    What I found the hardest was the fear of my partner never returning home. It takes time to learn how to support them when they could be going to their death but you need to do it. Remember that your husband/ wife is already worried and probably scared when going to fight and you must give them courage, strength. Share your thoughts but don't make them feel worse or choose between you and serving their country.

    Ive known my boyfriend since high school, after we graduated we spent around 2 years without talking and he joined the navy during that time. We eventually started talking again and when he asked me to be his girlfriend I didn’t think it was going to be that hard being with somebody in the military. I’ve gotten through a few underways and a deployment is coming up...like you have said before, it is difficult and we do get lonely. Being in a long distance relationship and having him in the military has been the hardest thing in my life but I wouldn’t change it for the world, I love him so much and I pray for his safety every night. Thank you Britt and Con for motivating me and making me smile with every video that you make. ♥️

    I’ve been dating my Marine for 6 months now and I’m going to be the one to leave first, for medical school. We’re setting up for a long distance relationship for 2-4 years (at least). It’s hard because it’s my first relationship and the uncertainty is difficult for someone like me, who plans everything out, to deal with. He may also be getting deployed soon, and I’m worried about missing him too hard because we talk every day. But in the end, I know I love him and it’s worth dealing with these hardships to be with him.

    I love this video Brit, you are amazing! My sweet boy is in bootcamp right now and I miss him like crazy and these videos help so much. I just want to add to the "get a degree" portion. I think more importantly is to still "follow your dreams" even while being away from your partner. That doesn't always mean a degree but definitely still follow your own dreams, aspirations, and goals when things seem incredibly hard! ❤️

    Hello! I just came across your video in search for advice for military lifestyle. Right now, my boyfriend of two years and I are currently in transition for him to join the Marines. This has been the most terrifying thing for me. I honestly don’t know what to expect or even think sometimes. He is a worship pastor and we are both involved in ministry. I have finally gotten to the point of where I feel prepared to do ministry, but now I feel like God is throwing a whole different type of curve ball my way.
    I guess what I am trying to say is thank you. I know that I am to support, love and encourage him through this entire experience. I am just so scared, but I love this ministry you are doing through CZcams! I feel as though this is a gift and opportunity rather than a punishment.
    God has a reason and purpose for what He calls us to do; we are simply called to obey and love Him through it all. My prayer request is that God will continuously put peace and encouragement in my path as we take on this new part in our lives!

I know I won't be okay when he leaves, but I'm so proud of just being able to watch him grow into the amazing young man he's become/becoming. He's also taken an interest in reading the Bible, and when he first told me that last week, i was super happy that the Lord is working in my best friend, even if it's slowly but surely. Thank you so much again for this video, your advice is super helpful and I will use what i can in my friendship to support my friend. I started date a military guy and we are already so inlove, I love him with all my heart and I know he does too, he textme and call me every day but not for many hours, I am ok with that. Right now he is in a training for 6 weeks in california without any communication and that is killing me. I have 3 kids from my previous marriage (by the way I am older that him) and even been happy and doing all my job at home is so hard, I am constantly crying missing him so much. When he comes back, he will stay and then leave for 9 months to Korea. I don’t know How I will handle that if this one is already killing me and make me depressed. At this point I can’t see my self without him and neither him, we have talk about getting married but we want to wait until his contract end in 3 years 😢 I am christian too, I have pray a lot but still I feel so sad!

    This was a really good video. It will be interesting if you choose to continue to do these every few years (I don't know how long you guys plan to stay in the military) to see how your perspective changes or if it changes. I mean, life in general continues to move so thoughts are always changing, military or not, but things definitely go to a different level when you have kids and the way the military impacts you as a family and a mother. Now that my kids are older, my views have changed dramatically from when they were babies to toddlers to smaller kids and now teens. Some things are just rough and doing some things alone at this point has taken on such a heavy burden that I wasn't prepared for. But I think you are right about not being able to be ready for something until it happens. That's where I am at right now. My husband has been in the Navy for 15 years now and I am still dealing with new curve balls that are getting thrown my way. It's always changing and challenging.

    My boyfriend is a year older than me and going into the marines. He'll be a senior in high school this year, I'll be a junior. He leaves for bootcamp a year from now, so I'm going to have to do my senior year alone. Im an artist and I plan on going to art school, hopefully RISD. How do we make it work where I'll be in college and he'll be doing whatever it is they do? What is the time frame for marines? Like bootcamp, 10 day break, then what ? Specialized training or straight into their 4 years active duty? And is the specialized training part of the 4 years or is it prior? I just want to know how its gonna work to be with him once I'm done school. If he's actively deployed, can I meet him wherever he is or do we have to initially go together? When should we get married to avoid any bumps in the road regarding timeframe? Can I even go with him if we're not married?

      @Laura Klabe, I am currently in a Marine relationship rn. Once he’s done with his 10 day boot leave, he will be going into the School or Infantry (SOI), and will be put into either Infantry Training Batallion or Marine Combat Training depending on his MOS. If his MOS is Infantry he’ll be spending 59 days in ITB, if not he’ll be spending 29 days in MCT. Once that is done, he will go to his MOS school wherever that is for however long. Then it depends on whether he’s Active or Reservists.

      @@nicolediamond391 okay thank you, and where does marriage and living together fall into that? In 5 years I'll be done college. Will he be actively deployed then? Can I join him during his tour or do I have to wait for him to come home? At what point will I get more communication than just letters?

    @brit Thanks Brit for all.your vidoes they have helped me a lot . Ive been talking to my bf since 2015 when he first got into the military, we had been just friends first but recently he asked me to be his gf right before he left on his 2nd deployment and I now have feelings for him this deployment. Its about a month into deployment and its so hard having him gone. Trying not to be a brat but i miss him and need him.and i told him that. I feel like its been nothing but small talk lately nothing deep. Its getting very frustrating. Trying to be understanding but its so hard. Any advice on not giving him a hard time even tho im feeling he is being distant?

    Anyone looking to date someone in the military, it’s not worth it!! Some of the men will lie their 🍑 off saying they’re single or going through divorce proceedings but 9 times out of 10, they’re lying! And forget about him prioritizing you, spending time and doing anything with you on his downtime, he won’t! Been there once and never looking back!!! And if you find a military man that’s single-single, consider yourself lucky!!!!

    Watching these videos are super helpful & I enjoy watching, thank you so much!!!❤️ I am currently in a relationship with my boyfriend who is in the army & I admit it is very hard while he is away & just trying to be strong for him but it is all totally worth it❤️❤️However I do have a question for you, did you have other plans before having a relationship with your husband? Like career goals? My plan was to go to the military before I even knew my boyfriend & now that we are together, we’ve discussed that if I did join while we were together that it would be very hard especially because I know he wants a family so we both agreed that I would not join. I still have other goals but I guess I’m kinda needing reassurance that this is a great idea still. Lol

    QUESTION: how do you get your SO to be more open in conversation and responsive when it comes to talking about his feelings?

    • @BritCon2
      @BritCon2  Před 6 lety +1

      It definitely takes time, especially if they haven't ever done it, but slowly creating a more open and judgement free environment helps to start off with. Many people, particularly men, don't like sharing feelings out of fear of judgement. Once they can feel safe and conversation can start to deepen. If they have a lot of baggage in their hearts though, it can take quite a bit of time, so patience is important.

      My boyfriend is in BCT right now, the only thing to really prepared for it is to talk about it. Make sure you get his address when he arrives to his training site and write him letters!! Letters are very important and it helps them stay motivated and focused. One tip when writing letters don’t mention anything bad or upsetting. You want to uplift them and keep them motivated.
