to a matter of "what is the best base?" There is no other answer: Whitney Field. No other base provides more for you than this one.
    Even Jurassic Junction isn't as powerful as this base.

    • @jon6car
      @jon6car Před 2 lety +2

      @@GitGudFox If we're talking about maximal use then yeah Whitney Field is far better. But for early game farming the Church on the Hill only takes 5 people and costs 1,000. Considering that the game can only render 6 community members + the active person means it's fairly close to max strength (that being defense strength) in that regard. One could easily start off in Cascade Hills get to the Church begin farming influence and move Meagher Valley and claim Whitney Field. By then they ought to have the resources to destroy any plague hearts that might be blocking it and move right into max farm mode

    • @GitGudFox
      @GitGudFox  Před 2 lety +1

      Waste of time, just move directly into Whitney Field. It's 8-man, 3500 influence, and you can start the game with 4000 influence with the Trader boon. 1 scentblock will clear the 4 plague hearts, 2 if you're less experienced.
      Failing the common story enclaves will get you 3 people quickly, then just recruit 1 random guy from a quest, pay 750 influence to recruit the initial "plague samples" quest friendly enclave and go straight into Whitney Field.
      If you're going a legacy run, you're better off in Trumbull Valley for access to scentblock from the Echo Labs research center anyways.
      So, no, I wouldn't want to do some kind of early game farming. I think that's a waste of time.

    • @GitGudFox
      @GitGudFox  Před 2 lety +1

      In fact, I just did that on my new forever community. I was in Whitney Field in basically 2-3 game days, and I did that with the Sheriff Legacy to boot, so I didn't even have the starting 4000 influence.
      Basically, if you're already going to have to destroy 2-3 plague hearts to get into the church... farm... change bases... nah, that's a waste of time. You might as well just destroy 4 plague hearts and go straight into Whitney Field.

    • @GitGudFox
      @GitGudFox  Před rokem

      Your first option should be to not kill them because they're not worth much. They can be useful for power leveling your standing if you really need to level people up.
      If you do need to kill a juggernaut, the JuggerSplode aka Bouncing Boris will 1-shot them, but it takes a little practice getting the hang of the throw. They're also very economical.

    • @sensualsquelch
      @sensualsquelch Před 2 lety +3

      I love SoD2, but I feel this so hard. I think a major problem is that the game really lacks a lot of the heart that original game and it’s stories had. Even when they finally got around to adding story updates into 2 most of them just feel very surface level

    • @GitGudFox
      @GitGudFox  Před 2 lety +14

      It's because Undead Labs chooses cosmetic changes to the game, primarily, over mechanical changes that have a more transformative effect.
      Compare 4 years of SoD2 post game development to 4 years of 7 Days to Die or Oxygen Not Included development.
      Those 2 games primarily focus on adding new gameplay elements.
      A lot of Undead Labs' work went towards the Bounty Broker system which is a bunch of weapon skins and clothing skins.
      They also put nearly 2 years into making new maps. New maps are also cosmetics because you're playing the same game but with new scenery. Each map took the better part of a year to make, about 7 months.

    Since you don’t have any hydroponics how do you keep up with the food and medicine upkeep unless you just buy food rucksacks?

    • @GitGudFox
      @GitGudFox  Před rokem

      Well, the first thing to know is that this is a highly refined / specialized playstyle I use because I've played the game at its highest difficulty for 5 years, so my methods can be a little different than average.
      I don't build any food facilities because I have learned to manage it in other ways allowing me to build another buff facility.
      1) I manage medicine by rarely getting blood plague. You won't really use medicine for anything besides the -2 meds per day if you don't catch the blood plague. The best use for medicine late game is to make beer/strong pain killers to sell.
      2) I manage my food through outposts. I start losing 6 food per day on Lethal Zone. 1 outpost knocks it down to -4 food per day and 2 outposts knocks it down to -2 food per day.
      I will often use 5 food outposts.
      But what about the other resources?
      3) I manage materials by not upgrading facilities to the max. Most facilities only charge you -1 materials per day when fully maxed out. My material losses will normally only come from Trade Depot / Lounge Level 3 because they're worth it, but I often leave the infirmary at level 2 and the gym at level 1.
      4) I manage ammo by not using watchtowers unless the base is so good that the built-in watchtowers are worth it like Whitney Field. Base defense comes from not being at your base rather than through watchtowers.
      5) Fuel is the hardest to manage. I manage fuel by having a Driving skill character, an Automechanic (both improve fuel efficiency when driving) and by gaining allied enclaves to try and get the Caravans fuel bonus.
