    Took my CPO 2015 ultra low for same noise and transmission banging in each gear. The dealer said they did not know what a certified pre owned warranty was. This was a local dealer by my house and they didn't even care. I ended up calling dealer where I bought it from 3hrs away and they said they will take care of it. It amazing how different dealers are. Love the videos keep em coming.

      REALLY !!?!? The CPO program is a nation wide deal Harley implemented 🤦‍♂️ yes it is kinda wild how different each dealer is. At Speedway we really strive to make sure ALL our customers are treated like family. This is exactly why people use the term stealership and refuse to go back to another dealer. Thank you. I really try to make sure the everyday joe has SOLID info

    Sean, thank you for doing this video. Answered my questions and also showed me some good tips. I had thought about ordering the Hayden Tensioner but decided that in the next couple of days, when I open the primary for inspection, if everything looks good will just stay with stock parts. I have a 2018 Roadglide (107) with 61000 troublefree miles.

      @VtwinRevolution  Před 2 měsíci

      Sorry it took so long to get it out but happy I could answer your questions. So the Hayden tensioner is what I was talkin about I just could t remember the name. I can promise that your stock chain tensioner will barely look like it been used.

    You would think higher rpm would be worse on a comp instead of lugging but it is a wearable part in the first place but I tried the Darkhorse comp for twin cam and it does change throttle response are drive response it’s instant and one thing I learned in this situation your really better off with SE comp for just everyday riding because if you have runout it’s going to end badly and if you have a little now it’s just going to worse especially riding hard with the DH it’s mainly what you want and how ride

    • @VtwinRevolution
      @VtwinRevolution  Před 2 měsíci

      If you think about it, at high RPM it’s not ramping up or working like it would if you were lugging the bike, it’s having to work harder at lower RPM. Those SE comps take a ton of abuse from puttin around and you’re right for everyday riding they get the job done. And I could see one of these comps exaggerating a runout that you’re not aware you have lol

    Curious on why you prefer the pipe dope vs Teflon tape... also have you seen any issued using an impact to remove the comp bolt? Keep the videos and tips coming!!!

    • @VtwinRevolution
      @VtwinRevolution  Před 2 měsíci

      Two reasons….first gettin that stuff off is a pain when I’m cleaning the drain plug on a service and the other reason is cause I ALWAYS forget which direction to put it on so that it doesn’t wad up at the bottom lol.
      Funny you ask that, me and another tech was literally talking about this today cause my dad called and asked the same question. Does the book tell you not to use sharp blows, yes. Have I EVER seen using an impact to remove the comp bolt, no. There isn’t a tech out there that doesn’t use a gun to remove that bolt. It’s torqued to 170ftlbs. That’s a decent amount to break loose.

  • @MrUC53
    @MrUC53 Před 2 měsíci +1

    Ive always heard chatter taking off. Or a loud clunk changing gears. I noticed a weird vibration in gear. Coasting with clutch pulled in. So big i dont know if you would call it a vibration. More like a bounce. Rides fine any other time. Mine is 99-05 flh with 69k on it

    • @VtwinRevolution
      @VtwinRevolution  Před 2 měsíci

      I’ll start with the easy answer first 🤣 those 5spds were loud transmissions, they clunked at every gear change that’s normal.
      I’m not sure how recent this development is but you could have a loose comp, your flywheels could have shifted, loose primary chain. That’s a tough one without being able to ride it. Hell you could have a rock stuck between the swingarm and the trans case OR a battery bolt stuck between the primary and the frame at the passenger footboard location. Or it could be a bad front motor mount…..

      @VtwinRevolution  Před 2 měsíci

      Thank you ! At 27k you probably don’t have much to worry about….but you will know when that spring pack and comp start to get worn….that unmistakeable shudder noise at idle or as you start to take off will slowly start to appear. At that point you could look into the dark horse comp or baker comp.

    My bike went down and compensator came apart been at dealer two weeks. SMH it's on a 2015 ultra classic low. The other issues is tires are 10 yrs old and flat spots. On a CPO harley it's supposed to be 5 year or newer tire but they won't give me cpo inspection sheet. Any help would be awesome. Havent been riding in weeks damn. Lol

    • @VtwinRevolution
      @VtwinRevolution  Před měsícem

      man..... I hat to hear that !! I really do ! this is what causes people to not trust the dealership. or any dealer for that matter ! so this is all I can really give you in terms of help of info, when you bought the bike you were supposed to sign a CPO sheet it would have been a check list that the tech went through and checked off, and MAYBE a multi-point sheet then the service manager has to sign then that gets given to the finance guy. As I imagine your not happy, honestly all your proof is sitting on your bike, if your tires are 10 yrs old thats no bueno !!!! those tires SHOULD have been changed!!!!!!!!!! the only other thing I can tell you to do is call harley customer care, get them involved and you'll see how quickly things are taken care of ! hell if they're 10 yrs old I would imagine they are also below 3/32nds or near the end of their life. I really hope you get this straightened out dude !!

  • @charleswhitehurst2373

    So with changing out the compensator does it take the place of all the shims and the other peice of that makes it ingage dont know the name of it though ?

    • @VtwinRevolution
      @VtwinRevolution  Před 2 měsíci

      So depending on if it’s a dark horse like I installed or the baker comp setup, yes it replaces the spring pack and ramp assembly. Those style of comps are completed units

    In all honesty is it ok to change primary oil every 10,000 miles per manual or is that really too long for the real world? 2012 Ultra Classic..

    • @VtwinRevolution
      @VtwinRevolution  Před 2 měsíci +1

      So me personally I do not like that interval….i feel like it’s way too long especially for what’s going on inside there.

    • @travstout
      @travstout Před 2 měsíci +1

      I use bell ray in all 3 holes. I change my oil and primary every 3000, and my transmission every other oil change. That might be a little bit of overkill but I feel like it's good insurance.

    • @VtwinRevolution
      @VtwinRevolution  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I do the EXACT same thing !!

  • @PotatoeJoe69
    @PotatoeJoe69 Před 2 měsíci +1

    Yeah lugging is bas for your primary and everything else - ACTUAL lugging, which is that spot right before stalling where its going CHUG CHUG CHUG and making all kinds of horrible racket and bucking the bike. Thats lugging.
    On the ither side, you DO NOT want to keep these Harkeys at high RPM's. They're extremely long stroke motors with a lot of very unbalanced rotating mass. Long stroke neans high piston velocity for a given RPM, which means faster wear. That's why Diesel engines redline at like 3,500rpm. Same mechanical concept.

    • @VtwinRevolution
      @VtwinRevolution  Před 2 měsíci +1
