I got one a few months ago and finally got it set up today - I'm impressed at how much it can do
Had to lough my ass off at the size comparison 😂 your reviews are so entertaining (very unique). Thumbs up from me!
Thankyou :-) This time we kept it relevant for the younger audience by introducing a Nintendo Switch.
Thank you for the Acemagic news. Something everyone should look into as soon as possible.
The whole Acemagic thing is a bit of a tragedy tbh. It's put a black mark not only on their own company, but the whole industry when it comes to cheap mini pcs. ... Guess what we're reviewing next? 😸
I'm doing emulation of Switch, PS3 and WiiU and below on a 5560U so I'd expect the machine in this video to kick butt in that department
These minis are getting hard to ignore, performance-wise but some brands are starting to implement some lowkey spying.
That login and network step is a little too suspicious in light of the AceMagic malware scandal. It's like "Before you can scan your PC, please help our stealth version of AnyDesk! What's your WiFi credentials again?"
But is this something that Microsoft is pushing? I know ms aren't really strangers to being anti consumer, especially in the last few years.
Nice review Tim, can't but support you 100% on your stance on the OS, the monster that is MS needs a leash on it. Being unable to scan the machine without logging on is just dangerous..
Yup. I've been given instructions on how to skip it but even so the average buyer would be clueless that it can be done.
We should be choosing to opt in rather than grinding to opt out of sharing our data.
I have the 5700u and it plays ps3 full speed using the most recent version of the ps3 emulator. This 5800h is more powerful and is probably a great place to enter the mini pc world
Yeah. The 5700u is a great piece of kit that it's easy to recommend, especially for emulsion fans :-)
What games have you been playing?
@@TeamPandory been playing my 300 game launchbox light gun build on it for the past few weeks. It runs about 90 percent of the titles that a gtx 1650 will run
@@arcaderacer586 Nice! Guessing you have it tricked out with an assortment of Teknoparrot games?
You know I'd love to give that driving x shooting game another real go... What was the name, Lucky and Wild?
@@TeamPandory I have every TP gun game on the build that was originally a arcade shooter…. Most of them run ok with the exception of a few that arent fully compatible with amd gpu’s I dont have lucky and wild but I will see about adding it. You should check out kriscoolmods retrobeast 2tb light gun build man. Its stacked. Reach out to him,he is sponsering many tubers with a drive right now. I wouod say you have well enough subs to get one
what about switch?
The Microsoft setup requirements are always going to be tough for OEMs. A default install of Windows requires you to login in, so any local login is always going to look like a dodgy Windows account.
There is a workaround to set up a local account, but Microsoft ought to build a security check into initial setup routines, before it asks for personal data. At least if you already have a Microsoft account you don't have to put in a password to login because it goes through MFA. Not much protection, of course
I think the next logical step is to go the Linux route :-)
@@TeamPandory Rabbit hole alert!
8:55 😆😆😆😆
Notpokemon! 😂
Does it come pre-installed with a virus too steal your passwords and credit card info like Acemagic's mini pc's?
No. No malware / viri on this machine.
'This product is currently out of stock and unavailable'. A common message in the good old U of K when it comes to GEEKOM.
And from what another reviewer has recently stated, they seem not to like completely honest reviews, with constructive criticism, delaying some reviewers until the fan boys have reaped praise. Not a good look for them.
As far as the hardware is concerned though, not too bad at all all things considered.
Apparently there's a shipment due in the next few days.
Unsure about the whole criticism thing, but it's pretty obvious noone wants to have any crits on their products, especially when they're a smaller company.
Saying that we've not pulled anything and put up the video without any vetting or input from them... It's a good machine, very solid, but the fan is a little loud.
I wish I could afford it
Do you think this could handle console streaming? Nothing fancy: A camera, the game (captured from a PS4) and some alerts. Looking out for cheap options for my younger brother who's into that world.
It should be okay, but if you're using one for video it may be better to get a 6000 series of Ryzen or higher.
They have av1, faster memory, and will generally be better for that.
We have a video in the works now that should help you out. Should be up by tomorrow 😅
@@TeamPandory My parents don't wanna buy my little brother a "full-fledged" PC yet so I turned my eyes into the Mini PCs to try to support his hobby/desire. This A5 currently sits at $379 which I can afford so that's why I'm asking. Thanks for your reply!
