We're back with our longest episode of Shield Hero Cut Content yet. Because here is where the anime starts to pick up the pacing and really gloss over some major events in an attempt to cover more ground. So let's see what they skipped! This time in Episode 13 of Rising Of The Shield Hero!

Unrelated to an actual cut content, but I've been wondering. If the item Motoyasu used on Filo sealed her magical power and prevented her from transforming, shouldn't she be stuck in her Filolial form instead? After all, the human form is her transforming using magic, and her filolial form is her actual body without any transformation...

It's likely meant to lock her in her weaker Form. (Her Filotial form is much stronger than her human form.)
And considering it was Malty who gave those to him, she was likely planning on killing Filo later on while she was under the "Care" of MotoYahoo.

I called Filo's Human form her "Weaker form" for a _REASON._ I also pointed out WHY Malty did that. She wanted to kill Filo, both to make Naofumi depressed, and to strip away any means of "Distraction" to Motoyahoo worshipping the ground she walks upon.

Do you want spoilers for an explanation? Because I hate to admit it. But Aultcray is actually a damn good strategist when you get to certain parts of the series and find out his actual backstory.

-Gets immediately called out ->(assuming you are talking about the first spear vs shield hero fight) That's the problem with the daughter interfering with the duel being found out. The plan was good.
Spear hero was not supposed to remotely be able to lose that fight but he did.
-Lets three nimrods deal with the waves -> That's the rest of the heroes, he doesnt have a choice when he hates the shield. (do remember despite everything people worshiped legendary heros and they are the "only ones who can" save the world from the waves.
-Proceed to demand knowledge and servitude -> Gathering intel on how and why shield hero got so strong when the other heros lost, so he can use that information to help make other heroes stronger. Nothing wrong with that. He is exercising authority as a king, as he's always done.
-Threatens framed hero -> again exercising king authority
-worsens relationship with framed hero -> Does it even remotely make sense if he tried to better his relationship with his most hated enemy to the point of doing illogical shit?
-Doesnt realize what situation his daughter is in -> Melty or Myne? Neither have anything to do with strategy.
-Believes obvious lies -> Gullible? sure. especially towards a daughter he "thinks" is good and loves. Again nothing to do with strategy
-Gets overthrown by church -> He wasnt overthrown "yet". Again nothing to do with strategy. Especially when he is in the dark. He cannot know what he doesnt know. The only reason we know the churches plans was because the pope doesnt see a reason hiding things from people he is about to kill right after.
The king is a great strategist in terms of "war strategies". They didnt say he wasnt gullible, wasnt stupidly trusting of myne, wasnt emotionally unstable due to past trauma or some shit. He's apparently unbeatable in chess, even compared to the queen. So he is great on the battlefield, allocation of resources, formations and military tactics. Nothing you've brought up discredits him from being a "great strategist".
1) The Queen actually wins most of the time against the King in those games. He only got worst.
2) Siltvelt IS far. Its just the closest of the countries he had better chances.
3) The Magic sword that Raphtalia uses, damages the magic energy flow. For the Heroes, it is manifested as SP or mana. For the other beings, it is treated as Soul energy. So you could say that Raphtalia is damaging part of their lifeforce, or energy. Myne at that moment, wasted a lot of it creating that huge fireball. Temporary unconsciousness was right to be expected.
4) The soldiers who attacked Raphatalia after knocking out Myne, used the pretext of shouting the princess dead, were church fanatics. Most of the soldiers there were fanatics going to kill the fugitives. The Church already set up the government coup, and most of the participating fanatics knew Malty was NOT going to rule. Since everything bad happening was the Shield's fault, they were innocent of every sin they would make. More than a freebie, they would be rewarded.
5) Anime episodes nowadays try to simplify stuff and add in less episodes. Not like watching Freezer die in 5 episodes.
Just to get the confusion stopped:
Third in german isn't called "Dreitte". Japanese are really bad with english but way worse with german. The actuall pernounciation of the german word of "Third" is, "Dritte" or "Dritter" both of these words mean "THIRD" but depending on what the actual article behinde it is to descripe something, you would say for excample "Dritte Aqua Welle" or "Dritter Feuer Blast" (dritte Aqua Wave / dritter Fire Blast)
So - its really a messed up german. There you have it, folks^^
Also, before I forgot:
With the knowledge of Siltvelt or more like Trivia:
The Shield Hero is in the Eyes of the Demi-Human the TRUE Hero, while the other Heros are more like the Devils to THEM. The Shield Hero also would've been summoned to SILTVELT instead of Melromark. And the King of Melromark is a Freaking selfish BASTARD.
All the Heroes should have been summoned to DIFFERENT countreys, but King Melromark was actually Selfish enough to summon all four of them, so he has all the Heros to save his kingdome - But as it became clear, that the Shield Hero was not really needed, he summoned him anyway, because AGAIN "Scumbag" Cover from Episode 14 - 19 actually XD

