This is how things happen. We just saw a perfect example of it.
I used to have a manager who told me that when they say they're not buying I was supposed to respond "Should I bring one up front for you?" I hated that guy
Scripts typically just annoy customers but the upper management always think they "cracked the code". Even outside retail. I worked security and when I answered my walkie the company that I was employed by had this obnoxious "This is Officer Lindsay at (location) plant, station one. What can I do for you?" Their thought is it would make the company that contracted us think we were super professional. But after about an hour of it I would get "This is--" and cut off by the caller "oh my God please stop....if there is an emergency, the person would already be dead by the end of your speil!" Haha

I was shy in a weird way before, I used to avoid sales advisors, sometimes even walked away if they asked if I needed help buying shoes. Just went to another store that didn't bother me then.
