That was pretty funny. xD But yeah, I was super excited when I found out the Candle Knight was becoming playable, and then super disappointed when I realized they made her an arts guard for some reason. I was expecting her to be like Skyfire on steroids, with a final skill that slows her attack speed but expands her attack range and nukes a huge area with every strike, maybe with True Damage or something. Would have been awesome as far as an AOE caster goes. Instead, we get this confusing mess of buffs and debuffs that prioritizes enemies I wouldn't even use her against with a build like that. I hope she either gets a total overhaul that resets her to be more like her boss self, or that she gets a "Vivianna the Candle Knight" alter form that actually IS her boss self. This current Arts Guard variant is criminally underwhelming and half-baked.

agree with most things you'd said but it's not that Viviana doesn't take aspects from her boss form, but rather her boss form not using any aspects of her real abilities. She's supposed to use some kind of light and shadow arts (as seen in her fight with Nearl and in the most recent event) but her boss form has her use explosions instead
I wouldn't be surprised if HG gives Viviana one of the better modules based on the reception of her on launch in CN and her competition with Surtr. Increasing her first talent by any sizable amount would result in a significant increase of damage and tankiness. Imagine a Lvl.3 module with another 9% added on. Something else that a lot of people don't mention about her is that she's kind of perfect for literally any buff you can give her. Sail is an amazing opener/partner unit as she can help offset the atkspd debuff on S3, and her S2 can work as heal if needed. With Sails module you can also turn Vivi into a pseudo-Arts AOE guard with S2. Sails S3 Fragility can also help Vivi cut through tougher enemies faster with both S2 and S3. (I know most people consider flagbearers dead now, but still.) That said, she can tank Aak's S3 with no problem at all. Saria's S3, Gnosis S3, and Suzu all work amazingly as usual. Reedalter's S2 synergizes perfectly with Vivi as the arts fragility from Cinder is amazing, and the AOE helps Vivi not leak off-cooldown. When Iana comes to Global she'll be another really good option. Pram and Skyfire are two of the best to bring with Viviana imo. Skyfire's talent is insane for the triple hit on S3 or amping the double hits on S2. And Prams Res reduction and Fragility (and weakness) is great for every situation that Vivi would typically struggle in (like Ch.9 Refraction buff). I really like the versatility Viviana has. She's not the best at anything, but she can be pretty great at everything. Almost like she's a well-rounded unit that's unfortunately lost in a sea of massively overpowered units. The mantra is set a new standard for broken, or be forgotten. Either way, I've M6'd Vivi and enjoying her so much.

Candle Knight are the most wasted potential unit to mimick her boss form for her combat skill. I could literaly imagine her s3 skill basicaly a charge art nuker where she charge her ability for few seconds and enemies inside her charge area will get their invisible remove and when the charge is full she just nuke them and give them stun. This version we have are just feels so rushed to develop her kit.
One thing to note for lessing is that he has worse dps than no module skadi when it comes to somewhere around 1000 def, and anything below that just use yato lmao
Viviana is cool in concept, but just doesn't work in practice. Shes basically a duelist guard but for bosses, but most bosses can literally be erased from existence with (any meta dps) plus Warfarin and Suzuran, so there is basically no reason to have her.
Feels like you just really hate Viviana for some reason. Her S3 (on 2nd activation onward ofc) literally has the same output as Surtr on low res bosses/elites, as we can see in 0:59. She cant compete with Surtr still, since she lacks res ignore, multi targeting, and the ability to helidrop. But she doesnt retreat after skill. She does not have to compete with Surtr, just like... correct, 0:53. So why is she the only to be speak ill of here?

Took me 220 pulls for Arturia and I am not struggling for my life to survive the coming headliners and getting them all. My wallet will truly suffer for the first time in two years.
Viviana is better than Sutr, (same damage, more reliable, don't need to know the stage beforehand), but unfortunately I don't need either for that role anymore so I was thinking of using her as a back row character to sit behind unkillable mass murderering machines like Specter Alter. She does have to compete with Mlynar though, she does less AoE but more single target damage and a MUCH lower CD.
You know, now that I think about it, even the developers prefer Arturia over Viviana, considering Arturia is the only one between them with an animated portrait (at least according to the banner). Which sucks because as characters I liked Viviana more, the idea of a swordswoman with a candle sounds nice, but I guess it is what it is

Actually, isnt Viviana being grossly underrated? imo, viviana is an arts tank, not an arts fighter. imo to use her properly: 1. use her vs elite/boss tt deals arts dmg - so take 16% less arts dmg 2. use with nightingale to give another 15 res for 30 base res (that is 30% res reduction)| 3. 84% * 0.7 = 58.8 % arts dmg taken only before skills are on 4. Only Nightingale skill is on, res becomes 45% - meaning arts dmg taken is only 46.2% 5. Only Viviana skill is on, res becomes 15 + 15 + 25 = 55 res = only 37.8% arts dmg taken 6. Both nightingale and Viviana skill is on = 82.5 res = 14.7 % arts dmg taken 7. Not to mention, nightingale s3 gives arts dodge 8. Viviana s3 shield will guard vs a hybrid boss's physical atk fully. So isnt Viviana is an incredible arts tank that will out tank mudrock and hoshiguma who cant really tank arts dmg? A.k.a. Viviana is the best arts tank in the game right now. (Not to mention her base def and skill def up results in even higher def than gavial)

Actually, isnt Viviana being grossly underrated?
imo, viviana is an arts tank, not an arts fighter.
imo to use her properly:
1. use her vs elite/boss tt deals arts dmg - so take 16% less arts dmg
2. use with nightingale to give another 15 res for 30 base res (that is 30% res reduction)|
3. 84% * 0.7 = 58.8 % arts dmg taken only before skills are on
4. Only Nightingale skill is on, res becomes 45% - meaning arts dmg taken is only 46.2%
5. Only Viviana skill is on, res becomes 15 + 15 + 25 = 55 res = only 37.8% arts dmg taken
6. Both nightingale and Viviana skill is on = 82.5 res = 14.7 % arts dmg taken
7. Not to mention, nightingale s3 gives arts dodge
8. Viviana s3 shield will guard vs a hybrid boss's physical atk fully.
So isnt Viviana is an incredible arts tank that will out tank mudrock and hoshiguma who cant really tank arts dmg? A.k.a. Viviana is the best arts tank in the game right now. (Not to mention her base def and skill def up results in even higher def than gavial)