Thank you, I was about to wright an explanation myself. That "Dreitte" was/is kind of annoying. But again there is no difference between male/female or plural/singular in Japanese, so I guess you could call "Dreitte" artistic freedom..? At least in that case as a spell.

The manga also reduces the climax of volume 3 a lot. I think I understand why, on the large scale of things that battle really amounts to nothing.
But it would have been nice if they adapted Melty's expresions.
I wouldn't say it amounts to nothing. It fleshes out a lot about the characters and what's going on, especially the differences between the three other heroes. Thing is, the differences between the three doesn't come up too much in what the anime will cover. It'll show up a bit towards the end of this season, the start of the second arc, then won't really matter until the third arc.
Manga skips a lot of things

@@MonkAndra I really would have preferred they made the other three heroes feel different from one another in the anime then what they were. that was really my only complaint I had as I was watching the show. the other three seemed like one mind but different bodies. I have not read light novel or the manga but I had suspected they did a better job of making the heroes individuals. I think it would have been more interesting in story if they had of animated as it was in the light novel.

Honestly, considering the massive consolidation going on, the Anime still hits pretty much all of the important points:
A) The three other Heroes showing up to confront Naofumi and "rescue" Melty
B) Finding out Melty is a powerful (for her age/Level) water-affinity Spellcaster
C) Myne using the Brainwashing Shield and other weak excuses to justify attacking her sister
D) Motoyasu's Pedo Bracelet trapping Filo and the two having their own interaction while Naofumi/Raphtalia/Melty deal with the remaining Heroes and Myne
E) Ren and Itsuki having serious doubts about what's going on and not really participating much in the battle
F) Spear Bro is an idiot
So yeah, saves time and still gets the essential points/story beats across.
Too bad they waste this saved time on a mostly pointless recap episode later on (19) and then dragging out the "Fitoria Arc" for 2 1/2 episodes for no real reason. >.
Yeah. I don't like Fitoria and find her to be a useless character. All that power and she doesn't participate in the waves.

I hope they show Naofumi actually asking for Mayne's head with vigor at the end like in the manga instead of him just taking the moral high ground. It'll defeat the purpose of all the shit he's gone through if he can't give proper voice to his rage and desire for vengeance.
Moral high ground is overrated as hell. In the light novel, Rapthalia straight up tried to murder the nobleman that tortured her (while Naofumi FULLY supported her). He didn't accidentally fall out that window, he was pushed (also him and his whip was much stronger than shown in anime).
But man... I REALLY REALLY hope they animate the next boss/wave fight well. It's about 10x more epic than this priest fight. Currently on light novel volume 8 and loving the holy hell outta this series!

he got a bit wrong, in the light novels it is fast not first because lower level spells require only short or no chants and it's dreifach or tripple not dreite

The reason why the king tried to prevent naofumi from getting to siltvelt is explained in later episodes/novel/manga
And the scene with raphtalia talking to her parents by the fireplace explains kind of why =>demi-humans respect the shield hero for the kindness he is showing to them

