  • This is the way we trim our sago palms. It gives it a pineapple look and also significantly increases the time needed between seasonal trimmings.

    I am a retired pet groomer turned hobiest gardener, as I watched this video I couldn't help but think of a poodle tail and dont think id be able to resist not trimming the top part into a poofy ball. 💙 We will have to see how my palm tree comes out..... To be continued... Lol. Thanks for helping me with my plan for it.

    I trimmed my neighbor's because her lawn service wouldn't touch them. It's hard work! I tried finding a yard service to trim them but nobody will around here in western Georgia. So my 87 year old neighbor goes out early in the morning to trim a little each day

      NO!!! Please don't do that. Those crown on the bottom are the baby pups. You can pop them off with a long thin flat tool like a chisel or a screw driver, just tap it into the center of the stem of the pup and pry it off. then transplant it.
      These guys are just workers getting paid to do fast work. they don't know what they are doing. they are killing these pups by cutting through the heart. I noticed that they were taking off pups and they will probably just through them in the trash. so sad.

    • @a-veteranlandscapesitework2413
      @a-veteranlandscapesitework2413  Před 6 lety +3

      I would recommend cutting it exactly where it branches off. I don't think it will survive if replanted. I've never seen it successfully done unless they branch off near the roots and it has roots growing already.

  • @tahotoy
    @tahotoy Před 5 lety +2

    The chainsaw looks much more convenient than the shears I use. Having said that a few gallons of gas and a lighter would be even easier and arguably more comfortable for the sagos. So much for those beautiful little pups. There are botanists and there are clean up crews, employers learn over time, the two are not interchangeable.

You also dont have to deal with weeds if you let it grow like this. If you cut it in half like this just keep it in a pot instead of planting it somewhere in a garden where it meight disturb you when it gets the shape and form its supposed to have. Im a gardener myselfe and see so many missplanted trees and palms its sad to watch them get cut or dieing
