Requesting that you follow this up with her collaboration with some of the younger singers in her concert Regine 3.0 in November, 2018 celebrating her 30th year in the music industry. Born in 1970, won an amateur singing contest on television at age 14, turned pro (signed a recording contract) at 18, she is a legend here in the Philippines.
Correction: This concert was actually held in October of 2017. And she turned pro at age 17.

Thank you for genuinely reacting to her! She's the Asia's Songbird,and you're right, she inspired many singers of today,almost all, including Morissette Amon and Katrina Velarde. You'll love also her performance of All the man that I need by Whitney Houston wearing a red dress. Thanks!! And yes, she still sings up to now at the age of 50 years old and turning 51 on April 22nd. Also,her performance of Shine in her online concert last June 2020 was a blast. She did some theatrical performances here in our country and also she was supposed to be in Broadway but declined because she didn't want to be far away from her family. Her career in Asia is really pretty big,but also didn't push through that much because of racism. She collaborated with some of the greatest and most famous artists in the world including Peabo Bryson,Brian Mcknight, the Maestro Michel Legrand, Jacky Cheung,Coco Lee, Mandy Moore and many others. Her biggest idol is Barbra Streisand. Her father trained her submerged in the sea, neck deep,while singing. Belting for her is like yawning haha. Even as a Lyric Soprano/Lyric Coloratura Soprano, she doesn't face difficulty in singing lower notes. Thanks!!

Yes , you're right, she's one of Morissette's musical influences. Morissette was 3 years old when her family discovered her talent in singing when she was left alone with a karaoke machine singing Regine Velasquez song "you are my song"

This is Barbara Streisand original. Regine is the first diva of performing artist in the Philippines. Thank you for discovering Regine, I believe this is circa 90s.

Barbra Streisand didn't originally sing this song. Barbra sang a song called "What Kind of Fool" with Barry Gibb - totally different song. This was written for a musical called STOP THE WORLD - I WANT TO GET OFF that was done in the West End (1961) and on Broadway (1962). And then it was covered by many other singers over the years. However, I'm not sure how anyone can touch Regine's performance here.
She got an offer in doing broadway shows but she refuse it.. she said she dont want to sing a song again and again everyday..

Apparently, it was only the concert organizer bigwigs and Gary V that were privy to the scheme. It was a priceless moment as they have never ever sang together and hearing them sing side by side was like a mom and daughter duet

I heard she got rejected actually because when she auditioned Ms. Lea was already the Miss Saigon but went somewhere? Although Queen Regine is still a Legendary Queen and Icon to the Philippine Music Industry. In my opinion probably the whole Asia 😩
Also i think the offer she rejected was being trained in London. Because yea she didnt want to leave her family and so.
She did not received any offer at all for Miss saigon.Because she flunked/failed her audition in new york way back 2001 to begin with..the offer in london was to train her to sound like broadway-ish..but definitely not for a role in miss saigon. Get ur facts straight.

she actually is liked by Cameron Mcintosh to be in the broadway but it didn't materialize as she has lots of commitments and rather chose to be in the Philippines as she's not used stay away long from her parents, but she is still making it in the Southeast Asia or Asia and has lots of duet with foreign international singers, for me that's an achievement already other than being in the Hollywood or Broadway, to add she has a music video shot in the U.S. with David Hasselhof

Queen Regine is the gold standard. In an interview I believe she shared that she was offered to be a part of a Broadway or a West end show but declined. She said she cant sing the same songs over and over again almost everyday (exactly the same way). Also she couldnt live far away from her family for a long time. But yeah, she is still amazing. Her recent online concert surprised me. Regine sounded better than ever, if thats even possible.

I also heard some vocal coaches say that if you can see veins in the neck, but the sound they make is not strained, it just means that it's all about body fat. Skinny/fit singers have a tendency to have noticeable veins more than the others.

I honestly don’t know why people recommmebd this version. This was her 2nd day of her concert and her voice was literally gone at this point.
