FLIGHT OF THE ROOK

- I'm not a native Russian speaker so the translation may be off. I sort of cobbled it together from three different translations of the song and modified it to sound more natural in English. Either way, this song is really amazing. There's something about 80s Soviet and 90s Russian military folk songs that is just so good.
Ever since I made the "Warthogs Don't Go Fast" video using that song, I've been wanting to make this video with the Frogfoot using this classic piece, and I want to make more cinematic stuff set to different songs in the future as well. The Su-25A in DCS is a guilty pleasure of mine to fly about. The flight model feels smooth and weighty. The weapons are fun to use especially the laser guided ones. It really makes you feel a rush when staring down the barrel of enemy AAA knowing you have to hold the laser on target the whole time. It's a man's CAS plane lol. None of those fancy GPS guided weapons and advanced targeting pods. Just a man and his sight pipper. I highly recommend giving this puppy a chance sometime.
All of the footage you see I gathered while playing on Engima's Cold War, Tempest's Blue Flash, and a small mission I made for myself and friends. Thank you Moldy and PatatOorlog for flying this hunk of junk around with me :D

I'd love to hear your guys' feedback on this project. Did you like it? Would you like more or less external shots? Were the video effects too much? Maybe something I could have done better? I would like to produce more of these. I have several ideas floating in my head. Anyways, hope you all enjoy, and thanks for watching :D
I believe more external shots would complement the video nicely, possibly for this specific instance using a black and white filter + grain and shots that look like a person is holding a camera? Mimicking a civilian in the 80's/90's holding a camera recording a froggie doing a CAS run. I dunno, just an idea :D . LongShot (another DCS youtuber) has phenomenal shots in all his videos, which could give you inspiration! Give him a look, you might be surprised :) Well done though! Looks great, and I hope to see more at some point ^^
@@captainpepe5159 Thank you for the suggestions. It's hard for me to get external shots naturally b/c, for whatever reason, I am unable to view my own track files and must get them from someone else. The external shots I did use were done live watching a friend do some runs. I will try to do more external shots in the future tho. Also, I don't think a black and white filter would be that good. It's not like the Su-25 is from the 50s. It's very much an 80s jet lol. All the footage of it is typically in full color. Lastly, yes, I know who longshot is. I don't personally watch him b/c I just view him as a GS clone and I don't watch GS anymore either.
Such a creative product. Feels like raw footage, with the good and the bad, paired with such an emotional song. Luv it.
I dearly love all these 'folklore' songs. Thank you for sharing this masterpiece. Some may see it as something profane and unoriginal, but in my eyes, they are unique reflections of the mindset of a strike fighter pilot - I know what SEAD or CAS stand for, just for the sake of simplicity - with emphasis on dedication, comradery and sacrifice. Truly great and moving unlike any other piece of art, only (virtual) combat veterans would understand why. 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you. And I think I might change the title to something more original. Just couldn’t come up with anything
