Pretty sure Charon is supposed to represent, you know, Charon. The ferryman you give a coin and takes you to the underworld
Duh lol
@@badgirlhollywood9741 By that logic, the owner of the hotel is surely Hades, or *maybe* Chronos-which likely makes the main villain Zeus.
Nah, maybe the name lines up but you're about the cleaners. Give them 1 coin for each body and them literally take away the dead
@@JB-423 Arguably, with the Continental acting as "The Underworld", with Charon admitting John entrance for another coin.
Thats super obvious, but i didnt notice it before. I knew the name charon was familiar
Marcus didn’t change his mind about killing John. He was protecting him the whole time, he shot right next to John to wake him up to fight Ms. Perkins.
And he wouldn't kill Ms. Perkins directly because it would break the Continental Rule of "No Business on Continental Ground"
My interpretation of Defoe was that he was always with John, he shot the pillow to alert John that another assassin was close
Yah, as soon as he saw that there was a contract on johns head, he took it so that he could protect him from other assassins.
I was about to comment this same thing until I saw this
A hyper professional
With a shot like that?
You don't just miss.
Not if he's actually trying to collect on it.
Makes me think that shooting the pillow was like making a deal with the devil

I see this video, and at the end, all I can think in my head is "So.... John Wick is Kratos?"
Ok this deserves more likes
Their Teammate Agreed
nah, kratos kills almost every god, even zeus. John never did, he's just the baba yaga
Kratos: Boy
John Wick: Good boy
@@lekhoi7912 Pretty sure that's gonna be John Wick 4
This film is a Symphony of Violence, astonishing and brilliant.
When Leguizamo tells Viggo what Josef has done, and Viggo responds with a single, “Oh.”, we now have a clear image of the deadly character of Wick. Perfection.
Oh. My. God. That line.
No one will ever win an Oscar for screenwriting thanks to two letters or a single word. But the sheer cojones to put that into a screenplay, to trust the actor, the director, and the audience to get the message across.
That's good fucking writing.
It's so good, Viggo is calm but threatening with Aurelio, but when he hears the facts he both forgets Aurelio hitting his son and knows his fucked.
@@sevach it was basically a "it was at this moment he knew HE FUCKED UP" point
@@sevach Something else I really like about Michael Nyquist's performance and the writing for Viggo is how he slowly unravels from the big bad Russian mob boss to a broken man laughing to himself about his inevitable death. CinemaWins pointed some details out in his "Everything Great About John Wick" video, but basically, he's constantly getting intoxicated in some way
-During the raid on John's house, he goes though an entire bottle of Glenlivet
-When he's discussing the contract on John with Marcus, he picks up a glass of vegetable juice but puts it back down, because why would getting in your veggies matter when you know you're likely going to die in a few days
-After giving up Iosef's location to John, he smokes a joint to numb the pain of his son's death
@@ProfDCoy And it's the physical acting that should get applause too. His entire demeanor changes after Aurelio's line, "Well...sir, because he stole John Wick's car and uhhh...he killed his dog." Viggo's entire demeanor changes, from authoritarian and in charge to what can only be described as mortal terror, instant humility, resignation, and also understanding. "Oh". The entire point of the call was Viggo asking Aurelio why he had struck his son, the King asking one of his officers why he struck the prince. But once the reason was given the officer was immediately excused. It was simple clarity. He could've easily said, "I understand...you acted appropriately of course." He could've even said, "Shit". But that wasn't necessary. He just had to say, "Oh"...and then the cherry on top, his arm dropped, and he just...let it swing. He would've had more recourse if you had told him a volcano was about to erupt beneath his house.
To be fair, I dont think Marcus had a "change of heart" as you put it. I think he accepted the contract specifically to try to protect his friend and that was the best way to do it.
Agreed. That's why he asked Vigo if the contract was open or closed. He needed to know whether he had to protect John from other hitters.
