Within a month they were on the road to Portugal to find the perfect piece of land to call their new home. We picked up Albi the cat along the way. "Flooding problem" Well flooding isn't always a problem, it can bring nutriens from upstream to the land and letting it soak in = less dry during the summer etc. of course adding a pond to store even more water would be awesome. having lived on a property where part of the land was flooded every winter along a stream makes you appreciate this... on the wet summers it is soggy but on the driest of driest summers is where land like this shines and gives you the most amazing grass for hay and grazing (or other crops) but most often such areas are used for grazing and in the really dry years it can give like 3x more than the dry areas give on normal summers.

You can buy paint with an anti-mould solution in it. Also, to get rid of mould, you can use white vinegar.

It's unbelievable how much water you have in your well.

Mould- best ever solution.
Oil of cloves 8-10 drops in 500ml bottle of water. Spray on and leave overnight. Repeat if needed. DO NOT wipers it only spreads the spores.
Use in runners etc as well
It’s kept mould away fir me fir over 5 years as I left a final layer of spray to dry off.
It’s wonderful to see the water and the green again. White vinegar is your friend for cleaning and disinfecting. I’ve used it for years. Spray bottle with some water to dilute. I love seeing the water and the green come back. Merry merry Christmas! Thank you for your videos.

I would extend the roof to create a lean too between the gable end and the well. Either closed in as an extra room, or open as a outdoor canopy, or even stretching right out over the well as a covered courtyard garden.
She is so loyal! She keeps us safe 😅 well.. she thinks she does. Diogo is a very good guard dog! He was shouting at the hunters this morning!

re the leak next to the roof/building next door, I'd add an overhang so that the rain would fall further over the kitchen roof and keep water off the joint? Love your dogs, they're so sweet. I smiled at your mini Christmas tree, so creative! Merry Christmas to you both and the animals xx

Vinegar is better for fighting indoor mold. ❤❤
If you clean that mould area with a mild bleach solution and dry it completely, if you then paint it with an oil based primer or undercoat you should have no trouble with the normal wall paint . You may find if you had a small extracter fan that would help as well, and did you know that callor gas cookers cause condensation that then begets mould , but the main thing is ventilation ,, hope this may be helpful,,,,, cheers like the vids John

White vinegar to start, then spray with either. colloidal silver or copper. H202 also great. No need whatsoever for nasty chemicals in your lovely little space -- safe for you, pets and ground water. :)

Please be careful with the mold and look into preventing it entirely as it can cause serious health problems. I live in a very wet climate, a temperate rainforest on the US Pacific coast. My house is 120 years old and cottage size. It’s a very dry house. No mold. I watch a few Portuguese based vlogs and you are correct about the moisture issues. However, I’ve learned that this is attributable to the construction and not so much the weather. From one quite experienced Brit/Aussie couple I’ve learned that older Portuguese homes have poor drainage because it just hasn’t been well thought out and constructed. They’ve been pretty much redesigning and rebuilding their house from below ground on up so it will be dry and eliminate the dampness.

Perhaps a small dehumidifier for the wetter months. I remember them well when I lived there.
\carissa to put a screw in at an angle just go in as normal for about 10mm then stop take the drill bit back out and then go in again at the angle you want the screw to go down at.its really quite simple.

Hope you have a top Xmas it’s Xmas morning in oz and overcast had light rain yesterday after a few days of 23 in southern Tasmania it feels 35 degrees Celsius only had 10 sunny days since 1/9/22 all over the shop, heat wave on mainland for a few days the same as your last summer then huge wet trough from a cyclone around Darwin coming to our inland & east coast, nice for cooking traditional lunch 19 degrees have a lovely Xmas and all the very best for 2023 love from downunder 🦌☃️🎄🎅🏻🤶🏻👍❤️❤️❤️🙏

Tri Nature brand Spaghnum Moss plant based hospital grade disinfectant is excellent mould killer, especially the air born spores with a very fine mist spritzer bottle. It smells lovely and is a pleasure to clean with. Australian made don’t know if you can get it over your way.

don't use silicone to try and fix out door leaks if anything use Mastik...but better still cement render it go up at least 4 inches and make it around 15 mm thick.
