  • This 1995 Triumph Sprint 900 gem was abandoned in the middle of a sprag clutch replacement attempt and then stored for years before we found it. Here we take it all apart, fix it, and put it back together again.

You’re the man! I’m super impressed, nice work man!
I just bought a 1996 Triumph Trident 900. It has 14k miles and runs great.
It doesn’t need quite the same amount of restoring as this Sprint. However, I wish I had your knowledge, or someone like you to teach me through the things to check, and how to do things properly. I’ve read the manual and I have an idea on the right things to do, but I’m scared to start taking things apart. I don’t want to make a mountain out of a mole hill! But I also don’t want to spend too much at the dealer.
One thing for sure i need to remove the tank, remove the rust from the inside, and re line it. Any tips would be much appreciated!
Cheers 🍻 from Anaheim, California !

Nice find with the Trident you don't see many of those around. I have had two older bikes with bad fuel tanks the Sprint tank had an aftermarket liner that was starting to peel and separate and an older Honda tank that was rusty inside from water, in both cases I had the tanks professionally acid dipped to remove any coatings and rust then the tanks were professionally sealed and lined the downside to this is cost as both tanks needed repainting afterward. Mario did an older rusty KLR tank using muriatic acid and an off the shelf liner kit the results were not great.

The point is you could make it worse if you're not careful, Trident tanks are not that easy to replace. If you need replacement parts I'm always surprised at what is still available through the dealers, National Triumph in the UK is a good resource for used parts and www.moto-lab.com has anything you need for the carbs.

I'm doing the same thing with triumph Trident 1995. I'm new at it and was wondering where you got the shims for the valve clearances?

This is where we got them from, but you can also get them from your Triumph dealer. www.moto-lab.com/
