      @@natesiress1057 If only they re added either a focus or decision chain to have the bombing of Pearl Harbor actually occur. I get that in the old US focus tree the "Pearl Harbor Gambit" focus was just a dumb thing to do but I think it could be done well.
      For example like an event could happen in April 1940 that says something like: "President requests the Pacific Fleet be stationed at Hawaii" and the one option would move the fleet to pearl harbor as well as give a small war support boost and the other option could cost a PP penalty of 50-100 and/or lose some war support.
      For Japan there could be the regular "Secure the Philippines" focus or one called something like "Neutralize the American Threat" that would be locked until after the American event and would give them a decision to trigger a scripted port strike mission that simulates the actual Pearl Harbor attack, puts them at war with the US and the Allies, and gives them a temporary naval invasion bonus against the places they invaded historically. Ideally the AI would also attempt to wait until around December 1941 to do this.
      For the Americans, upon the completion of the Japanese focus, they could get an event detailing the attack and the option to acknowledge the pop up would say "A date which will live in infamy", put the base war support at like 90%, give a buff to carriers and carrier aircraft, and maybe even add a decision to start an event chain for the Doolittle Raid.
      Idk I'm just spit balling here but it could be a neat idea.

    For anyone who wants an even better focus Order:
    New Deal -> WPA -> Agriculture Act -> War Department -> Neutrality Act -> Selective Training Act -> Fair Labour Standarts Act -> Arsenal of Democracy -> Giant Wakes -> (Anything) -> Federal Housing Act
    There are a few things to note:
    1. Only putting 3 focuses between the once that get rid of the great depression means you'll have 2 periods of 10 days where you aren't doing any focus beyond the focus progress you can stockpile, as a result of the 230 day waiting period.
    2. This order puts Selective Training Act as the first focus after the 1936 election. This makes it increadibly diffiult to get the representatives required. You'll need to time the farm subsidies and medium lobbying effort such that you can finish the farming subsidies once, and the medium lobbying effort twice in the time between the election and taking the focus. You can also build a Military factory in north carolina and just barely not finish it, such that when you get the quest, you can nearly instantly finish it.
    But overall this get rid of the great depression 120 days sooner, and the isolation economy law 200 days sooner.

    The war support from pride of the fleet and the base war support from selective training act do not interact when under 10% war support. The USA starts with 0% base war support and doing selective training act when below 10% war support sets it to 10%. I've owned hoi4 for years and played it on and off, but the game never 'clicked' until I saw your ultimate germany video. The vast amount of tutorials out there will tell you *what* everything is, but not *how* to use everything. Not to mention I seemed to have to relearn the game from scratch every time there was a new major patch. Learning hoi4 can feel like being given a shovel and told to use it, so you begin to dig, but then the game slaps you because you were meant to use the shovel as a blunt weapon.
    So I want to say thank you for these videos and I hope you do more. Would be very interesting to see some of the alt-history paths for these nations, or some truly meme-y stuff to really show off how much the game can be broken. One video I'd also love to see is the best ways to crack a tough defence, for those situations where a newer player can't seem get any green bubbles during an attempted offensive.

    I found that you can get cores on all of Austria-Hungary as Poland. First, you let Czechoslovakia form Austria-Hungary, and then you can unify with them through the Habsburg Path. This is quite difficult to pull off because Czechoslovakia needs to be fully independent to form Austria-Hungary. One method I found was to annex all of the territory required to form Austria-Hungary. After going to war with and letting Czechoslovakia occupy the territory required to form the nation, you can then puppet them in the peace conference. You can then unify with them once you unite with Bohemia through the focus tree. That is how to get cores on all of Austria-Hungary as Poland.