One part often overlooked in both John Wick films is that he isn't entirely merciless. Yes, if you are the target, then John is the friggin terminator, but if you are not, all you have to do is to move out of the way. Do that and he will spare you. That, along with the very relateable anger that comes from puppy murder, makes for a surprisingly likeable, well... slasher monster.
You see it with Jimmy the policeman scared shitless on Johns doorstep, he probably made sure to tell his collegues to not look into the events surrounding the noise complaint and what followed. This made sure that no innocent cops stood in Johns way. We also see it outside the nightclub where the giant bouncer wisely goes home quietly when realising who stands behind him. John Leguisamo could have been in Wicks way but chose to help him. And even at the start of the second film where John silently offers Peter Stormare a truce and Peter wisely accepts. Even in the first film. The very moment Nyqvist gives up and let's John go after the son, John immidiately drops his sights down and leaves him be, after all effort, his goal isn't Nyqvist its his son. John only resumes the hounding of the father when his friend was murdered.
It's a very long way of iterating that if you are not his target, and you're not in his way, you're perfectly safe. Normally that is a kind of dangerously psychotic way of life so I wouldn't applaud it. But considering what one must do to become a target of John Wick... Well... Frankly... You had it coming...
The only thing that I still ponder to this day is that one short scene between John and Jimmy. How did John ever impress upon a policeman in a suburban area that he was a hitman but that's cool? I'm not saying it's impossible, just that I want to know that story. Because the rest of what occurs in the movie is easily explained with "the people in that world look the other way", but Jimmy, a policeman, feels different.
It raises such interesting questions! Are they old friends? Was Jimmy involved in that world somehow? Did John befriend Jimmy at some point later on - personally or through his wife - and then gradually pass on the twin truths that 1) he was a contract killer, and 2) YOU HAVE NOTHING TO FEAR (anymore)? And as a result, is Jimmy now disappointed? Scared? Conflicted? Unsure?
I need this explained!
(And I also understand it needn't be and probably shouldn't be.)
john wick is hades his wife was persephone who had passed and his dog was cerberus and once his hound is taken from him he comes for revenge and all god’s feared and respected hades and once hades comes for you then you are already going to tartarus
Cinemawins put the interaction with the cop in a way that really made sense to me. If you see that a dragon has burned up a bunch of people that attacked him in his cave, you leave the dragon alone and be thankful he didn't burn down the whole village.
Jimmy is in on it and aware that Wick is an assassin, that's why he asks if it's about work. The assassins are above the law in this universe, since they're never ever chased by police despite their many public shenanigans.
Zinras It’s probably more like the good assassins don’t make a scene or are like John a Wick where one assumes it was gang related.
04:54 “A skin-melting penisface of toxic masculinity with debilitating daddy issues.”
Perfect description, not only of Iosef Tarasov, but also of early Theon Greyjoy.
Shitty thing to get type cast for but hey he'll always be able to find work
PreistofGHAZpork *shrugs* silver lining I guess. I mean he's really good at playing a shithead, and there's no short demand for shitheads in film and tv.
give it a few year and you'll probably be able to make a death comp of all the different shithead rolls he's played.
What is dead may never die
At least Theon was able to redeem himself for the most part. He was actually a very interesting character in GoT
Hades: just willem dafoe. Good description
If John was Thanatos the god of death it would help with the myth thoughts as all the gods respect thanatos and don't dare to attack him for what he is the God of and who his parents are, Nyx and Erebus, Nyx being the night and darkness of the world he lives in and the chaos of Erebus in all the fight scenes that John seems at home in. As well as Thanatos's parents protect him as shown in Greek myths where even zues did not dare to even think about going against Nyx to get revenge on hypnos and John is always protected by his black suits and vests.
