  • Moab, Utah is one of the premier off-road and four-wheel drive destinations. Home to many of the most well-known trails in the United States, Moab has trail types that suit all driver's wheeling desires. Most would call it an "off-roader's paradise". Long Canyon is not a trail in a Jeeper's sense but rather a dirt road that connects you back into Moab if you are out playing in the Gemini Bridges area, with your reward being the most breathtaking views that the Moab area has to offer. This trail is best done on a clear day, about an hour before sunset, to really highlight the scenery. There is a lookout point about halfway with an 800-foot vertical drop into the canyon below. Feel free to explore this area in your vehicles and capture amazing photos, but beware, this area is very dangerous and there are no second chances. Small children should be kept close as there are vertical cracks that could prove treacherous for them.

    I was just scrolling and saw Long Canyon and had to watch your video. We did Long Canyon in 2012 and again in 2015. In 2016 we did White Rim Road. If you haven't done that you might check it out. We did it in one day and I wish we had of taken two days. Moab is one our favorite places to explore. Thanks for posting.

    We like Long Canyon. Amazing how much it can vary in its roughness. The first time we came to the underpass it really amazed me. Not some place I’d want to be during a big rain...

    wow crazy how much it's changed/been graded in 2 years! I was just there this weekend and it was nothing but smooth in the switchback canyon. under the big rock was all dirt and a couple holes, didn't even know there was a slab under there haha. you can see the mechanical marks in that rock in this video though so it makes sense I guess. anyway, have fun out there!

    Did this 20 years ago. In my full sized Chevy Van. Downhill. Not too bad. A little steep in a couple of places.

    Just did this trail yesterday starting from Potash Road. Shady snow packed slick freeze/thaw uphill track !! The video is good but does not even come close to conveying the very steep slope this trail involves, almost gives the appearance its nearly level, far from actual. Was a blast, but certainly not for the faint of heart or unprepared this winter. Thanks for all of your good work.

      yeah, videos never really portray the difficulty of a trail.
      You can find that information on our website (Link in the video description) which will talk to how hard the trail is. If you don't mind, head over there and leave a trip report from your trip.

    Pucker Pass is than interesting challenge since sometimes coming from the Dead Horse point SP side can be a one way trip due to the road getting deep cuts in it . My wife and I did this in our F250 with our Lance 815 on, very tight fit.

    Were there places to overnight camp off the trail ? Just a little spot to pull over and camp for the night. We have reservations for White Rim but wanted to explore the area first . thanks!

    What if you have mechanical issues on trail? Are you shit out of luck?

      One of the many reasons you never wheel alone.

    I wanted to do this in my Subaru Crosstrek stock suspension but it will not work.Damn.

      @patrickjones8255 Před 4 lety

      Really? I know it's a bit bumpy but I would've expected a Crosstrek to be able to handle something like this alright as long as you keep an eye on your articulation.