    Something to not but the selective training act is stronger is you have above 10% war support as instead of setting war support to 10 it will add 10, so I believe the pride of the fleet exploit you explained isn’t necessary and intact only weakens you in the long run

    • @kvlt1349
      @kvlt1349 Před rokem +6

      no it doesn't. if you have above 10% it provides no additional war support.
      however @Bitt3rSteel is playing unnecessary games with his war support. base war support and modified war support are not the same. as long as you have less than 10% modified war support, STA sets your base war support to 10%. so you do not need to unpride your potf to get an "extra" 5% ws. it doesnt work like that. the 5% from potf is modified above the base. it is not counted in the base. USA starts with 0% base war support. as long as your modified war support is 9.9% or below, while having gained no base war support (ie you did no war propaganda or whatever), you will always get a 10% spike in war support.

Just give it highest lvl 2 engine, fill it with heavy machines guns, self sealing fuel tanks and as many armour plates as you can. They are extremely expensive but they will not die. I've done it playing on historical, regular against fully strengthened axis, and by the end of ww2 (was 1945) i shot down over 30k plans and lost less than 1k. The only problem is that you can start to produce them only by 1939/40 and you will probably have less than 500 when u join the war, but the attrition war WILL be in your favour. (I've used them in europe specifically but if you remove one armour plate and add extra fuel it will work for the pacific too, even if it will have a little less defence so you will likely take a little more losses against japan)

    I always wondered why most people tend to select dispersed industry over concentrated industry and I was curious as to why? I remember Feedback saying it was better for expansion, but you aren't expanding as the U.S. and the extra growth isn't as important as Bittersteel said that he wasn't going to be rushing arty or planes. So why does dispersed seem to be preferred over concentrated? I always reach the max cap for the next gun or arty when I play before I get the new model, there's bonus production and when you research the max tech you can make more of it faster. Also as I'm at it what conveyer belt is the best and why?

    • @CirBam24
      @CirBam24 Před rokem +26

      Dispersed also provides dockyard output which is good for any navy build you do. It also reduces the amount of damage your factories take from bombing.

    • @Dinawartotem
      @Dinawartotem Před rokem +41

      It's got to do with the production retention rate. Concentrated is better for producing bulk equipment like infantry equipment, but as you are constantly researching upgrades to these assets it will take too long for those upgrades to benefit from the additional productivity of concentrated industry line because you need to spend months working your way back up to the productivity you had before you see any benefit from concentrated.

      I feel it is very usefull when you are constantly improving your technologies because you can produce the new stuff more quickly. If you have no airforce it is also quite good to stop the enemy strategic bombing (in my experience it is not a big threat). But sure, if you play soviet style just producing a lot of old guns to field the biggest army possible, then concentrated is indeed way better. Honestly going either concentrated or dispersed is not that important, just follow your hearth where it takes you.

    the way to use selective training act for rushing giant wakes is first to rush neutrality act (after agri adjustment act) and only then do selective training since neutrality act reduces (base) war support but you can't go below 0% so doing it before selective training is the way. after you send a attaché to china and when the japanese generate some more tension you can do gaint wakes by 1937 or early 1938 if you took your time and did some other stuff. also no need to unselect a pride of the fleet, it's a complete waste of PP.

    I do like a communist USA game though, and being able to send air volunteers is great

    The P-47 Thunderbolt, the 1940 level of heavy fighter, was used very little in the Pacific theater of the war. Compared to Japan's planes, they were way too slow, bulky, and clumsy, and they didn't have great overseas range. My town built them as well as LSTs (Landing Ship Tankers) and it is very neat to see them represented in the game, even if the LST is hidden behind a generic research name and icon. We even have a flight capable P-47 and a working LST in town.
    A little bit more history, the LSTs were crucial for the D-Day invasions, carrying tanks and other equipment and machinery that was needed. It served as the LCVP (also known as the Higgins Boat) for those items I mentioned above. The P-47, while it had less confirmed air-to-air kills than the P-51 Mustang, it likely killed much more due to its bombing capabilities and if the two ever got into a dogfight, the P-47 would *likely* come out on top despite the P-51's faster speed, and longer range because it would likely empty its rounds into the P-47 but the P-47 would sustain all those hits. A P-47 was once hit by many hundreds of rounds of German fire, but the German did run out of ammunition and was forced to let the pilot go and even saluted him by rocking his wings.