Damn good comparison
If you look at John when framed by shadow, his beard against his skin gives an impression of a skull face, not unlike The Punisher's symbol, but all like the Grim Reaper himself. He's even friends with a guy named Charon. The Ferryman of the River Styx.
one thing I would like to add is Thanatos isn't the god of death actually, a god is someone who rules over a certain concept to explain in the simplest way while Thanatos is death itself, he don't rule over it, he is death. Which makes him that more scarier
"The main character was originally a man in his sixties"
uses a man in his fifties instead. Jeeze, holywood.
Paul Rudd and Ralph Macchio are men in their fifties, Ralph is almost 60 and i would not tell this if i passed him on the street :)
The Bath house scene when he stabs a henchman under the chin, covers his mouth to not scream and stares him directly in the eyes... Dude, that was an absolute killer! That was literary the most badass sh*t I've seen in a while! The level of no remorse, no pain, no biggie, stone cold he had to show was simply amazing!
Favorite scene in the movie right next to Perkins's execution.
The reason I love that scene is that he doesnt show rage or anger. Its professional. He even stays with the guy as he slides down, almost like hes just saying ''nothing personal man, just let go''
I recently watched another movie that involved a lot of eye to eye contact before a killing and I'm suddenly struck by the contrast.
It was about Albert Pierrepoint, tha hangman in charge of executing Nazi war criminals condemned by The British.
After the condemned were led to the gallows, as they were being prepared to drop, Pierrepoint would maintain constant eye contact with them, usually with a hand on the shoulder or their arm - not restraining them, just a human letting another human know that they were there. The eye contact was maintained, unblinking, until the hood went on, not gloating, not vengeful, not cruel, but almost merciful. "Look at me. Just look at me. Don't think, just look at me."
From entering the condemned cell to opening the trapdoor took him a maximum of 12 seconds.
He had a truly gruesome job, cleaning up some of the worst human filth that ever walked The Earth - something he obviously understood because he took his job *_seriously_* - but he still treated his charges with as much decency, dignity and humanity as possible, under the circumstances.
I dunno, watching Wick and reading this comment (as well as the many others like it) sparked the memory and, like I said, the contrast struck me.
That scene impressed me just as much as you for the record - I'm just having some deep thoughts about how fluid our modern attitudes towards violent death can be.
Feel free to ignore . . .
I saw John responding to pain. The whole film is John responding to pain. Physical pain doesn’t phase him except functionally. I mean, yeah, the look on his face in that particular scene…the outside is cold. Keanu actually does a really good job with that particular scene with conveying ambivalence in that scene. That’s how a person like John would deal with that type of pain as a result of someone inflicting something that deep. Especially having taken something from him that he can never get back from someone he loved (probably wasn’t much of that in his life) that he can never get back.
It’s as cold as it was when it was done to him. There’s plenty of emotion in it though.
Having the Monty Python dialogue there pretty much sums up how bad the perpetrators fucked up for the rest of the movie. He starts out with the douchebag at the sink, and then it escalates to that particular scene. There’s not really any others like it in terms of catharticism for John…the rest of it is just “point and click” from Point A to Point B.
Cold and remorseless? Yeah. No pain? The movie starts with showing how much John is already in. He transfers it just like everyone else does, minus the rampage.
CinemaWins sent me here. I love the sauna scene where he shoots the guy on the floor in the head and smoke comes from the head. Keanu Reeves is not only a great actor hes a great person.
LOL, I love how you made smoke coming from someones head hole make it seem like that has something to do with Reeves being an awesome person

Ive heard cinemawins guy mention this channel a few times. Cinemawins is the better channel, but this was only my first video i suppose
I love that Keanu in his training is pretty much John Wick now
Considering Keanu's actual life experiences with grief, he was perfect for the role.
glad to see Hephaestus's lesser known second job as "The guy who cleans up the crime scenes" is being spread around.
A friend of mine watched John Wick on a broken monitor- so the whole movie was in black and white. Since then he's showed it to everyone we know in black and white, as it holds up as well, if not better than the colour version.
Except you all lose all the use of color that the directors and cinematographer intentionally included.
Color theory is an important part of film appreciation.
If they want you to watch it in black and white, they'll release it in black and white.
