A great set of videos. I lived in Reseda for 27 years. I moved away 18 years ago. Even though I am an earlier generation from you, your vids gave me memories, mostly of the eating places and movie theaters. My Soo Way story: One Saturday evening my friend came over. She was from Taiwan. She stopped at Soo Way to pickup some takeout. Her idea. She had never been there before. When we opened the containers, they were not what she expected. The Chow Mein had no noodles. She took her fiery temper back to the store to complain. She was told that their food was prepared for American people. I think she understood.

Ha! My sisters and I would do that with our big gulps; mix all the pops. I could really use a lime slurpee right about now!
Great story about the ice cream trip in the Samurai. Personally, I would like it if you keep telling the stories; I like hearing about other peoples' experiences growing up, and what life was really like in different places at different times, and what makes people nostalgic. I think it's fascinating. You never know what might trigger some cool memory of your own. And of course, it's cool to see how different things look now, from back when. Big like from me. Cheers !

The former North Hollywood location of Malibu Grand Prix/Malibu Castle/Castle Park on Vanowen & Whitsett was my favorite valley hangout in the 80's. I have many fond memories of the former waterslide which was eventually replaced by the iconic go-carts sometime in the late 80's. Back in the day it was also one of the few places where you could play "Dragon's Lair", the famed laserdisc based arcade game. Now it's just a bunch of drab senior living apartments.

There was an Oval Go-Cart track right next to Malibu Grand Prix. It was called "Slider Cars". The guy working the track would wet the entrance to both corners with water from a hose. The 5 horse Briggs engines had the governors removed to help effect a better drift while going around the curve. It was much cheaper and in my opinion much better than M.G.P. Thanks for the helping me remember some really great times when I was 18.

Great video! It's really cool to see your experiences and think of my own that made our generation have such a ball back in the 80's. Mine were in Milwaukee and I really miss those times. I'm lucky that I married my first and only in 1989 and I can now reminisce with my significant other about going go carting at Johnson Park on our first date or going roller skating. You just don't have those experiences anymore. The millennials and Z gens are the true old fogies with their noses in the phones.....

Malibu Castle. The arcade inside was amazing in the early-mid1980s. In fact, I learned later that Malibu Castle had its own video game division, Millennium Games Products. I played the ultrarare (unique?) laser disc game Freedom Fighter there, which was modeled after Dragon's Lair, but a futuristic anime. I remember the big crowd of kids around that cabinet. I also remember playing Gauntlet right after it came out when I was barely tall enough to reach the controls. Great memories.

When you pointed out where the actual entrance to the electronics store was , it all came back to me, esp the big 5 part! I went to our lady of grace from k-7 , next store to the ralphs and would get ice cream at that thrifty all the time! I spent many night at the arcade in Northridge also, we would go there when starbucks on Reseda and Devonshire closed. Once we got bored, we leave the cars there and walk across the street to Denny's.

Yes, count me in on a big vote for you to keep sharing your personal memories. That is the whole idea behind this anyway. You probably have an idea of the number of memories you have triggered among your subscribers, including myself. You should keep the dialogue open so that we can all share our memories as well. Yes, I was the one who pointed out the Pup n Taco on Reseda Blvd. Like yourself, I lived in many different places in the Valley. I lived in an apartment building on 7945 Reseda Blvd. which was just down the street from the Pup n Taco. Near Strathern.. In fact, an independent gas station was on the northeast corner of that intersection. This would have been 1972 (Again, I think I precede your Valley experience by about 10 years, during my high school/jr. college age.) Regular gas was .19 a gallon. That's right. I am not making this up. 19 cents a gallon. Further up at the intersection of Roscoe/Reseda was the Pic n Save you talk about in another installment in this series. Also in that center was a Van de Camps restaurant with the big blue windmill. Right on the southeast corner. Remember Van de Camps? I don't know if this was too early for you but man I remember that place. We ate there a few times. Also, if you lived near Sherman Way and Tampa you were close to the original Norm's Rare Guitar store. Where was it? Winnetka and Roscoe? I don't remember the exact intersection. Since you are a musician I am going to assume you know about Norm's rare guitars by now. Yes, it is on Ventura Blvd. now. Wow, what an institution that has become. I remember the Malibu Grand Prix on Nordhoff. This was around the corner from the Northridge Fashion Center Mall. There was a Burger King next to the MGP that we visited all the time. Also, there was a K-Mart behind the mall. I used to love to go into K-mart for their AIR-POPT popcorn they would make in the store. Such good popcorn, man. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. Do you remember a record store chain called Licorice Pizza or Pacific Stereo? Also, I think the corner of Sepulveda and Vanowen (?) was also a Big Ben's. Getting back to Reseda Blvd. As you head north on Reseda, just past Parthenia, as you come out from under the RR tracks, on the right was a Chicago Pizza style place called Morigi's Pizza. The best Chicago style pizza I have ever had in my life. It was an independent, family run restaurant. Numero Uno came close, but not exactly. I could keep going on here. Your videos touch off more memories than I can organize in a comments section. I will close this comment by saying I graduated from Cleveland High School in Reseda in 1973. I will assume you know where that is.

And absolutely I have found memories of Licorice pizza, I've mentioned it in a few videos and will again.
