Larry should be ranked number 1 as jazz guitarist because he's actually done more than the others.

Each of the Fourplay's musicians is a show in itself. In addition, it was impressive to see how Mr. Loeb fit into Fourplay as if he had always been there. R.I.P.
I love this song, Chant. There's a video that is awesome. I've listened to it many many times. I can just see myself at this Jazz Festival enjoying the breeze, music, food, and people. Wonderful Wonderful.

The deliciousness of each member of the band individually is out of this world but together .... wow ! Nathan is such a joy to listen to ; Harvey is a master ; Larry is taste personified & Bob James is stunning ... the version of 101 Eastbound here ... well ....

I've been watching this video for 5 years and I still love it.
The ultimate combination of famous artists and powerful music and sound systems that have been rehearsed for a long time.
I always appreciate when a guitarist actually plays a blues solo amongst jazz players. Sometimes we get peer pressured into toning it down and not bending notes only to watch a tenor sax do exactly what they just told us not to do...Nope not here lol. You play a blues you play a BLUES solo like this man right here did. What a set!
Larry Carlton off the scale, played with everyone, sight reading music charts, makes it look easy a true guitarists guitarist.
That's very true. He's also a master at playing real Jazz. I enjoyed watching him perform with Les Paul, and I love his last version of Misty with Joey DeFrancessco.
Larry outplays everybody, always finds the best notes in a tune. King of 335 sound. He made Steely Dan’s best sounds.
Check out his first solo in Chant, super powerful and tasty!

This is by far the fest best footage of fourplays!!! specially at Newport jazz festival the perfect surroundings the perfect stage saw these guys in Chicago on short notice of the gig...in a small jazz club back in 2000 fantastic!!.. got to meet the boys it was great!!

Larry is AMAZING all along.. playing such sharp and high tune so acurately..not only one single false note...how is it possible... Amazing ....!!!!!! All of the members are just the finest you could listen on this earth.
At 50.00 suggests that Lairy Carlton is still very much a blues man at heart.
This music has been my inspiration since I learned to play piano at nine years old. Thank you Bob James for the love I have felt to share with the world.

God I love Larry. I think he was the best guitarist for them. His understated style is just elegant and beautiful. I love Lee and Chuck though also!

Amazing Artists and cohesion! The sound is almost identical to the Studio recordings, eee Gods! This whole production and venue come together in lifelong memories and resolve.

My Self and Jackie Santos , who is now a drum teacher at Berklee College of music and a good friend of Harvey Mason ,listened to the whole gig right on the stage left of Harvey. Damn one of the best musical moments of my life. Through the years i've seen at the jazz festival too many greats to mention. in my home i have the first program from 1954. A treasure.
This is a great line of musicians, Larry masters music in most areas, Bob James is an icon with his own merits!
All sounds great on my system. Been to this venue many times... front row, middle, back, edges.... the sound is great live.... Wynton Marsalis and his Lincoln orchestra was a killer on both Friday night at the T. Hall of fame and also Saturday... Having grown up in Cranston, Rl, we are blessed with such a venue and George Wein's vision... Bring more acts like this... perhaps Jeff Beck and Jan Hammer doing some old time jazz numbers and some fusion??? Pass it on and enjoy...
The thirst to "just jam" is strong here. Just music. No pretence. No engineered "recipe". No marketing.

Stumbled upon their Elixir album a friend of man had back in the day. Been a fan since. I wanna see them live! Love there work and their music saved my life!! Use to listen to them when I was deployed and it always brought me back to a positive mindstate.
Windy days like that are a nightmare if you´re reading on the stand and playing outdoors!

Great! A little touch of Echo on the Mic's wld go along ways on Outdoor Concerts.
You’re right of course, but unless the group specifies it in their contract, the sound company might not include a delay or reverb unit in the outboard rack for the house mixer. Also, you’re hearing a dry board mix here. There would have been some natural delay in the outdoor venue’s live acoustics.
Even if a delay/reverb unit was available, the house mix engineer would have had to be smart enough to use it. Ditto that if the band brought their own mix engineer.