@@CHIIIEEEEEEEEFFFFSSS audience members can watch something however they want to. We don't need permission from the filmmakers.
@@mr.fufucudlypoops8207 yep, you sure can. Just like you can print off a black and white version of Van Gogh's Starry Night. My point is that by watching it in a different format, you're taking something away from the movie, not adding to it.
If the director thought there was any benefit of watching it in black and white, they'd release a black and white version (like Mad Max Fury Road).
CHIIIEEEEEEEEFFFFSSS amen
Thats sounds stupid
I want to mix up the Gods & Goddesses represented.
Firstly, Winston as Zeus. While I can see where you're going with that, I believe he works better as Hades, the Keeper of the Underworld. Especially when you consider Charon is granting access to the club.
Marcus works amazingly as Apollo. He is continuously bathed in Golden Light, and John immediately goes to him for Guidance of what to do after Helen's funeral.
The Clean Up Crew could also represent Thanatos, the God of Death.
Edit; A couple more.
Aurelio would be perfect as Hephaestus. He builds and fixes cars, after all.
Viggo is already perfect as Ares, especially with who I believe represents John Wick.
John is represented by Zeus. In Greek Mythology, Zeus is the youngest of the 3 Brother Gods; Hades, Poseidon and Zeus, but is the most powerful. The reason I feel this works with Viggo's Ares is that based on Viggo's proclamation of John being the reason he is who he is, is very similar to a son being the man he has become due to his father. Plus, the thunderstorm in the climax, rather than showing Winston now on John's side, instead is a show of John's wrath following Viggo and ending with them both potentially being destroyed.
Team VLCN This makes sense until you look at the fact A. Zeus never cared about his wife, especially as John did B. Zeus is probably one of the least reasonable of the Olympians for many reason. Both of this issues would be fixed if we change John to Hades, I know weird choice but hear me out. Both Hades and John love their wives and in most versions they are loved back. Like John, Hades only becomes cruel when needed but when they’re pissed, all Hell breaks loose. Another similarity is both are extremely feared, the Greeks were so scared of Hades they called him Pluton to avoid saying his name.
@@mp7950 I can see that. Honestly, the only person who truly fits Zeus is Viggo.
@@mp7950 How about this; Viggo is Zeus, Iosef is Ares, and John is Chaos. Everyone else works for me. The High Table could be the Titans.
And now that Parabellum is out now. We know in John wick 4, the gods are going to overthrow the titans.
Team VLCN Different mythology altogether, but I can also see Winston as Odin, if only because I was a bit too young to see Deadwood when it was originally on, so Ian McShane is Mr. Wednesday/Odin from American Gods to me (or Mr. Bobinsky from Coraline, for the further Neil Gaiman connection).
One thing worth mentoning,Stahelski and Leitch are both huuuge fans of Michael Mann,John Woo and S.Korean action cinema.
The whole shootout in the club is a hommage to the shootout in the club,in ''Collateral'',the whole ''tactical shootout''-thing is inspired by ''Heat''.
The whole ''stylish gangsters in a criminal underworld with a code of honour'' is very reminiscented of John Woo's Hong Kong ganster epics, like ''Better Tommorrow'' or ''The Killer''.
Also,Stahelski/Leitch have said that they were ispired by ''The Man from Nowhere'' a fantastic Korean action-drama and judging by the trailer for John Wick 3,Stahelski must be a huge fan of ''The Villainess'' which is awesome, that movie kicks ass.
In an age, where Hollywood directors, have no fucking clue on how to shoot, choreograph and most importantly edit an action scene, this movie, along with ''The Raid'' and ''Mad Max:Fury Road'' was a breath of fresh air.
Sadly, the trend of overusage of shaky cam and 300 quick cuts per minute hasn't died out yet,in Hollywood.