@@estebangardila yeah, I got it. 👍
I got one of these with one of those KinHank 3 TB hard drives but I can not get anything, including NES games to play smoothly. Any ideas what could be happenings?
@@johnhanes3450 if it's a batocera usb drive, I'd suggest trying another usb port.
@@TeamPandory it is retrobat and launchbox.
Sir, I wanna to ask, how do I enter the BIOS, what do I have to press, sir? Thanks
Easiest way on most of these computers, is to go into the search bar at the bottom of Windows, then type in startup, then click on ADVANCED STARTUP OPTIONS, then click the option of *restart now* under "advanced startup" . Soon as it restarts, navigate the menu to find the one that states "enter UEFI settings" or something like that.
Hope that helps 🙂
hello i have a question do u think minecraft bedrock will run on this?
Yeah, it'll run.
@@TeamPandory ty
Thanks for dota😂❤
For the price I think the GMKtech K2 with the Ryzen 7735 HS is a much better deal. Although we are definitely going in an exciting direction with these.
The K2 definitely has a better GPU, but if you need storage options and don't need to push games, the Geekom A5 isn't a bad choice at all.
GMKTEC did really good with their last round of minipcs tbh.
What I'd like to see is each of these companies pushing improvements, it may be difficult when we're getting comments like "We need cheaper", as this gives incentive to cut corners with development, testing, and worst of all, cheaper components.
Can it handle photoshop well?
Yes. Photoshop runs well.
USB 1? Not even USB 1.1? I guess they really don't like when people ask for USB 4.0.
just to clarify because I forgot, when you say for example 1080p low and you show 64% full, you mean 691p?
HA! I loved the zoom in the...crowns.
Surely there must be an easy way to enter Windows with an offline account. I have seen people mention it before.
Good system, no question about it, not perfect, but very good.
BTW, the geekom links don't work.
I wonder how good it would be in video editing.
Thanks for another good video.
Give me a few minutes to fix them. I have some coupons too 😺
Ok, the links should be fixed, and I also added information regarding a coupon code. Thanks for the heads up! 😎
Regarding the USB-C (as USB1??) - I'm pretty sure it's a typo. You gotta be psycho to use USB1 speeds in 2024.
@@TeamPandory You are welcome. Unfortunately I am poor so I can't afford anything, but I am sure some will be able to do so. Thanks for the thought either way.
@@TeamPandory USB 1.0 was almost enough to make you not want anything to do with USB. I know it made me feel this way back in the day. Thankfully it didn't take too long for 1.1 to appear. Speaking of which, I wonder if Windows 10/11 support USB 1.1 devices. Then again, where one would even find such. NVM. Have a nice day.
Its totally Microsoft pushing the online account being required when setting up Win 11. Get a Win 11 install direct from MS and it does the same thing. Any OOBE for Win 11 that allows you to bypass the online account creation by using a local account would be a red flag that the Win 11 install is a hacked version not genuine from MS. As you said when in doubt boot up a Win 11 install USB and wipe the drive and install your own copy from a trusted source.
I would call $450 cheap also if I was handed a free one.
Check the Geekom HP link, currently $399, use the coupon, $20 off. $379.
For what it is, the price is quite reasonable, especially once comparing to the competition.
$399 @Amazon
when u buy a mini pc all the games are already install and all u have to do is plug in and play
? No. It comes only with the Operating system installed. The games we added ourselves to see how well they play.
Thanks
Cheap !!!!!,
You are taking the piss 😂
At 600$ Minisforum mini PC with arc 730M gpu IS way BETTER THAN THIS it has a rtx 4050 laptop level GPU
Be careful of the often malicious software hidden on some of these cheap chinese devices.
As they say, "One rotten apple spoils the whole barrel"- And if that were the case, you should be applying that to every computer ever manufactured. The computers in the 90s were atrocious.
While we should be wary, this malware practice was found on a computer by a different manufacturer. It's a shame others are tarnished.
This has been a thing for years, not a first occurrence. Always wipe and re-install, doesn't matter what the brand is or where it's from.
At what point did the children of today decide to start pronouncing "VESA" as "VAYSSA"? It's been pronounced like VISA since the 90s. Is this some kind of new millennial and Gen Z thing?