Please man do more of shield hero cut content and catch up to the anime already, this episode was awesome and i really want to watch your cut content more, oh and please do the rest of the uprising arc from attack on titan, i really enjoyed that as well, keep up the good work
Looking back there was a director who attempted to create an anime that each episode would be 45minutes each. His argument for this was that by doing this he was able to slow down and tell elements of the story more effectively than if he only did 25minute episodes. When the anime was released it was treated like a mistake and he was chastised for his decision. Because of the odd broadcast the show didn’t get enough people watching it.
Whereas I strongly agree with the director’s decision that this did make the series much better than it could have been, I also understand why nobody would repeat this.
However I will watch shows like Shield Hero and I seem to return to this idea that if Shiel Hero was a series that pushed each episode to be 45min each maybe this would have allowed them to feel less rushed and tell the story more effectively.
Then again maybe it would just end up the same way as Figure 17 (which I’m probably the only one who appreciates it for what it did.
From your full description of the fight that they cut out, it sounds to be like its a bit of a clusterfuck. The anime gets the points the fight was trying to convey without having a long-drawn-out battle. Also if they had the full battle here it would have felt latter that they're just repeating steps later in the anime when the Spear vs Swordfight happens.
Siltvelt is the opposite of Melromarc as they worshipped the Shield Hero only and want to take Naofumi under their country as that country is preparing to engage in war. Only the Queen is holding them back, on Melromarc in preparation to war also and preventing Naofumi reaching there for they know Naofumi will gain support and strength as they can class upgrade there. After all of this and Naofumi cleared up his name he is actually wanting to base in Siltvelt on the only the Queen will convince him and will give him his own territory. The Three Heroes will be at worst situation than Naofumi had they will be regarded to as Fake Heroes after all of this. Even the Queen will call them stupid and irresponsible while the people and countries will mock and belittle them to the point that a unit of certain countries are ready to take them down or capture them.
I had a feeling Ren wasn't supposed to actually be a part of the three stooges gang. The spear and bow sure, Myne for obvious reasons, but I always felt like Ren should've been a lot more awesome than he was depicted in the anime

That would really be an awesome fight to see. They must have simplified it to fit in 25 episodes. We have manga and light novel, but if you're like me who watched the anime beforehand then read the manga/Ln soon after, then you must have skipped also to where the anime left off.

While it’s true that the anime skimped from the LN, so did the manga as the fight happens exactly the same there. So I don’t feel cheated that much
I want to point out that in the LN they bounce between First and Fast for low level spells. Guard for instance when it is introduced in the LN they use Fast. Heal when it was introduced they used First. Its probably better to think that if the spell is being quick cast then they use Fast. Otherwise if they are going for the full cast (and thus full effect) they use the level designation. This particular casting of Zweite Aqua Shot was to introduce the fact that single target spells can be changed to be multi-target spells with the All modifier. Which is an important note for later on in the story.
All i can say is wow im lovin this series you do.
A question... What are the kind of shields that capable of affecting the shield of rage like zombie dragon shield?? I saw a glimpse of dimensional soul eater shield affecting Noufumi while using shield of rage on the previous of the next episode..
Technically it was the zombie dragon core iirc according to the light novels, not the zombie dragon shield itself.

That's only in the WN as far as I know. For the LN he's always called old man or weapon shop owner. Same case with the slave trader, he also has a name in the WN but the LN goes with slave trader.

I thought that seeing that they were Heroes, they didn't have to go through the class up thing...
German Native speaker here: the in the anime called "air strike shield" is actualy called "erste shield" which is based on the german erste-zweite-dritte; in english first-second-third (it is pronounced like er as in air, a hard st like in strong, and the e on the is end is always verbelised and sounds a bit like an a as in pale)
I don't know why and maybe it's different in the light-novle, but it changes during the translation of the manga. I don't know whether there are both, the erste shield and the air strike shield.