I know it's been five years but I just wanted @FilmJoy and Mikey, specifically to know that I am STILL recommending this video (and this whole channel) to people because not only do you provide a valuable service to your audience by spreading your own joy of film, your insight, wit, and humor all ADD to others' enjoyment of the movies you review. Thank you for all you do.
I'm gonna go check my wallet & probably buy some merch to further support you all.
Think about the "be seeing you". John says it back, and he almost sounds like hes feeling some kind of remorse. and not for what hes done. For the fact that they made him do it.
This has definitely become one of my favourite series of video essays on YT. I ADORE the emphasis on exploring ideas, thematics and positives of a film, rather than Nitpick Of The Week.
Winston is (especially by 2) Hades--the God of the Underworld (Continental) and Wealth. That's why his assistant is Charon. I'll stick with Josef as Ares, but John is Nemesis--the holy terror. Note that 2 also has "a table of 12". We haven't SEEN John kill Olympus. That's in 3.
It's not a 1:1 ratio of myth (I can see the Zeus aspect ESPECIALLY in the first), but we are seeing the modern gods of Crime deal with an angel coming back from the wilds. John's going to be the ultra-violent Prometheus, calling up ragnarok.
Also, this is the best gun movie made. The checks, ammo grabs, magazines that hold the correct amount of rounds and the fact that bad guys dont die from one shot. Amazing detail that was amazingly well shot, directed, and acted. Kudos all around
You're absolutely correct -- this movie, to me, took what Bourne had started (amazingly grounded, real fights) and shoved it about 4000' under ground and walked away triumphant.
Oh man Daisy’s death is such a gut punch, just that tiny little snippet of the scene was enough to put me in the verge of tears. That layer of unimaginable grief was so grounding and unexpected. It kinda felt similar to the way Up hits you like a ton of bricks. You go in expecting something totally different because of the genre, and never expect it to really hurt you so deeply, more than even most dramas ever accomplish. Because of that alone, I appreciated the brilliance of the film, but your analysis brings in even more depth that really proves how genius it is.
This is my favorite movie analysis on this platform. No video I've ever watched, even from Filmjoy themselves doesn't match up to this. It's pure art.
You know those moments when you find a comedian or a movie or something that just really feels in tune with your sense of humor? Movies with Mikey does that for me. 🥰🥰🥰
Goddamn, just that one shot of the blood trail at 6:58 had me almost in tears again.
Have to watch this again a bunch.
PS: Love the new end bumper.

Thanks for taking the time to make these. I hope to see many more!
I swear the stunts and cinematography in these movies, not even talking about the performances are out of this world. What a good surprise! How refreshing in a genre where I thought I had seen it all!
I think I've watched these analysis videos on John Wick that you do more than the movies. All three of them have helped me to appreciate the movies a lot more than I would have without them. Thank you Mikey for doing what you do.
This was a really awesome episode, Mikey. I can't decide if my faves are the ones that make me think about movies I love in a new way, or the ones that introduce me to ones I don't. It's all so good. #ItsGoingDownForReal
My vote goes to Eternal Sunshine (though we all know it's gonna be Serenity). :D
I think my favorite part of the movie is when Viggo calls up John Leguizamo's character Aurelio at the start:
"I hear you laid hands on my son?"
"He stole John Wick's car and killed his dog."
"Ah." *click*
Awesome.
man, I gotta watch John Wick. It kinda went under the radar for me but you have shown me a hidden depth underneath that sounds super interesting.
Also Keanu Reeves himself is a remarkable personality in contrast to other actors.
Astra7525 did you ever watch it?
I keep coming back to this video over and over again, I've probably watched it 15 times. Every time I think about John Wick I find myself back here watching this and loving it all over again. Thanks for your awesome breakdowns, you da man Mikey.
Seriously terrific video. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to watch that movie quite the same way again. You have fundamentally changed that film for me. This is the first of your videos I have watched but it will not be the last
I'm a huge fan of your work as a whole. However that peace was simply gorgeous. You did a fantastic job of tying in the allusions to Greek mythology, as well as breaking down the purpose of the the purpose. Please keep it up!
