    I wonder what the situation is on when OS9 hardware will be built in on the assembly lines. I want to order an iX1, but still waiting until I get a good feel for this. The roll-out of the software itself is not an issue - seems the OS8 (8.5) is very good. However, I plan to buy & keep the car for 10+ years (if whoever controls these matters agrees!)

    Hope this rather late update (July/August) solves these critical components. I have ordered a conventional X1 and this information will be important when I finally receive my car.

      @@swede-365 Instead, my ix1 was transferred to the dealer with a delivery stop that lasted over 6 weeks "vehicle is subject to a delivery stop" BMW's communication was zero. Neither the dealer nor I was proactively informed. Pretty disappointing.

    How did you find traffic signs reader?
    My car adjusts the speed limit based on the navigation data. For example, when a temporary speed limit in some road is placed, it sets the speed to that limit and shortly after returns to the limit of that road from the navigation data. So in my city, they removed the speed of 60 from a road recently and the limit is 50 like other streets. But the dash still shows 60 for that road. It is pretty confusing in these circumectances.
    Also, it is not recognizing the sign of entering to the city area, which should adjust the speed to 50. I noticed that it also has problem with adjusting the speed when the speed sign has extra information underneeth. It completely ignores those.

    Mine adaptive LEDs are ok (early production - december), you have to really focus to see them working, it's not a discoteque (working rather seamlessly).

    As a software developer, I can see that the software is in that state we call "stabilising "- it is out in the wild, but there are surprises in real world deployments... understanding how the car is set up and being used as critical here. Ideally, the car should somehow be permanently recording what is actually being seen on a drive so they can collect more real world videos of the roads the vehicles are being driving down. In this state, we often update the software on a regular basis so it is a shame they are not providing any public details about updates. If you compare with Volvo, they actually publish release notes with their big updates. EVs have a lot in common with laptops and rather than pretending that the manufacturing knows best they should be more open about things.

    • @swede-365
      @swede-365  Před rokem

      This is the problem for my dealer as BMW don’t publish any release notes for most of the upgrades. But next week BMW will collect raw data from driving and do the diagnostic online with the workshop.

  • @robstacy
    @robstacy Před rokem

    If they had to recalibrate the camera, does that mean some of the other safety systems weren’t working either?

    • @swede-365
      @swede-365  Před rokem +1

      They don’t know yet. This was new information both for my dealer and BMW. That’s why they will do a live diagnostic next week.

    • @MarSz1982
      @MarSz1982 Před rokem

      I'm observing your videos because I ordered X1 and was surprised with your observation of weak LED system. BTW - now I'm driving Audi A5 (MY2020) with full Audi Matrix LED and they work nice but unfortunately just nice - I've seen better lights operation in VW Passat. This makes me worried about X1 but I hope root cause will be identified and fixed. Going back to this question - based on some experience in automotive safety systems - and w/o knowing this particular BMW system I can guess that wrong camera callibration can potentialy lead to less or more severe issues of some system functionality. Depend on whole architecture it can result in minor functions (as you observe annoying behaviour), more risky (wrong parking assist may lead to scratches) or some key active safety features malfunction (line assist, line departure warning, pedestrian protection etc) and even fail or not proper behaviour of passive safety systems (airbags, seatbelt pretentioners, active hood lift) as in some systems cameras, radars or lidars may support in preconditioning of passive systems in case if possible crash. Base on this I would not ignore fact that camera (or cameras) is not calibrated even with assumption that what I written above is a kind of worst case scenario and in general system should have fail safe scenarios to prevent it.