Knowing this now, I'm kind of glad I stuck with the anime rather than the manga/light novel. Sure things were rushed but the way it was presented was simpler and made a bit more sense. The only nitpick with the anime from this episode was the little animation error where Filo's leg didn't have the artifact, 22:33 in case you wanted to see that. Otherwise I'd say the anime thus far hasn't been too complicated (considering my vast knowledge of JRPGS) and otherwise an enjoyable time unless you have a disdain for 3DCG or take the idea of tropes being a bad thing too literally. In any case it is about how you use them to construct the story and not the other way around. Same goes for spoilers, they are a mere destination and does not tell the journey, which is the main incentive to watch. It also doesn't help that idiots who haven't watched the show only criticize the game for its destination and not where nor how it got there.

I’m so glad they didn’t censor the pope’s death, was worried they’d change it like they did for Idol. My only complaint is the pacing, how are they gonna do Cal mira in 4 episodes?? The pacing of the anime has seemingly gone downhill since episode 14. If they’re going like this for the good stuff, how are they gonna handle boring LN’s like 8-12?

Was there in manga or novel, explained the "situation" with herose summoning? We were told, that they should be summoned one to every country, but this country cheated and summon 4, but wanted 3, and it was after first wave, I would understan if they cheated and get all of heroes first, before first wave, but dont get why it is after. - unlease, the first heroes died in first wave or were killed by King.
Sorry if I get it wrong, but it can be because translation, like in 35:04 min of anime King says "... you're still a hero, one of the only beings who can fight the Waves", yet heroes have party members, who are teleported with them to Waves, and ordinary weapon, like Raftalia sword, can kill monsters from waves, and leater soldiers and civilians can fight waves to, without any special heroes blessing or special weapons.

I almost dont wanna watch this episode for all the content i could read my self but like i guess the episodes after already ruin the story so you sir are the only way i can truly understand shield hero so i will carry on with this episode

Now that I'm hearing it, wow they really could've expanded that fight.
And the over simplify Naofumi's thinking so much. He's attentive to every single detail every, but the anime just like "That place has lots defence, oh well let's go to the queen now." I really wish future episodes put more into his thinking process.
The adaption is on par with the manga.
But I can't understand why they removed the kiss between Naofumi and Raphtalia

I've been holding off on watching Shieldbro because I wanted to watch it all in only a couple of sittings, it's always sad knowing that an anime doesn't have the time to give all the details, but it is great to see the way the action takes place. I just can't wait to see Glass, she is undeniably the best girl and I hope that we get multiple seasons so that we can see her later on in the story as well. Also nice video!
The explanation for magic is slightly off. Fast and First are not the same thing. Fast is the lowest tier, First is a tier above that, Zweit is next and Drifa/Dreite is beyond that, but it's not the top tier by any means. Characters started off using fast spells, but then moved onto first tier spells.
The Fast/First/Zweit/Drifa tiers have not much to do with the spell itself. Yes, there are higher level spells, but the tier just denotes the strength of the spell itself. If you want a spell to be fast to cast but not super powerful, you can use the 'fast' tier, e.g. Fast Heal, Fast Hiding, Fast Tornado. But you can also use Zweit Heal, Zweit Hiding, Zweit Tornado, except it will take longer to cast but be more powerful.
Later on you get into some crazy tiers like Liberation and beyond.
So the tiers are mostly sorted into Weak/Simple/Medium/Strong/Epic/Legendary/Etc. and do not have much to do with the spell itself, but simply how powerful and difficult to cast it is.

Wow I can't believe they cut that much out of the anime that could have been at least four or five episodes were fighting cuz right now I dropped off on 18 and now they're taking some time to make some more when they clearly have more material that would have cluded that whole epic fight but you know animation cost more than making s*** on a manga cuz then there was an anime all those movements make all those epic music theme songs you already know Pay the voice actors photos extra scenes in the end it all comes down to money the money wasn't a problem I'm pretty sure they would have put it in the anime because - that's sounds 🔥🔥 🔥🔥 🔥💯👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

23:59 Really it's hard to figure out what the king was worried about. Ya it's not like Naofumi could of have the whole army of sheildfree as part of his team and lead them into battle agaist the king while also raising an army of peasants against him due to him not caring about their lives the way a good king should.
Is so sad that the anime is limited to the 24 episodes and get MORE shortened