Another excellent episode. Seeing John Wick in the cinema left me moved and shaken, not something I expected from a shoot 'em up action film. Thank you for digging into its hidden layers! Also, Serenity please!!!
Excellent discovery on the parallels between this and the gods of mythology. I'll definitely watch this again, and view the plot and characters through that filter. Awesome work. You're becoming my favorite reviewer for movies!
Thanks so much for making this! John Wick is one of my favorite action films in a long time. You really helped bring some light onto why that is.
These videos are getting better and better with each one! I'm seriously enjoyed an in depth positive look at movies as appose to all the channels to seems to be so gleeful in showcasing bad films.
Keep up the great work.
If I may ask, what were those red "X's" that flashed across the screen at seeningly random times?
Read this video's description; they were rendering errors, but Mikey decided to leave them in. :-)
nah
i feel like it serves some purpose but i can just about accept "a happy accident", but i would love to hear about how it happened
I think it's a reference to The Departed, where characters that are gonna die are shown with X's near them or on them.
Red Xs generally show unlicensed After Effects plugins (in this case, the fade transition), but they're usually visible throughout the entire transition in question, so my best guess is that the renderer only checked the licence after rendering the first frame of the transition.
Thanks, Mikey, for showing me that some movies that i thought were mediocre, are really layered, well constructed works of art! I have never come across a movie review channel as good as yours, with such colourful, challenging and fascinating insights! You have a fan in the Netherlands, never stop what you're doing, Mikey, you're awesome!
"You did this to you" is a phrase that has stuck in my vocab since I first heard it a handful of years ago, watching this. It's so incredibly good and :chef's kiss".
I love the fact that you called Lance Reddick a Titan, if only because he voices a character in the Destiny video game whose particular class is a Titan.

I was just thinking after your Road to Perdition review, that it and this film would work as a great double-feature.
This along with your whole playlist helped me kick heroin last nigh. Good cry and a lot of help contemplating my situation. Thank you. So much.
I come back and watch this video at least once a month because God, it is just critical perfection. The breakdown and headcanon is just next level. Keep it awesome Mikey
Eternal Sunshine!!
And as always, amazing work!! Brilliant perspective :)
Your observation of the world of the mobs and assassins as Olympus is supported in the film's text, as the concierge at The Continental is actually named Charon and he is the one to welcome John back to the Underworld.
As to the voting, this one is actually a really hard pick for me but I tend to enjoy when you dig deeper into films that seem like simple romps on the surface, so I'll pick Serenity.
This here is why i love watching Movies with Mikey.
Great work Buddy
I've just watched a bunch of your videos and you have brought something new to every single movie. Amazing. Incredible. Thank you.
This was SO excellent, as usual. I loved John Wick a ton and this just made me love it, and Keanu Reeves, even more... which I didn't think was possible. So thank you!
That being said, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is the one film I've been pining for a MwM of since the very first MwM I ever saw. I'd love to see the other two as well, but holy shit Eternal Sunshine is my favorite movie and I'd be ecstatic to see your take on it!
This is a BEAUTIFUL breakdown!
Watching this video for I think the 3rd or 4th time almost 4 years after it came out and I freakin love it. Mikey's videos are absolutely fantastic. Thanks my man.
I just stumbed across your channel, now I will spend the day binge watching all you videos.
do kiss kiss bang bang or the nice guys or just shane black please
Some sort of Shane Black compilation would be interesting. But either of those films would be fantastic.
Not The Predator tho
Eternal sunshine of spotless mind!!!!!!!
I have been a fan of yours for years but I have been going through a break up from a long relationship in easily the hard semester of college I have ever been through, and I have come to this video countless times because of how much I relate to feeling of needing to grieve but not having the time to do so. And having to push forward regardless. Thank you for your videos they have helped shape me into the man I am today.
I am binge watching your Movies with Mikey, truly amazing each one is better than the next
I never thought I would learn to appreciate a Marlin Mason song so much😂
Mikey, listen very carefully, you have to do an episode on Eternal Sunshine. I've been obsessing over this movie for the past few weeks and I would just love to hear you thoughts about it. Please, make an episode on this movie. It would be awesome.
[m] You sound very nice. I think someday, this will be a reality. Unfortunately, as voting has closed and I've already announced the next episode on Twitter (Serenity,) it will not be this time :(
Chainsawsuit Original aw, that's a bummer. Oh well... Good job on this latest episode, btw. When I first watched this movie, I thought it that, yeah, the world building and cameras work was pretty cool but that it didn't really offer anything new to the table, and then you practically blew my mind with the references to ancient gods, so yeah, I'm definitely watching John Wick a second time because of you, Mikey :)
This post is old but +1 for Eternal Sunshine. Truly a classic.

thanks for your review, I really enjoyed it! keep up the good work, I look forward to watching more of your reviews!

OH god. That's a tough choice. I'm going to have to go for Serenity though. Such a badass movie.
Please do Serenity! It's in my top 5 favorite movies of all time (LOTR, Dark Knight being the other 4)
The Matthew McConaughey film?
This is outstanding commentary and analysis.
Dude, your reviews are fantastic! I love watching your point of view. Also, whoever does your editing needs a raise.
Awesome analysis! However, when you mentioned the anti-balletic action, my mind went to A History of Violence, since that was always, to me, the antithesis of Matrix slick gunplay. Then I realized that it's an incredibly similar story to John Wick. So maybe it's like a different production of the same Greek myth. A lot of the points you presented can be applied.
Also, Serenity!
Eternal Sunshine would be great to see you cover, it's a great movie
Brilliant analysis; spectacularly done!
Really love the positivity you spread, brother
You've put up Eternal Sunshine so many times. You clearly want to do Whale Rider and yes, I've never even heard of it. And everyone will want Serenity.
I wish these were easier for you to make but its clear you put tons of time and thought into every video. I wish you could do all three (I'm sure, eventually, you will). Your Scifi triptych took a lot out of you so I imagine that's a road you're not looking to cross again any time soon.
I love your work, I love your interpretations .. so I'm going to trust your vision and vote for your own pick: Whale Rider.
I still think you should do Wall-E.
Serenity.
Serenity.
another amazing analysis!
I also love that the dog John gets at the end is actually scheduled to be put down. It's on the dog's paperwork on its cage door, and by taking the dog, John saves its life, thus completing the cycle.
Another Pitty paying for its owners stupidity.
9:46
“Hades is just Willem Dafoe”
Pretty much
Completely off topic but why do I see a red x across the screen at the 18:16 to18:17 point in the video am I crazy or dose anyone else see it
Video description says they were rendering errors. :-)
im with you dude, but there was more than one
dont believe everything you read in the papers. mikeys way to clever than to let that shit slide
there were several of them and i wondered the same thing
I am so happy that one of my sons pointed out your review of John Wick. Just watched 3 and in discussing it with said son I commented "If I compare this to a game of chess, what piece is Winston?" He got very excited (pointing out the chess board in JW3 that I had forgotten) and mentioned your reviews.
Honestly, I had not realized how much Daisy was not JUST something to love in his wife's absence, but it was a tether for John to a "normal life". He is lost as his wife was his whole reason to leave the life of a hit man.
when Adagio for strings started playing, I like that.
Eternal Sunshine please. Of course Gondry is just the Whedon of the unconscious, but Serenity never clicked with me, so I'm voting hedonically.
John Wick could represent Hades and his wife could portrey Persephone. Defoe could be Hermes, the messenger of the Gods.
This was such a fantastic high quality video. Your effort really shines. Thanks for the Video.
This movie got a like, a subscription, and a save to favorites. You did an awesome job and gave me insight on why I loved John Wick so much. Thank you.
Wait, how the hell is WHALE RIDER one of your favorite movies??????
